Great hotel, staff very attentive great location away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco but a short 15 minute boat shuttle ride away. We have been coming here every year for the past five years and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

Lovely 5 night stay — rescheduled from 2020 due to Covid. Made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely terrace dining area and other outside bar/eating area, Pizza was amazing! Pool area was very nice, very quiet. Room was really nice with a sea view but carpets were stained quite badly and although they had been cleaned, it was a bit off putting. The bathroom was a let down, the shower cubicle absolutely soaked the floor every time it was used. Coffee could have been replenished daily and could have had tea available.

Water shuttle to Venice was easy. The room was spacious and well equipped, and the breakfast was excellent.

A Hotel with the history of 110 years. The splendor of the past can still be felt. Super Service, great and highly motivated employees. Unfortunately, there is no SPA.

Fancy hotel in Lido. You should make your choice if you want to stay outside the main area of San Marco.

A 4 star pretending to be a 5L. Overall experience was disappointing and even after complaints improvement were not made and attention to details close to 0. Cleaning of the room wasn’t made properly, water at night is optional, key desactívate at 12:00 in case you would be trying to take your luggage 5 minutes too late from your room. No flexibility, service was tasteless. We even heard a waitress mentioning out loud a table saying “the Chinese” how great for an international hotel hosting the movie festival. The boat service for guest to go to San Marco goes as slow as possible for a obvious slot problem at San Marco… great for customer who are the ones who have to suffer in a long and slow boat ride because of lack of organisation. If you go during the estival prepare yourself of not being cared for at all it’s a total mess and guest are basically not more important than day visitors. We come to Venice at least 10 times a year but wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Moorish architecture in the early 1900s. I'm spending. High-quality interior. Located on the most beautiful beach of the Lido of Venice strategic headquarters during the international film exhibition. It has the private shuttle that connects the Lido to Venice's historic centre, which can be reached in 7-8 minutes. In front of a beach overtaken with its typical rigid canvas huts also dedicated to its customers. This place is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau period typical of the 20s of the last century, however renovated with modern conveniences.

Nice hotel… Beautiful. But… I was here for a conference and I asked for directions at the concierge and he was positively rude. I understand there is the Film Festival, I understand that there is a lot of people, but in a hotel of this level you expect at least the staff to be polite.

We love Venice. But it is so crowded during summer. The Lido Beach is a very nice option to scape the craziness. The Excelsior’s beach and pool are great. The hotel is 110 years old. So, it is all about tradition and elegance. Lots of closet space, big rooms, clean, wonderful staff. And the Lido beach. My girls loved the pool! The downside is that is 30 min from Venice. The hotel provides a boat every 30 min to/from San Marco. It was super convenient.

A very nice hotel with a great history. Some elements of the facilities and the service could be improved. In particular the beach service would benefit from an alternative to the cabanas if you don’t want to spend the whole day there, and the pool closes too early.

In principle, the hotel is great! Beautiful interior, friendly staff, comfortable and spacious rooms. Storage in the room beyond praise. Lots of cabinets to put stuff and suitcases. The rooms great maid service twice a day. The only thing that brought me no comfort, is the lack of in my room in the shower to manual watering. There was only a rain shower, and long hair in this shower, it is extremely difficult to wash out. Well, and a Hairdryer. He just antediluvian! Them dry hair is impossible in principle. But otherwise-this is the place where you want to go back and remember stay happy! Thanks to all the staff!

Incredible place to spend our honeymoon. Beach was lovely, getting to rent a cabana for the day to relax, while the complimentary shuttle service to St. Mark's Square is wonderful. Concierge was so helpful with restaurants, as well as helping work out transportation.

Great hotel in Lido. The staff were very friendly and helpful. With shuttle to move to San Marcos every half hour Hotel with retro air, from bygone eras with all its splendor, with private beach (and those huts of other times so well maintained). A wonderful kindness and attention, no doubt a place to stay again in the next visit to Venice.

Had a work dinner, was very well organized. But very hot inside. Food was good, less good than expected though, but the group was huge. Still good enough. Waiters spoke a bit of English.

We want to thank the amazing Excelsior hotel in Venice for making our honeymoon great. We enjoyed everything and we left with many amazing memories from this beautiful place.

Although still very beautiful having stayed here many time previously, the main dining room was closed in the evening, although food is still available in the bar. Arrange a boat to collect you from Marco Polo airport. The trip from the airport to the hotel entrance provides a wonderful welcome. The service is excellent.

Place is good, but staff is very bad, less responsibilities. When I check out that day, they help me call taxi, after I reach the Lido port 5mins, my mobile left in the taxi, but the hotel didn't was a very bad experience help to get me back the phone and said to me there are not phone in the taxi. The concierge staff look down ASIAN people and not helpful on its. I believed if this happened on their local people, the staff will help them until they get back the phone. This was a very bad experiences in my last second day trip in Italy.

