A beautiful hotel, amazing service, very luxurious and pampering. Highly recommended.

Had the worst dinner experience at the summer garden resturant. Food was awful, service was bad, everything came late. I do not recommend at all.

Best place in East Jerusalem for staying a night or a few or just have a meal or a coffee. Great atmosphere and welcoming hosting. Just a few minutes walk from the ancient city. There are such places in Israel and Palestine.

Splendid and very special considering it's history. Very friendly staff they make you feel welcome and at ease. Beautiful historic buildings with an intrioin that is in since. Location is close to the old city of Jerusalem 10 minutes walk. 30 minutes from the dead sea and 30 minutes from Bethlehem.

It's a very nice hotel with excellent service and pretty close to the old city. The only thing that bothered me a little was that the swimming pool couldn't be used in the evening. That would've been perfect.

We had a private event in one of the hotel's restaurants. It really felt like high end restaurant. The service was great. The design was luxurious. The only thing is that the food was very good but not amazing. I had a very good salmon but without a side dish. For vegetarians was only gnocchi and they were not satisfied.

I loved it! Polite hotel staff. The hotel itself is very nice, lovely gardens. On balconies grow flowers, birds sing. Beauty! The feeling that got into the "sultanate" and felt myself by Hurem.

An amazing experience. Relaxed and gracious this is not just a hotel but a story. It's just so peaceful and quiet, hard to believe it is n Jerusalem. It's like the stones breathe history! We have a great room in a building called East House with a private small garden. Highly recommend this hotel and will be back.

Beautiful grounds, great service, however that's where the compliment ends. The bathtub was dirty which made me uncomfortable about the whole room. The food as in all hotels very expensive but utterly not worth it. During dinner we sampled over 8 dishes only two would I call good, and some inedible, certainly not fit for a hotel of this stature. At breakfast the food was either bland or old and dry. Everything seems to have been prepared not only the night before but a few days before. A very disappointing visit, definitely won't return or recommend, especially considering the cost.

Very good staff and very good kitchen my favorite hotel.

First off I must give credit where it is deserved, the staff was very nice and the service was excellent. Now to the reason of 2 stars. First of the food was sub par for a place like this, I mean we were 3 families and out of all the food we ordered on 2 dishes were OK, the rest ranged from not good to unpalatable. Second (and more importantly) the room was filthy (especially the bathroom) it looked like they never got to the corners of the room. In the bathroom there was black hair on the towels and a lot of mold in/around the tub. Lastly the tub itself was not draining the water properly (a sign that the drain was somewhat clogged) and to me this is a big sign things are not maintained.

I had a wonderful time at the American Colony. The chef was very kind to prepare a platter of fresh fruit for me as a compliment. Every food I ordered was well deserved of a 5star rating. The staff was friendly.

Definitely the best hotel in Jerusalem. Lovely hotel with history behind it. Comfortable rooms with all kinds of amenities. Excellent service and everything in detail prepared. Great breakfast as well as the restaurant and the cave bar. Beautiful swimming pool. A 10 in all.

Fabulous quaint hotel with a wonderful history. It's a short walk from the old city and has a beautiful courtyard and gardens, a charming pool and a very friendly and helpful staff. It's a wonderful setting that makes for a really enjoyable stay.

The American Colony Hotel is the right place to stay on a visit to Jerusalem. Comfortable, historic, eclectic and convenient, it does a great job of balancing its commitment to history with its modern amenities. There’s no better place to finish a day walking through the Old City than in the Cellar Bar of the Hotel, it’s old dairy converted into a great setting. At the Cellar Bar (and in fact from the moment you check in) you’ll experience the best part of the hotel: the incredible service offered by the team. A Leading Hotel of the World member, The American Colony as fully deserves the designation as anywhere I’ve stayed before.

Wonderful location, food as in the average of the hotel, very friendly staff, nasty surprise with the price of wine.

Probably one of the better and very romantic hotels in the world. Lovely atmosphere and gorgeous building. The bar is fantastic the food not so great but the rest is do outstanding I tend to forgive them that little less than excellent goofy stuff.

One of the best super luxury hotels in the world. The ancient history and architecture of the hotel is brilliant and magical. The hotel has had worlds leading celebrities and head of states who have stayed at the hotel. Words cannot describe the beauty and aura surrounding the space. The suites are large and furniture and interior ambiance had a wonderful old world charm. It's dining restaurant, the cellar bar, open courtyard, swimming pool spaces are exquisite and experential.

