Hazelbrook

I see lots of negatve reviews here that were posted several months/years from now. I stayed here with my husband in early 2026, and as for now this hotel resolved the issues which were stated in other reviews as I van see.
The room was squeaky clean. We were greeted by the member of the staff Natalia, which was a very nice and helpful lady.
The shower was clean (water pressure is not the strongest one, but it's a pretty common thing in Ireland, at least it was steaming hot).
Can't tell anything about the breakfast because we overslept it, but can definitely say that the bed was very comfortable :)
Will recommend this place for sure.

Great location, parking, only issue was a very noisy shower and dripping cistern. Other than that clean, cosy, comfy and a lovely breakfast.

I stayed for a night while down for a convention. The room was comfortable, the place was quiet, service was fantastic. I felt very welcomed. It was conveniently close to everything.

Highly recommend this property. The property itself is in a great location with a bus stop a few steps away and easy to find with a short walk into the town where you will find many places for dinner and local pubs for a drink and a few minutes walk to the shops. The lovely lady that I met on arrival was very pleasant, helpful and clear on explaining how to enter and where to find the Wi-Fi which was also perfect and always up early at 8am to offer you hot drinks and toast for breakfast along side the other breakfast options in the dining room. The room itself was absolutely perfect, bed was comfy and clean shower was hot and clean alongside the bathroom. My room also had a TV and a kettle to make yourself a cup of tea if you wanted which was a plus. As I said I couldn’t recommend this b&b more I’ve been around the world and stayed in high end hotels and I’ve had worse experiences personally I don’t agree with many of the reviews people expect too much and the comments about the lovley lady and her English are far fetched she done her job very well always very accommodating and pleasant when I dealt with her. I believe I also pumped into the owner one evening who was also very pleasant and helpful if I needed anything during my week stay here. I will definitely be trying to stay here again on my trip later in the year for work.
Thank you.
Barry.

This house is hard to find with a dark sign in a hedge and parking is limited. (The Failte Ireland Guest sign in the photo is misleading as they are not listed approved /anymore).   The smiling hostess has poor english but showed me the Wi-Fi, and the dining room with the uncovered croissants on display ready to be avoided at breakfast the next morning. There is no guest sitting room and no chair in the room, and the bed along with the skimpy old towels is ready to be replaced. The shower is fine and there is tea/coffee and a carafe of water. However, the TV did not work and after repeated attempts to tune it in, I found the hostess and she eventually got it working. The place is clean apart from the back drafting toilet smell joining the smell of the towels and bedclothes drying in the conservatory and kitchen that permeated the house with a damp smell. There was no local tourist info. And no chatty host to make you feel welcome in their home and to give you directions.   The large serving spoons to eat your cereals along with the iced buns, made the continental breakfast, amusing but a nice pot of tea helped me leave in haste. It was a last-minute booking over the phone (cash only was the welcome invite) and I felt like a boarder, similar to the others upstairs…

BEWARE! Absolutely Awful! Avoid at All Costs!
This was hands down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The room was tiny, barely enough space to walk around the bed. Bathroom was awful.
The owner was incredibly rude. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. You can tell their attitude from their responses to online customer reviews. They don’t think about how to improve their service but instead, they accuse guests.
To top it off, we were hit with surprise charges. And guess what? They only accept cash, which we weren’t warned about.
Here is how I think this hotel’s business is questionable: they don’t price the family room (5 people) higher in the booking website so they can trick you to book it. After you are there and too late to cancel, they ask 35 euros per extra person per night. I mean you already pay for a room. They would tell you too bad that price is for two people only. Then why did you let guests book a 5 people room with 2 people price? Only for scamming purposes. They threaten to call the police to evict you when they ask for extra cash. Really? That’s how you treat your guests? And you must pay cash without a receipt. Who knows what fees and taxes they want to avoid. Is this not a trap? A normal business would price a larger room higher so guests would know what to expect when they book. Of course if they did that, people wouldn’t book the room and they couldn’t get the extra cash. This b and b is a scam.

