Great rooms and pool to relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air and beautiful views from the javanese inspired rooms. Loved the food and service too, organized all transfers with their comfortable van.
Close to rice fields, view on Mount Sumbing.
It's such a pity, for this price (~55€ for the family room) I was expecting a very comfortable stay at a villa in the rice fields with a nice pool.
Instead, I got a room in a terrible state that should be urgently renovated (or the price cut by 4), extremely dirty, and with insects everywhere (dead and alive, even animal shit…). And the mosquito net can't even close, it's just a decoration.
Even more disappointing, the pool could not be used, it was disgustingly dirty. And the hotel is next to the main road, so it's very noisy anyway.
On top of all of that, the staff didn't speak a word of English, all conversation, even the most basic, had to be done with Google Translate.
I only took Indonesian food (it's also a French restaurant), which was basic, but for breakfast I had an omelette and they put cheese in it that was definitely not French cheese, it was tasteless.
They also charged a ridiculous amount for a 20min ride by motorcycle (without helmet provided).
If you do decide to stay there, which I obviously don't recommend because for almost this price you can stay at luxury hotels like the Phoenix in Yogyakarta, go for the smaller rooms, they looked cleaner and with less insects. Also, the owners were away in France, maybe it's a bit cleaner when they are here, I don't know.

We spent three nights at Villa Sumbing with our family and had a really lovely stay. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome and took such good care of us.
The setting is beautiful — the pool overlooking the rice fields and volcanoes is definitely one of the highlights. Our room was spacious, very clean and had its own private veranda, which was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The staff were always attentive, friendly and genuinely great throughout our stay. We felt very comfortable here and really enjoyed our three days at Villa Sumbing. A wonderful place to slow down and enjoy this beautiful part of Java. We would happily come back!
