Truntum Padang

We've stayed here on September 2025. We just managed to book this hotel last minutes and we choose it bcos it gives discounted price but only for 2 singles bed option. U cannot choose king or queen bed as the price will spike up. We thought this was a good hotel as most of the reviews said so but its not somehow. The hotel is very old and the basement parking was dark and dirty. There are plenty of car park here in this hotel. Upon arrival the lobby was big and quite grand. The front desk was very hospitable like most hotels in Indonesia. It has 4 or 5 floor of rooms and meanwhile, the room was a big disappointment. There was no carpet and the aircon cannot be control. Upon arrival, our room was not dirty but was not cleaned properly and signs of old furniture and bed and bathroom is so obvious. There were also no shower soap and shampoo provided we had to all receptionist and requested one. The worse part was the TV cabinet which its door cannot be closed properly thus making it opened all the times and the fridge is not working. Worse though the condition of the fridge is very bad, filthy and smelly. U can see the picture I provided. The Wi-Fi on the room was also crappy. U will be on and off the Wi-Fi all the time.
The breakfast was mediocre and cheap and u will have the same menu all weeks long. The swimming pool was ok but small for a hotel this size.

It was once a hotel that suits the presidential visits. Overall, my family and I had decent stays in the hotel. Check-in was smooth. Communication was clear. Room was spacious. Amenities were functioning. Ambience was great. Views from the balcony were amazing. Location was strategic as it was close to the beach and city center.

We had a pleasant 1 night stay in this hotel before flying back to Malaysia. Everything was decent about this hotel. Counter service was good, very welcoming. We booked for 2 connecting rooms for us and my mom. Being traditional, my mom just disliked the fact that the toilet does not have a bidet. Breakfast was also decent. They have a variety of options to choose from what they served. And I saw a lot of Malaysians too. I guess this hotel is one of the top choice hotels for people travelling to Padang. But just do not expect much for the swimming pool since it is quite small.

Hotel Truntum Padang, formerly known as Hotel Inna Muara and once a colonial-era property, unfortunately falls short of the expectations associated with a 4-star rating. The room condition suggests a lack of proper maintenance—dirty walls with visible markings, old and stained bed sheets, outdated furniture, and misaligned lighting create an uninviting first impression. These are basic elements that should be addressed in any hotel, let alone one claiming premium status.
The swimming pool itself is decent, but the surrounding area is poorly maintained, with broken and aged deckchairs diminishing the overall experience. Water pressure in the bathroom is reportedly weak, and the absence of a bidet highlights a lack of standard hygiene features. Air conditioning also underperforms—guests have reported feeling warm even when the thermostat is set to 16°C, which suggests inefficiency in room climate control.
On a brighter note, the hotel’s historical value adds an interesting dimension. Paintings in the lobby narrate fragments of the building’s past and Padang’s colonial legacy, which could appeal to guests who appreciate heritage. The staff are also consistently praised for their friendliness, and the breakfast service stands out with its variety and quality, offering a genuinely pleasant start to the day.

The hotel used to be a Dutch colonial hotel and easily you can find the history of the hotel and few places in Padang from the paintings at the lobby.
Initially the hotel should have earned 4 stars from the spacious room and delicious and variety of breakfast. However, we decided to downgrade to 3 stars due to the crucial factors listed below:
1) The cleanliness of the toilet is not up to the standard as a 4 star hotel (No bidet in the toilet).
2) The air-conditioning was poorly functioning (we feel the heat even though the temperature is set for 16 degree Celsius).

My first time staying in this hotel. It turned out to be above average. The room is spacious and clean. The staffs are friendly. The location is also strategic, especially if you fond of durians.

The rooms need deep cleaning. Breakfast buffet provide a good variety of food but the food quality need so much improvement.
Staff are nice and friendly, thank you. Please deep clean your rooms as soon as possible so they look and feel better.

Ok, where do I start? Dead cat on the front in entry way, told the people upfront and they just laughed. TV is deformed (some sort of damage), not many if any staff speak English, room is ok, staff even tho not speaking English, nice. Basically need serious maintenance, and by the way nobody met us on arrival out of taxi and helped with luggage. Food is mediocre.

Pleasant for a one night stay. Room is comfortable and clean.
Service at the front desk is poor, they didn’t explain anything about the hotel (where your room is, what facilities the hotel offers, what time breakfast is, where the elevators are). These small things go a long way.

Business hotel without business center, really?
I was told to go to the cafe for better internet connection, went to the cafe and no one was there.
Internet is very bad at the lobby, unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.

This is an objective review during my stay here:
— The facilities of many rooms are already unworthy.
— engineering does not take care of the equipment well, for example the air conditioning is not cold, the hot water does not run well.
— the breakfast is boring, the fruit is not fresh, the officers who cook eggs are given to the interns so less professional.
— although the strategic location and staff is rather friendly but this kinda 4 star hotel wich is not worth it, in my opinion.
— Need improvements.

Everything were good except don't expect them to reply to your messages in all channel — booking com, SMS, Facebook, Facebook Messenger and not even email (which was returned back by the server! ).
My ratings would have been 4 but due to their Mgmt not being responsiboe enough to reply, the rating has dropped.

Peaceful, hotel rooms are big and next to Oranje supermarket and ole ole shop. It's a historical Dutch hotel and newly renovated. We love it.

Stayed in many premium hotels but I got the best sleep here. The receptionist "Diva" was very helpful and accommodating. She delivered a superb service when I had an issue with my booking which I made online. Highly recommended.
