Could not of pick a better hotel, nice clean room, great view of the town, the staff well what a great bunch of guys, young staff very vibrant, looking like they are enjoying there jobs, the breakfast, full Irish did not feel like it, asked for two poached eggs and bacon, no problem, got a stunning breakfast what I wanted and no waste. I would highly recommend staying here, I would and will return for another visit, to all the staff cheers for making my stay so special.

Traditional Hotel with interesting historical connections. Clifden is an attractive town and we'll worth a visit as a centre for walking or cycling. The hotel staff are very pleasant with Maria a particular star. The bedrooms are comfortable and the breakfasts good quality so overall good value.

Does what it says, grand 3 star hotel in the center of Clifden. Wasn’t staying so idea what the rooms are like. Staff were very good though.

Just spent the weekend there with another couple. Rooms perfect and breakfast was a good standard. Hotel is small but that added to the overall homely feeling. The biggest asset this hotel has is its ever smiling staff. Laressa was wonderful and nothing was a problem. We are already planning to return. Hope I spelt Laressa correctly.

Very dated hotel. Breakfast was ok but felt i'd gone back in time by 20 years. No hotel parking.

Really nice got chocolate. Comfy chairs. Nice, polite staff. Just don't touch the radio. They control it through Wi-Fi.

Horrible experience definitely not recommended. Horrible room. Very noisy inside and out. Rude staff at reception on arrival. Dinner menu was a joke. No entertainment in this hotel. Actually it's not a hotel but a glorified guest house and a poor one at that.

This hotel was booked for us by John, who owns CYCLE TOURS IRELAND. It was a one night stay on an amazing week of cycling. The hotel's name refers to the gentlemen who flew the first transatlantic flight from Newfoundland which landed near Clifden. (Read TRANSATLANTIC, a novel by Colum McCann before you travel to Ireland! ) The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast filling and with lots of choice. The location was ideal for wandering the town after a day of cycling. Go across the street to the grocery store to buy a cup or tub of locally made ice cream! The pub was modern and quiet — nice for visiting. The staff were very friendly. Thanks for the warm welcome to Ireland and for accommodating John, his bicycles, and all of his group!

It's a genuine family run hotel, with friendly service and fab food. Yum yum. Also I love the location as I can sit in the cafè and watch the world pass it has a 'Hogan Stand 'view of the square!

We stayed for 3 nights in Oct, very pleasant, warm and comfortable, rooms very clean. Good was excellent and staff chatty and friendly would recommend.

We stayed at the Alcock and Brown Hotel on the 27th June, 2015, the staff were friendly and helpful. The lamb shanks were cremated and too tough to chew, the sweet potatoes were too soggy. The Irish Stew was mush, totally over cooked and fairly tasteless and more like 'baby food' The fire alarm went off in the morning which disturbed our sleep sadly to stay I would never at this hotel again.

We enjoyed our stay there. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The rooms were clean and bright. The restaurant as excellent. The lamb shank was to die for. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.

I was with my wife in November 1995. I breathed in a unique atmosphere. The owner looked like Meryl Streep. I remember that on the first day of our arrival had the carpenters who made the redesign at reception with curved wood. The parties do not match and then the two carpenters at 20 pm piallavano and transformed the reception in a lathe, with sawdust strewn everywhere.
She calmly and without raising his voice, he left to do. After two hours of fruitless efforts have removed everything and took away the furniture to make it happen again but this time in the appropriate forum. The owner took dustpan and brush, plastic bags and along with an employee of the restaurant they cleaned the desk. The calm of this person, then made me realize how much we Italians, we are hysterical.
The night was special, the rooms quiet and the view of the country is really relaxing, I still remember that night we ordered the duck and its aroma and flavour was very much appreciated by us. Several years have passed and I can't remember the other dishes in those days we were prepared, but the memory of the place is still in my heart.

The Alcock and Brown is a family run hotel in the centre of Clifden Town. The Vickers restaurant is one of the finest in the area. The Alcock and Brown Hotel is ideal is you want to stroll around the town and enjoy a drink in one of the many local bars.

At the end of the summer we went to Clifden in Connemara for a few days golf. We stayed at the Alcock and Brown hotel in the centre of the town. It is under new management and the word was that it was good. We were delighted. The hotel has got a complete face-lift. The food is amongst the best in the West of Ireland. The have a top class chef – we were told. They also have entertainment a few nights a week. This place is going to do really well next summer, when the word gets out. We plan to go back as the golf at Connemara Golf Club is as good as you will find. There are also loads of local walking trails for the non-golfers. Clifden is a long way west, but worth it when you get there. Loved every minute of it. Well done Alcock and Brown team.
