Great Family run Hotel. Carvery and evening menu is always delicious, so much so I eat here every weekend. Staff are always pleasant and go out of their way to help you with any requests. Well done to all the Claffey Family, a great place to have on our doorstep and also a great asset to the town of Moate.

€500 charge for a room to seat 30-40 adults for a sit down meal FOR A CONFIRMATION? at €25 per head plus 6-7 rooms being paid for. Highly dissatisfied, as a local customer that supported you throughout covid and for many years. Plus having family that was a former employee of yours for many years. Have since booked a private function room in a top class Hotel in the centre of Athlone for a €100 charge for the room which is very fair and what's better is there very glad and appreciative of our business. Will never return to the grand hotel. Very bad business on Damien's behalf. I'm sure if John Joe was still running the hotel he would be very accommodating and not turn down so much business.

Was there last night for a meal myself and hubby table was fabulously laid out for valentines table sevice was very good excellent the 2 girls was so lovely and interacted with us which was lovely and the food was amazing from start to finish 💯 we will be back and will recommend to our family and friends.

Came here with my sister for a spot of lunch and we were presented with a beautiful Dinner for two.

David and I had our beautiful wedding day in the Grand Hotel. The management and staff are just amazing, so helpful. A special thanks to Damien and Mark.

Had a lovely meal in Grand Hotel this evening. Great food and atmosphere and felt very safe, in these strange times it was lovely to go somewhere local and feel safe and enjoy great food.

Thanks to all the staff last night in the restaurant for a lovely first meal out since restrictions were lifted. The hotel has adapted really well to social distancing and the decor in the restaurant is really lovely, with lovely cosy dining areas for each table. The food was excellent and service was brilliant… even though the staff were wearing masks you could still tell it was service with a smile… well done all.

My daughter and her husband got married yesterday at the grand hotel what can I say as words cant put together how amazing the claffey family and staff are in this wonderful hotel food and service was fantastic they went over and above to make the wedding a very happy and memorial day for my daughter and husband and all her family and guests thank ye for a wonderful day and night I would highly recommend the grand hotel for weddings or any special occasion thank ye for a fantastic day and night.

Old fashioned. I like hotels like this. If you want shiny and modern go to a different place. The room was dated but clean. Paid €8.50 extra for breakfast. It was very good. I felt that €57.50 for one night, including breakfast was very good value.

The staff are extremely helpful and the food is fantastic especially the steak.

Staff where amazing, friendly and really looked after us during our stay. The food was gorgeous and portions where just perfect. I would definitely stay again.

We had lovely meal in Grand Hotel today, very warm & cosy.

We enjoyed a well cooked Dinner in The Carvery. The portions are generous and a variety of vegetables is on offer to accompany the meat options, or fish choices of the day. The Grand Hotel has been noted for The Carvery for many years.

Family run hotel and restaurant. Excellent food and service with s smile. Last week as I was heading from Galway to Dublin I rang ahead an ordered a Rib-eye steak dinner as I was passing Athlone. I arrived to a smile and the wonderful meal arrived on the table within 3-4 minutes. I continued my journey a happy and fortifed. Great place. Enjoy.

A lovely family run business in Moate. Very helpful staff and good food served. Prompt service. I would defiantly recommend The Grand Hotel.

Nice friendly staff, decor is a bit dated but food was excellent.

Very bad service and very little food for price bad experience no water and no toilets on day of moate show charging 2 euro for bottle water a disgrae.

13 of us from Ringsend golf society stayed for the night on Saturday 2nd of September, we had a selection of starter's, main course's and deserts and all 13 of us agreed that the food was lovely, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome, would definitely recommend.

Nice restaurant, breakfast OK, "lady" waitress is probably one of the most rude and unwelcoming people I have ever come across. Would certainly not encourage a return to this establishment.

I attend The CTC down the road for college and we always meet in the Grand Hotel for dinner afterwards. What a great selection on the menu and the food is delicious it never disappoints! The staff are friendly and efficient no matter how busy they are. A great place to relax and enjoy a evening :)

Was over there sunday but disapointed with food it was cold and beef was very fatty normally go there every sunday for dinner but reall disappointed wit dinner on sunday it usually good.

Had a really excellent meal at Siobhan & Mike's wedding yesterday. The steak was one of the tastiest I've eaten! Would highly recommend.

We had two cowboy steaks and one T Bone steak last Saturday night in Claffey's Steakhouse restaurant, an absolutely delicious meal plenty of vegetables, steak perfectly cooked and thanks to Nicola our waitress so friendly I would recommend it to anyone. Why travel to eat a good meal when its right there at your doorstep.
