I stayed recently at this hotel with my three children aged between 7and 18. On arrival check-in staff were very helpful and had a very welcoming attitude. The room was very clean, unfortunately the air conditioning didn't work and our room temperature stayed at 29 during our two day stay. We decided to eat at the hotel bar the first evening as it looked very pleasant. It was quite expensive, for example 16.95 euro for burger and chips. The condiment tray was left at our table and I lifted the mustard jar to use. When I opened it there was nothing in it except dried up mustard around the sides. On further examination the mustard was a few months out of date. My oldest child then noticed that there was dried in snot and hair on his glass which is totally unacceptable. I brought these two issues to a member of staff and merely got a shrug of the shoulders. As I am not a confrontational person I did not take the matter further. I didn't allow my children to eat the remainder of there meal and paid the bill and left. I ordered my children pizza from a nearby take away and we sat outside and ate. After consumption of the food a member of staff rudely informed us in front of other guests that we were not allowed to eat food at the hotel that was not purchased in the hotel. I was not aware of this but was extremely embarrassed to be chastised like a child in front of other guests. Other guests were enjoying food that had not been purchased from the hotel but were not told off.

Great place with amazing staff! The facilities are well over average and the staff are happy to help and make you feel like home!

Not a bad hotel with nice big rooms. Good free Wifi reception in the bedrooms. The pool was big with an nice hot jacuzzi. There was plenty of free parking at front. However I did find some of the bar staff where very cheeky when I asked if they sold crisps and peanuts at the bar. The other problem was the car park exit barrier. This was a joke and was causing so many problems with every other car trying to get out. It was set up that you could drive in ok but you needed a code to get out. I had to leave my car at the exit barrier and run back to the hotel reception to ask what the code was as the exit intercom system on the barrier was not working. I rated the hotel 3 stars because of these problems but I would have given this hotel 5 otherwise.

Nice hotel with good facilities. The restaurant and bar are excellent. The room was spacious and well kitted out. Only thing that stops me giving it 5 stars is the room was quite warm and the AC made little difference.

The Staff are very accommodating and lovely! I am a regular visitor and I love how they tailor their menus to facilitate your dietary requirements. I recommend their pan seared Salmon with seasonal veg or chicken fajitas!

Absouletly loved this hotel. The rooms were spotless. So comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool and spa excellent. Plenty to do for the whole family. Didn't want to come home. Tayto Park and town centre a 10 minute drive away. Will definitely return.

Great hotel location. Benefits from its legacy of being formerly a Marriott designed and fitted hotel. Redesign of the bar dining area has destroyed the comfortable atmosphere that formerly existed. With little investment in good staff, service is mediocre.

A super hotel, room super, finally showering again, breakfast unfortunately bags to take with.

Very nice hotel. Staff are very attractive and the place is very clean.

There is ample carparking available. The reception area is bright and airy. Large function rooms are available for private sittings. I have not stayed at this hotel so I can't comment on the bedrooms, or facilities associated. The restroom facilities associated with the private rooms are clean an well maintained overall I would recommend this hotel.

Bedrooms are first class. Very clean. The bar area and restaurant is deffinetly not 4 star rating. The bar staff and restaurant staff need more experience. I think a top manager to show and teach them is badly needed there.

Overnight stay with friends. Excellent accommodation, food and entertainment. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel.

It's a nice place. I find the building quite impressive, good Christmas decorations. There is a spa and conference center. It's fare away from everything in the middle of nowhere. Good for wedding and larger getherings. I wouldn't choose for tourists stay. Save trip.

They had brilliant rooms, sorry about it looking dirty a little. We layed our stuff everywhere. Also, they had fridges and their food was very good. We should be leaving very soon, they also have free Wi-Fi, which I know some of you love. If you have any questions, I can answer.

Excellent venue for a conference. Very helpful staff with plenty of locations around your main presentation room. It's conveniently located at the end of the M2 on the roundabout and is close to Dublin Airport. Plenty of parking.

Nice hotel. Starting to show signs of wear and tear in the bedroom and especially in the pool. Food was nice if a bit overpriced. Overall a good spot.

We stayed at the Pillo hotel on Thursday and Friday night last week. The hotel itself was spotless staff extremely friendly, however, when I arrived home discovered a jumpsuit had been left behind in bed room 402 I phoned housekeeping nothing found I was advised by housekeeping, the lady who answered was extremely evasive gave me an answer too quickly if one had to refer to computer or sheets it would take a minute or two to look up details also she advised she would call me back that certainly didn't happen. I called again after two days spoke to reception first, the lady there was so nice understanding but still no sign of item left in room. I know for a fact left it in the bed room. Very disappointed as we have stayed in this hotel so many times won't be there again that's for sure. I thought this should be mentioned as when one is away from home we bring our best clothes and if we can't leave something in our bed room very sad.

