Very basic hotel. Most rooms don't have hot water. Hotel lacks maintenance. Big holes in mosquito screens in bathrooms are not repaired hence a lot of insects in the room/bathroom. Hotel doesn't have a kitchen hence food in the restaurant comes from sister hotel 15 min away by car and is at the very most lukewarm. Far away from the centre, too long to walk along a very busy road. Nice surroundings and friendly staff do no compensate for substandard rooms.
It’s a beautiful resort with a great outdoor area, a big swimming pool, river and calming views all around. The rooms are a little old but comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. We stayed for a night ahead of our Mount Raung hike and they shared a lot of advice for the climb, as well as stored our bikes and valuables while we were away. They then welcomed us back for some complimentary tea and shared recommendations for exploring the nearby area. It’s not a very popular area with foreign tourists but we highly recommend checking out Mount Raung (absolute highlight of our stay in Java, which we loved much more than Ijen) and paying a visit to Margo Utomo Hill View Resort!

What a beautiful location… well off the busy main road, you hear nothing but the sound of the river behind the hotel… the garden and pool area are super relaxing, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean even if slightly dated… very reasonable room rates, perfect place for a staycation!
