Best hotel I’ve been in!

The staff is nice but the room is very noisy… no AC and shower too old for that expensive price!

Such and awesome hotel! We had a very nice view of the city wall when the light festival was on and it was really amazing! It is believed that this is the oldest hotel in Jerusalem so it needs to be taken into consideration when you book. It is very cosy and most of the staff are very friendly. There is a very nice view from the top of the hotel.

The boss is absolutely friendly and accommodating, the reception staff are not. We would even be turned away with 2 postcards, with the hint that such stuff belongs to the post office.
We expected significantly more for 5 stars.
The sink is connected without siphon, so it stinks mightily. The installation is open at all.
We really can't recommend the hotel.
Plus points have the central location, the good food at the host next door and the cordiality of the boss.

Beautiful rustic hotel. Very friendly and polite staff. I had the feeling that I was part of the movie “Casablanca” Had a great time and I would gladly use it at my next visit.

This hotel is in an unbeatable location—inside the Old City but just on the edge, a few feet from Jaffa Gate. It’s in the Christian quarter, a ten minute walk (if that) from the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall. It’s a clean, well-maintained, hotel in a very old building, under the same ownership since the 1940s. The problem is that the design of the building doesn’t actually create a lot of space for ideal modern hotel rooms. My room was small and relatively dark. I get the sense that many visitors complain about their rooms. So take that into consideration—but look, you’re paying for an extraordinary level of convenience and charm. One other note: this hotel is not wheelchair accessible; in fact all the rooms are up two long flights of stairs. I get the sense that you *could* ask for a porter, but nobody offered to help me. Other than that, the service was very cordial.

Have stayed here for a week, the New Imperial Hotel is a family owned hotel, with a fascinating collection of artifacts and photographs of the old city spanning at least 100 years. Be warned this hotel is not for those with mobility issues there is no lift and there are 25 steps from the front door to the reception! The hotel is a bit tatty in places but is undergoing a program of restoration and improvement (but not a noisy dirty building site, work being done without upsetting guests) the breakfast buffet is predominantly middle Eastern with a selection of salads, cheeses, cold meats and fish, but has western cereals, toast and preserves. There is also an 'egg bar' where staff will cook omelettes and fried eggs to order. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful.

Not the best interior of the rooms, especially taking into account the prices. The furniture and plumbing leaves much to be desired. But if you happen to get a room with a view of the Tower of David, it will cover all the flaws of the hotel.
Excellent breakfast with a wide choice of dishes of Middle Eastern cuisine and quite traditional for Europeans products. Lots of salads, yogurts, lovely fresh hummus, meat snacks, various cheeses.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Recommended for those who want to fully plunge into the atmosphere of the Old City.

Right in the centre next to the Jaffa Gate.

Very interesting place in a historic location. The interior is a mix of everything that gives it a very retro feeling. We have stayed there several times, but last time we had a problem with air con that happened after midnight and the staff didn't know how to fix it. Without the a/c it was very hot and difficult to sleep. Outside is quite noisy, so take this into consideration when thinking of opening windows. Still, we will probably stay there again.

Ну очень на любителя. Фото внутренней обстановки даже близко не отражают реальность. Интересно для ценителей: в отели останавливался Бунин и Гоголь. Правда ремонтировали его в последний раз похоже примерно в то же время. Завтраки — просто кошмар. Из плюсов: приветливый персонал, очень колоритная атмосфера, не забудешь и ни с чем не спутаешь. Ну и безусловно расположение идеальное для прогулок по старому городу.

Good location and nice older gentlemen during the day, again as others have stated every evening we had to ask for towels and wash clothes and every evening the lady at the desk would act surprised and embarrassed that our room hadn’t been cleaned. Good breakfast though.

The hotel is in an old building, some rooms is slow to repair. Very convenient location, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 7 minutes. A large market of Souvenirs. Close to trams and you can drive anywhere in the city.

We have stayed many places all over the world and we have often thought great hotel but let us visit the next place. With the New Imperial Hotel you will just want to go back. Fantastic breakfast, fantastic rooms, fantastic location. We are saving to come back.

I love this place, though the room is not the greatest but its the best place to stay if you want to explore the archeological places and historical event of the Bible particularly happened in Old Jerusalem. Close to many popular tourist spot like Israel Museum and Yad Vashim or the holocaust museum. The staff are very nice and accomodating. Giving thumbs up to them.

Beautiful building mistreated by a little forward-looking management/property. I'm really sorry to see a jewel of yesteryear ruined. There is no proportion between the price and the quality of the service/product.