We popped into the Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne on Monday night to have a coffee and cake only to leave very disappointed and vowing never to return. The service was very poor with the young staff behind the bar not only showing lack of training but total lack of experience. We ordered coffees and scones and were presented with 2 lukewarm cappuccinos served in cups placed on side plates instead of saucers with a long sundae spoon instead of a basic teaspoon. This was the tone of the whole service. The scone was cold and served on a dinner plate. When I returned the coffees I had to wait behind another customer who had returned coffees with the same complaint. As I waited for the young chap to re-make the coffees it was obvious there was very little direction from any management behind the bar. We have been to the hotel many times and even enjoyed a family meal after Tayto Park a few weeks ago but unfortunately there appeared to be a great lack of basic cleanliness behind the bar with uncovered food been stored beside a mop glass cleaner. Spray cleaner just left sitting on the counter next to dishes and cutlery. Few basic food safety issues there I think… The whole experience left us feeling unimpressed enough for me to write the review. Not good Pillo Hotel, expected better from you…

Really nice hotel at a good price. There is a swimming pool and leisure centre. The hotel had a kids club. The one negative I would have is when we had dinner it took 45 minutes for the starter and another 45minutes for the main course. As I have young kids this wasn't practical.

Worst night away I've had in a long time. Having stayed here previously and even having had my wedding party here in 2015 always had a brilliant time with brilliant staff. This time was the worst no atmosphere, no care/consideration for customers, kids everywhere (which I was not told at time of booking as definitely would of made me reconsider staying here), the staff barely wanted to be there never mind the guests. The open plan in the restaurant makes the noise at dinner unbearable. If I could do minus stars on this I would. Emailed to complain last night not even a response or as little as a verbal apology to acknowledge the horrible stay myself & my guest experienced. Horrible experience will never stay again & never recommend to anyone. Jule beauty on the other hand AMAZING!

Definitely 5 stars for this hotel overnight stay because we went for tayto park it's only 6 mins from hotel. Food was amazxinnggg in hotel nicest in a while even got my nails done there and my friend a massage very child friendly lots of entertainment clean rooms fast room service love this place can't wait to come back.

Fab hotel all staff so friendly and helpful. Will definitely go there again. Kids had a ball.

Have stayed before and the place is amazing. It has been upgraded and even better. Customer service is unreal. Restaurant food is top notice. Chris at the restaurant looked after us so well. Perfect family hotel, baby sitting friendly. Perfect for going to tayto park.

Staff courteous and polite. Tasty food. Gym large and well-equipped. The only downside was the mattress, very uncomfortable.

Pleasant Hotel with a typical Irish Breakfast, clean, located just outside of Ashbourne, about 700 m to shopping.

Located on the outskirts of ashbourne. The hotel was undergoing renovation while we were there. No atmosphere at dinner time as it was in a function room. Children from the bar area which had also been relocated to the function room kept running in and out of the room. Tea and coffee at breakfast time wasn't made fresh, instead they had one big container and it was self serve. Bit disappointing for the price paid and unusual for a hotel of this standard. Pool facilities are good but make sure to bring coins for the lockers. Rooms are clean and well sized.

I met a couple of friends from Iowa and we had really friendly service. Overall great experience.

I loved this place because it is so near to tayto park and there is loads of fun activities to do.

I'll start with the two positives — free Wi-Fi and clean room. As for my stay sorely disappointing due to the fact I was always interested in staying here. Landed at hotel and went straight to the pool, the floor in locker room was disgusting. I asked a life guard for a float for the child he gave me a b/s story that they were only for swimming classes, laziness. Luckily the guy at reception gave it to me. Ordered lunch in the red bar, it was dirty and uncomfortable. In the room the air conditioning wasn't working so we baked. During the night we had to open the window we didn't keep it open long because all the night staff were outside talking while there fumes from smoking travelled into the room. Ordered a 20e 8oz sirloin steak that was the worst piece of meat I've ever tried. Cooked grand but the meat inedible with fat. Pool locker room next day was still dirty along the same stretch of flooring. A different life guard on was squeezing down the pool floor right into my face instead of doing something productive like cleaning the dirt. Breakfast was okay but still I asked for a white coffee for breakfast and got a black. Anyway 3 STAR HOTEL at best. Quality of service should justify your rating and this lacks it.

Friendly staff, good hotel rooms, but sauna was closed, steam room and Jacuzzi cold.

Couldn't open window very hot inside room even with airconditiong on! Basic place nothing fancy. Lots to do for the kids. Bad breakfast low quality food. Not that luxurious anyway!

The room was big and clean, but everything else (food & staff) was awful. Will NEVER be back and will not recommend to anyone.

2 nites stay Rooms great apart from 1 thing… 2 adults 2 kids would rather have 2 single beds 4 da kids… Food great Pool great Staff brilliant.
