Very classy boutique hotel in the colonial district of Jakarta. The staff is friendly and efficient. Food options are somewhat limited given the size of the hotel. Make sure to checkout the rooftop bar to get a great view of downtown at night. Service could at times be more speedy.

Probably the best hotel I ever stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms and bathroom are spotlessly clean and spacious decorated. The rooftop bar and pool I also can highly recommend.

Came here for a friend's wedding. The place is nicely decorated. It has good and rustic ambience. The 'ballroom' is not too big so it is perfect for intimate party or meeting. However, for a wedding party, I think it is not really intimate since the ballroom is too wide hence the guests seated way to separately. But overall I love this place, maybe for a romantic dining or small party.

I stopped by The Hermitage for the first time recently to visit their rooftop venue after seeing the spectacular view of Jakarta at night. This is the perfect spot for a date night, or simply to enjoy an evening by yourself, as I did. The hotel is true to the history of Jakarta; inside you will find reprints of photographs from times gone by, as well as exceptional Chinese ceramics and (I daresay Indonesian? ) wooden furniture pieces in their hallway/anteroom prior to the dining hall. I was received warmly by welcoming staff, with whom I enjoyed a very brief conversation. I strongly recommend the rooftop views, if you're the type of person who avoids the more tourist-inclined spots. My advice is not to follow the first Google suggestions, as you will find yourself back in your home country, if you are a Westerner like myself (if you know what I mean). The only problem I encountered was the rooftop service, who gave me a triple instead of a double, as the server had first suggested. Even by Western standards the drinks are pricey, but worthy.

Coming to The Hermitage Hotel Jakarta is a real experience. Most taxi drivers, don't know the place. Thanks to Google maps which helpful to find the location, indeed. This overpriced hotel I believe is a sanctuary in the mid of traffic jungle in Jakarta. It's located on a quite road in Menteng, Central Jakarta. The most positive aspect about the location is the calm. Most luxury hotels in Jakarta are located right in the booming financial district. The other aspect is its historical building and all the stories written.

Its choose nice style of classic design for the room, with elegance design living room for little talk with guest. It has a rooftop cafe for the dinner and enjoy your evening. Should try the ox tail soup.

An old colonial building turned into hotel. Room was ok but many missing small ammenities. Hair dryer did not work. Phone broke down on 3rd day. Tv was small and cable channel was not at its best quality. Staff was friendly and responsive. Breakfast was standard. Great building and location. Very secluded and quiet yet so close to many location.

Food is fantastic. Facilities are very good; the hotel has a gym and a swimming pool. It also has a roof top to enjoy the sunset/sunrise while chatting with your friends/family. Room is nice and clean.

This is a very quaint little hotel, once you step in you get carried back to the early dutch colony days where the rich is rich and the poor is poor. The service was impeccable in the bar, and the people was very nice. They have a very nice smoking are that made you feel happy. I look forward to coming back here, the only problem is that it is seriously in the middle of the most congested part of Jakarta. But if you are trying to find a safe haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle, this is a great small place to stay.

Awesome choice! I will definitely pick here again once I come back to Jakarta. A very central but quite place; a historical building (used to be a library or so) ; warm service; stylish room with street view (nothing particular though maybe it’s not tall enough) ; a peaceful and dedicated breakfast with good ingredients. Recommended.

If you like staying in a vintage or colonial style design hotel, this hotel is your top choice. This hotel has less than 100 rooms only so it’s more like private hotel but it’s 5 stars hotel. The swimming pool is one thing you should try and enjoy. The famous antique market in Jakarta “Surabaya street” is just a few walks from this hotel. There are some very nice restaurants near the hotel as well and it’s walking distance too.

Hermitage Menteng is very cosy European luxurious and peaceful hotel. I love the fact that it is peaceful. I love their pasta aglio olio and I am very particular about chef not being able to cook a simple pasta. I like the fact their gym is under utilized and I have it to myself :P Their bedding items are comfortable. All their staffs are attentive and polite. They are part of SPG brand. Stayed in Keraton and Westin Jakarta. Keraton accessible to Plaza and Grand Indonesia which is convenient but I don't like Keraton rooms depsite the fact it is luxurious but their bedding sucks. My home bedding — SEALY are all even better than Keraton and their food is not great. Westin food is great location sucks.