Historical palace just a few minutes walking distance from the Old City of Jerusalem. Efficient service with very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended. This is a lovely place to stay on your visit to the Holy Land!

Simply fantastic. Ambiance, service, food… It's a must, visiting Jerusalem. Full of history. His garden is unique for dinner when the weather allows his opening (usually from spring to automne)

Elegant, refined and traditional at the same time.

Walked over for lunch today. Gorgeous courtyard restaurant. Not sure what happened, but after waitress gave me tje menu and breadbasket she disappeared. Finally another woman came over and took my order. I'm glad I brought my own bottle of water because that was the only water I was offered. When my order was taken I was not asked if I wanted anything to drink and there were no drinks listed on the menu. I waited quite a while for my food. A gentleman came over and asked if I was dining alone and quickly removed the other place setting as if that was somehow going to improve my experience. I ordered a vegetable frittata. It was okay but was stuck to the pan in which it was served but at least wasn't burnt. After I got back to my hotel, I realized that it was supposed to have come with a lime yogurt sauce which would have made it quite yummy. I did ask for iced tea and got a small glass and was never offered a refill. I saw the waitress again and asked for my check but had to ask for someone else to bring it to me finally. At least I had a relaxed time in a beautiful setting but I felt like this was nothing special. I truly had to wonder if I was treated this way because I was a woman alone. Since I was not feeling well I had decided to do no sightseeing today and this was to have been a special treat for myself. I was disappointed. Clearly this is not typical of this gorgeous hotel where I would love to be able to stay one day.

This is the most amazing place to be. I've been here many times, and every time I visit, I have a great experience. The service, the food, the ambiance, and the attention were all fantastic! The gardens are beautiful and the rooms are large. The place is spotless. Full of history and luxury, the American Colony is quite exceptional! I will definitely come back!

Not sure from where to start, but my experience at the American Colony was probably the best experience I ever had at a hotel (And I travel A LOT). Rooms are worth the price, food was terrific. Had a few drinks at the bar at night and the bartender was more than amazing. Front desk workers were professional. One thing I would like to also mention is the cleanliness of this hotel, the hotel is SPOTLESS, and rooms are super clean. I really tried to find a flaw with this hotel but I honestly couldn't. Definitely will be back every time I'm in the holy land. I'm actually more eager to schedule another trip at the holy land because of my experience at the American Colony. Truly amazing.

This beautiful hotel is everything we wished it to be and more. From the moment you step in, you're in for total enchantment, the kind big industrial hotels can never achieve. The building is packed with history, and it also has lovely gardens, which is a huge plus. Breakfast was divine and our room was perfect. Will definitely come back next time we're in Jerusalem!

I loved this place. It has style in bucketloads. The service isn't just first rate; the staff here have class. A gorgeous room. Nice restaurant — be careful the portions are large! The food we had was imaginative and tasty.

I tested the restaurant a long time ago, I remember the beautiful setting and the impeccable service. I do not remember what I ate there but it did not leave me a bad memory in any case.

The building is old, but in good condition. You feel really very comfortable there. The bathroom was very small, it was located only a bathrobe and a pair of slippers in double room. A second set was brought immediately to a complaint. The service however does not begin meets the House. Was so for example. At the pool after over an hour, not even once asked if you would like something to drink. The attention to detail is completely absent in this House. Knife and fork at breakfast and the restaurant such as adjust not to each other. The doorman prefers it pitiful to watch one, instead of helping to carry the suitcase. On a call at the reception, which may minibar briefly to be refilled, it is communicated that this would not be just. The existing in-room glasses are not uniform, but also from different manufacturers. In this price range, you can expect better.

One of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in. It has an classic Arabic style with beautiful old furniture and tall ceiling. He service is top quality as well.

Wow. What a hotel. Full of history, great cellar bar with good selection of malt whiskey. we had a pasha room and had a great time. Breakfast was very generous. Service was spotty, sometimes a bit slow, but always kind and caring. i will stay again.

Have you seen the mosaic in the bottom of the swimming pool at the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem? Have you been eating breakfast in the courtyard where the children can feed the goldfishes? Did you spend time in the bookshop? Have you experienced the friendly staff? No? Try it! You will love this hotel. I'm going back :-).

This was the best food I had on my Israel trip. The lemonade here was amazing. They put mint in it over there which I think is really neat.
