Legally and technically I have not been wronged. However, it feels like stiff punishment for a simple mistake and brings into question the humanity of the people running the Domus Dotti V Guest House in Treviso. On Monday, I was excitedly searching hotels for a 3 day trip with my family in July. Yes, I left it a little late, I know. However, I came across the Domus Dotti V Guest House and it looks wonderful. I wanted to reserve rooms and show my family that evening to confirm everyone agreed with my choice. The booking site made it clear there was only one room left with 2 beds (meeting my needs). As I was booking 2 rooms and saw the cancellation notice was 10 days from the booking date, I proceeded with the 2 room booking. Upon receipt of the confirmation email, I immediately noticed the second room could not be cancelled without paying in full. I made a mistake. It was entirely my fault for not paying closer attention. I immediately contacted the booking site to request a refund on the second room. A total of 4 minutes elapsed between booking confirmation and cancellation request. Everyone makes mistakes. It feels horrible, but when forgiveness is offered, it can be truly restorative. In this instance, my 4 minute mistake cost me €400. The hotel responded to my cancellation request "Dear guest, Unfortunately we can’t cancel for free the no refundable rate”. They are technically and legally correct. However, I ask “is this they way you would want to be treated? ”.
Perfect location. Nice staff. Amazing place. We stayed in room with rooftop terrace. Just perfect.
