Avrilla Ijen Cool homestay

This hotel has a great location, just a few minutes' walk from the entry point of Mt. Ijen. I stayed here with my family for 1 night and asked if I could use their services for a guide and rent equipment for 3 people. Unfortunately, the receptionist refused me because I'm a local. They only provide services to foreigners. As an Indonesian living overseas, I feel they looked down on local tourists, assuming we don't have the money to spend. They also turned off the water before we checked out at 12 noon. I strongly recommend avoiding this homestay and looking for alternative accommodations nearby. Please find another homestay or guest house that doesn't discriminate against domestic tourists.
Jangan menginap di homestay ini karena rasis ke turis lokal. Saya menginap disini satu dg keluarga dan mau menggunakan jasa sewa guide dan peralatan mendaki tetap ditolak, receptionist bilang cuma kasih service ke wisatawan asing.

Just horrible, impossible to sleep super noisy all day all night, rooms next to the bar. NOT WATER AT ALL, you can't get shower or even flush the toilet. Never again. Book another place!

It’s the best place to stay if the goal is to go to mount ijen. They will pick you up at 2am but either way all the noise and cars parking and people getting ready you won’t sleep after 1am.
I strongly recommend you book a guide as well, for a safety matter!
They will ask you for money to get a health declaration. It is not a scam or fraud. They won’t let you in without. Our guide told us a person died recently (2024) so it’s their new policy for foreigners.
