During our backpacking trip through Java, after visiting some of the intense cities and busy tourist highlights, we were ready for a place to truly relax. That’s when we found this little gem on Google: Summerforest in Watukarung, a laid-back surf village with a beautiful and calm clean beach and turquoise sea.
Summerforest really is a small paradise. Just a short walk from the beach, it offers four spacious and spotless cottages, each with a private terrace. The houses are light, stylishly decorated, with a large bathroom and very comfortable beds. And if you feel like a quiet night in, you’ll be happy to know there’s even Netflix on the TV. The green garden with plenty of shade, the lovely pool, and excellent breakfast made our stay perfect. The whole place feels cozy, intimate, and welcoming.
We originally planned to stay three nights but ended up extending to one and a half weeks. That says it all, we loved it! The staff are incredibly kind, flexible and always ready to help. Marley, the owner, speaks very good English and gives great tips for exploring the area or arranging transport. She also runs the Summerfield Café just around the corner, which is a great spot for lunch.
We cannot thank Marley and her team enough for the wonderful time we had here. Summerforest is the perfect place to unwind, and we hope to return one day from the Netherlands!
Nice invorement, 💯 cleaness, unique and beautiful designed, stunning decoration & handicrafts. 1 minute away from the beach. I love it. Honestly this is the most beautiful villa in watukarung beach.

A true hidden gem. It is quiet and the perfect place to just relax and unwind. The room feels brand new, is very comfortable, and has a spacious bathroom with a lot of natural light. The common areas are clean and well-maintained. Highly recommended and worth the price.