The breakfast is wonderful, local cuisine, wonderful coffee's offered, rooms are quiet, right near Jaffa Gate, the heart of the Christian quarter, near everything in old Jerusalem, all in walking distance, close to tour office and ATM's wonderful restaurant in hotel courtyard, and yummy freshly squeezed juices available at main Street enterance, also a yummy local drink called Sahlab, a creamy warm milk pudding like drink flavoured with orange blossom water, one adds coconut, cinnamon, raisins, and or nuts to, very good.

Peculiar and eclectic. The breakfast was very nice. With Hot water Problems: The very hot, the cold is not adjustable. Breakfast is not bad, but not hot except omelettes. Coffee is not a drink either-it is not. The Staff is great. Friendly and friendly. Location But for such money should be better.

Very good location, owner very very friendly, the rooms are not the best but if you are not that pickie is ok, breakfast nice, Edith variety, delicious lemon juice,, amazing views, have a nice big saloon, but mostly the owner is like the father of all the guests.

Amazing terrace to see the old city. The rooftop terrace has wonderful view of both, East and West Jerusalem. Great food, warm welcome. Very recommendable for those who want to taste the old ambiance in a historical place.

There is only one good thing about this hotel. It's location. Poor cleaning. Bathroom very small, and someone stolen my makeup … terrible.

This is a special place very close to the historical centre of Jerusalem. Absolutely great rooftop view and very friendly owner. Rooms were ok for a few nights, decent breakfast with vegetarian/vegan options.

Good location in the old city and nice host. You can drive the car to the hotel directly.

We stayed at the Imperial Hotel for three nights. The staff were helpful and kind but the accomodation was insufficient. There were no lifts and we were expected to carry our luggage up the stairs to the next floor. Our first room had a balcony out to the old city but the street noise and the noise from the presentation at Davids palace made it impossible to sleep. The second room we were moved to had the bathroom on the second floor. However, the roof was covered in mould on a ceiling that was not adequate for tall people.

Very nice experience staying in this hotel! Friendly staff and quite nice breakfast. Our rooms were facing the main street so the view was also really nice. You can also go to the roof terrace which opens you to the view of the entire Old City.

A big thank you to Abu and his team for making us and our wedding guests feel at home! Your hospitality is beyond normal and we all loved our stay. I adore the atmosphere of the hotel not one room like another. This was our second stay with you and we feel New Imperial is our home when in Jerusalem and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else!

Old building. The street is very loud, impossible to sleep. The Breakfast is good. On the roof to breathe, drink what ever.

Towels were dirty, the room was depressing, I felt I was in a horror movie type hotel. No phone in the room. Hallways are used as storage for unused furniture. There's no elevator or staff to help bring up or down your luggage. Tons of mold and humidity on the walls. Rug on the floor was filthy. Bathroom was dirty, found hair from previous guests. All they provide is a small piece of soap. Very small room, no place to put luggage other than the bed. I do give them they're in a great location, but not worth it. I would not recommend at all.

The location is superb, it looks like a historic building right in the upper left corner of the old city. Good starting point to explore both the old and the new Jerusalem. The rooms are big, but could be refurbished. The price for the night was ok with a good breakfast included. Some areas are still under construction.

A truly awful place. We were recommended here by a taxi driver and told it might not be the best but it was cheap and in a great location. The rooms were filthy, dingy, poorly air conditioned and massively out dated. An almost Dracula feel to the room might have been intimidating if it wasn't for the Micky Mouse mirror balancing the vibe out nicely. The free breakfast included was terrible. Unidentifiable meats and sickly dips. Even the bread was distinctly bad. The coffee provided was meant for a filter machine but all that was provided was a tank of hot water and an unnecessary amount of mugs. Luckily I'll eat almost anything when I'm hungry but this hot, soily water really was undrinkable. Meanwhile, other tables had "reserved" signs on them yet we sat alone. It genuinely felt a bit like North Korea. After we had checked out, whilst coming back to pick up our bags, I asked to go to the toilets. I was calmly directed through an unmarked door down a darkened hallway. This door opened up into an almost pitch black room with vague silhouettes of piled up mattresses and surplus furniture. Normally I'd assume I had chosen the wrong door but the past 24hrs had taught me otherwise: I pressed on through the room towards a dim light on the other side and was rewarded with 2 toilet doors next to a disused elevator shaft. I half expected the light switch for the men's not to work but to my surprise it did!. But the door was locked.

Excellent hotel. Excellent reception.