I went for work a really big and very luxurious place with a beach and a very chic terrace however for me as it surely will be out of reach of ordinary sovgiornarci mortals I found it demode and ancient to renovate. I state that I was there during our cinema…

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… Lovely hotel, excellent transport service to Venice. Restaurant food could be better. Other than the salad bar there is only one main meal on offer each evening. You should probably stay away from ordering the little things like water… as it will set you back around €8 per bottle. Soon stacks up.

Wonderful luxury I adore customer for ten years!

Inaugurated in 1908, the Grand Hotel Excelsior is a bizarre Moorish-style building with cupolas, pinnacles and Oriental decorations, property of the newly formed Italian company Grandi Hotels (CIGA) : Equipped with a real lagoon marina, the Large building overlooking the beach with a spectacular terrace; Equipped with scenographic environments, starting from the large stucco room, it has been a location for cinema and photography on various occasions. In 1932 the Excelsior hosts the first edition of the Venice film Biennale, which marks not only the definitive takeoff of tourism at the Lido.

The review only applies to the beach which is both a service for hotel guests and is available separately. It is a series of tented huts very spacious and well set up in the part of beach in front of Hotel Excelsior, Palace of the exhibition of the cinema. You can find deckchairs, sunbeds and chairs in 5 or 6 people. You can't sleep at night, although in fact the interior space would be there for a couple of people. The huts and furnishings are rearranged every day. The bathrooms and showers (hot) are continually cleaned.

AVOID The Excelsior! The hotel is very dated and over priced for the value. The WORST part is that the air conditioning was broken and they are lying about it. First, how is the air conditioning broken to an entire building as large as this? Second, it's a little suspicious that everyone one of the staff gave the same explanation — "extraordinary maintenance". So with no A/C, we had to keep the doors open which ended up getting us eaten by mosquitoes. The staff offered a fan, which didn't help much, and then a portable A/C unit… which required a balcony door to be opened… letting in more mosquitoes. Furthermore, we ate at the restaurant in the hotel which was not only very over priced but serice was very slow and the staff was rude. We will NEVER stay here again and suggest you don't either.

Beautiful place. Very attentive waiters. The rooms are a little "frayed", but it is kind of its own charm. New-fangled "stuff" is there "in spirit" not be caught.

Summary: Location perfect, Beach perfect, house super, service rather poor, prices impossible.
The Excelsior is a beautiful house with nice rooms and great location. You are directly at the hotel's own beach and can drive to St Mark's Square in 10min with the also on-site boats. 3 stars are only because the prices are really a little too high. Those who come with the ~ €350 for the cheap rooms, will probably rather thirsty than to buy a liter of water for ~ €15. At breakfast you can also order freshly squeezed orange juice for ~ €19, as extra only a funny orange syrup is included. In addition, the table has always been overflowing with dishes, the buffet makes several gears, but the many waiters never come to clear anything. And great, there is double room service. Too bad I was not even in the room between the two services.

Great old-school grand Hotel located at the lido of Venice. Directly located at the beach and next to the film Festival Locations. Shuttle boat in summer every 30 minutes directly to St Marcus Square. May seem off Venice but due to the shuttle boat great for visiting Venice while at the same time enjoying beach and less touristy atmosphere.

Spent a romantic getaway in this hotel. It was amazing, the place has a magical feeling with its design and architecture. The only point that I have is that the beach cabanas are over priced.

Historic Hotel del Lido where all the stars were going during the film festival, still nice, but a succession of different administrations has meant that the maintenance work were in dribs and drabs going to deteriorate the splendour of this magnificent Palace of 1800 a great sin.

Because there was no organization and there was food was a bad experience ever again.

Worst dump in the world! I can show you pictures of just how bad it was! Broken glass in the room; rusted equipment; mud-strewn balcony with a giant tree in front of it. Management did nothing. avoid.

Luxurious establishment located in front of the beach of the Lido which still retains the glamour of yesteryear. It has a reserved area of design, swimming pool and restaurant selecta sheds; as well as shuttle service to San Marcos. All very exclusive.

I dtayed in this jotel for 2. Nights, 4&5th. October 2013 . A eonderfil experiment I would like to repeat, next time wiyh my family. But yhe man ay the reception ayt 5 oclock, 6 October morning id terrible.

Surprising value for Venice. Rooms were very large with exotic moorish decor. Taking the free shuttle to Venice was not the huge hassel I expected. I recommend this hotel.

The Hotel Excelsior is truly beautiful and cultural icon. This is one of the few Hotels that my wife and I would return to. Finally a BIG thank you to the staff, you were also fantastic.

Privacy and quietude are rare in Venice but manifest at the Excelsior. Private Serenella water taxi makes the location convenient enough. Relaxed, separated location makes the effort well worthwhile. The ferry will bring you and you and your car here.