Nice B&B and staff. Our room was on first floor and it was basic but functional, but they need to change the beds and the old mattresses. The private bathroom needs a refurbishment too, even though it was ok for one night. The breakfast served was continental style. They only have park for 4 or 5 cars top. We had to park nearby.

Two stars only because the room was immaculate and very quiet! Unfortunately, the bed and the breakfast parts, the parts you would hope a bed and breakfast excel at, were more than lacking. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable (I swear it’s from the 1930’s), the shower was very small with a small trickle of water, the toilet needed to be opened up and fiddled with to flush properly, and breakfast was literally the option to heat up frozen pastries or have some heavily processed meat with a slice of American cheese (still in the cellophane! ).

Medium sized room was cold — had the one radiator at full blast. Greeted by a nice lady but with poor English language skills. She had to resort to using hands to demo how she wanted me to repark my car & had to resort to Google Translate to understand a question I asked about dinner apparently being included. Not great.

Reading reviews was worried, however, I had a good experience checked in early no problem lady was lovely & friendly with little English. Room was small but comfortable bed snug rads were on room warm. Slept well. Only complaint breakfast was continental overall a lovely stay 😋

Avoid this entity at all costs. After driving for 3.5hrs on 01/08/2024 – Arrived after 7pm to be informed by the housekeeper, who could not speak a word of English but tried very hard to explain to us that that there was no reservation even though we had book and paid eight weeks before hand. The lovely housekeeper got “Noel” on the phone who confirmed to us that he cancelled our booking with Booking. Com, but no one told or inform us and “Noel” had our contact details.
The excuse that was given by “Noel” was that 2 rooms had sewerage issues and that works were been carried out up the road! Now how can 2 rooms and not the other rooms have the sewage issue – absolute nonsense. There were NO works up or down the road over the whole weekend.
Furthermore, “Noel” should never have put this lady in the position to do his dirty work! Disgraceful behaviour and also given local B&B owners bad names!
Find yourselves a local hotel, as we ended up doing and far more comfortable. There are many in the Waterford area. Theresa.

Turned up at the B&B at 7pm to be told that booking had been cancelled 5 days earlier. This was correct and we had not been notified by the booking agent. However the reason given made not sense; sewage works down the road meant 2 rooms were not usuable for 2 of the nights we were there. We could stay 1 night but would have to leave the following morning, needless to say we left immediately. We did check the area and there were no sewage working in any of the adjacent roads and how only 2 rooms were affected I do not understand and the owner would not explain. His attitude was that it was not his issue and didn't care about his guest.

I booked my stay here six months in advance for a marathon that my friends were doing. The night before my stay I received a cancellation confirmation email from them. When I called to see what happened, they said they were overbooked and that the manger had booked someone that was staying longer than the one night I had booked. Because of the race everywhere was sold out and they left me stranded at the last minute. I did not need the stress of trying to find new accommodations the night before more stay and I can’t believe they would just cancel after booking this so far out in advance. No help offered.

One if the worst places we have ever stayed in! The bed springs stuck out of the mattress, nasty stains in the loo, lights didn't work! Could go on! But needless to say all be aware when booking!

The room is not heated, there is no shampoo in the bathroom, the kitchen is locked in the morning.

Its a hostel not a B&B. I have had better breakfast in a hostel. The owner told me a child broke the remote for TV previous night but I see from Reviews a customer said their remote was broken too. The owner looked for the money when we checked in and the place was FREEZING.

Very disappointed with our stay! The room was absolutely freezing & we reported to the house keeper/owner still nothing was done, TV remote was broken and no offer for it to be replaced! We were in the room from 8pm Saturday evening and we literally had to spend the evening in the beds and some of us had to keep hoodies and scarfs on due to the cold! Had to leave at 9.30am on the Sunday due to the cold & lack of breakfast! We have all now come down with the flu since we left and I personally contacted the owner for a refund but won’t give it! Honestly would have been better off booking into the Travelodge would have been a much nicer stay & I wouldn’t be out of work 3 weeks before Christmas due to been sick!
