We stayed at Banana Homestay for four nights and had a truly wonderful time. The family who runs it is incredibly warm and welcoming. Every morning we enjoyed a fresh and delicious breakfast. The location is also excellent, peaceful, but close enough to everything you need. From the homestay, we visited Red Island and went on a plantation tour, both highly recommended. Banyuwangi has so much more to offer than just the Ijen volcano. We were pleasantly surprised by the charm and diversity of the area. Banana Homestay is the perfect base to explore it all.

Amazing place!
The rooms are immaculately clean and with AC. Generous breakfast and the most lovely hosts you can imagine. They bend over backwards to make your stay as enjoyable as possible!
We were not going to do the hike we booked because of heavy rain and went back to sleep around midnight. The owner came knocking at our door at 00.10 saying we should go, no rain on the mountain. And he was RIGHT! So grateful for this experience.
Highly recommend. Quiet side street with walking distance to local food stalls.

We had a fantastic experience with excellent service from Fryda and her family. They organised our Mt Ijen tour which was great and even woke up early to provide us breakfast before our train trip on to our next stop. We strongly recommend Banana Homestay to any backpackers visiting the area. The town of Banyuwangi is also very beautiful with very friendly people.