It was a abandon business building. Now it become a nice n unique hotel located in center of Jakarta. Inside the hotel you can find out some images regarding the history of this building and Jakarta as well. Recommend this hotel who wish to have a short business trip n holiday at Jakarta.

Now it has been almost 3 months here, I never ever find any particular flaw during my stay, especially if you are SPG platinum member. Bed room is well maintenance in colonial style, food is perfectly prepared and served. Really impressive with every minute in this second home.

Went here as wedding photographer. Nice place with nice ambience. Haven't got any chance to try the foods tho. Will go back for the ambience (and the food) forsure. :)

I didn't have a choice — it was arranged by my job for it's proximity to a specific company in that part of town.
If I had a choice I wouldn't choose this location, it's a bit a middle of nowhere.
Old style interior design is not my thing either…
Shower cabin can fit a basketball team — large and high, but what is the point if water doesn't get hot enough, just likewarm, and pressure is rather weak. On top of that — water fills up the floor of the shower cabin and stays …there "forever". Light in the bathroom is unfortunate — if you need to apply make up, you can't really see anything…
There is complementary coffee (1 normal and 1 decaf capsule with only 2 powder creamers). I happen to need two creamers per cap. Annoyed. The coffee machine was broken, they replaced it but this one is isn't working well either. I take large coffee with almond or soja milk normally. Here it's dripping for 5 min and delivers half-espresso at most. You try to re-run same capsule, but it drips clear water this time. Annoyed-2
First morning I just got up, severely jet lagged hating the world. Doorbell rings. "Can I clean up Madame? " — I mean what kind of of question is that? I will stay in bed while she cleans up? Use common sense please. "No, you cannot clean up, thank you".
"Can I clean up later? "
Annoyed-3. Ok, something positve to be fair: breakfast is fantastic. Bed is comfortable. Room is large. Thereis bathrobe and slippers. Toiletries are nice.

Centrally located, the hotel has a beautifully structured building, with elegantly furnished common areas and rooms. My room was big and very bright, on a corner of the building with a good view. The roof top bar and pool are beautiful as well.

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. It was all very luxurious and neat. Very helpful and friendly personel, and very good breakfast.

Stepped in and was awed by the lobby. Some photos taken earlier before it was converted to a hotel hangs at the ground floor showing the amazing job done to restore the building. Nice cozy rooftop bar — a very creative use of space.

It's historical and well designed. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Only wished they cleaned the window from the outside, so I can have a better view.

Amazing hotel with beautiful 1920s design that will give you an unforgettable staying. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Staff were super friendly. Pool was on the roof and the a lounge on rooftop as well. Room was clean and comfortable.

Definitely my number one hidden gem to spend 'alone time' with myself, my friends or family. The gorgeous interior and architecture have stolen my heart since my first visit! And foremost, one of my good friend works there so she always make sure to take care of my reservation excellently! They serve myself a complimentary cocktail of the month every time I visit (even when the cocktail is not on the menu — can ask them to serve it for me). Excellent hospitality, ambience, service, foods and beverages, etc! A must visit hotel for anyone looking for memorable experience!

This must be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. It just fits perfectly in the surrounding area. The style of the interior is great, the staff is responsive and really well trained and sipping on a beer in the rooftop bar at sunset is the icing on the cake.

Definitely overpriced, but the hotel is gorgeous. My friend and I both found the waiter patronizing and slow, though. When asked to recommend drinks, he didn't even care to explain but merely repeat the names of the drinks as if "silver moon" speaks for itself. Meanwhile, a group of Indonesian high school students were so loudly shouting and screaming but he didn't even ask them to be quieter. Definitely wouldn't recommend the customer service of staff, especially considering this is supposed to be a five-star hotel.

Quit hotel. The restaurant food are tasty. But expensive. Still worth a try though.

The terrace bar offer a very nice city view expecially in the night. But the prices are crazy, very expensive and the service is slow, weak and quiet bad.

Love the hotel decor and the friendly staffs. Not to mention the food in L'Avenue is really great!
