MesaStila Resort and Spa

Our stay at MesaStila was amazing! It really is a place that lets you unwind and enjoy peace and quiet. The place is surrounded by jungle with a gorgeous view of volcanos on the horizon. The villas are authentic homes that have been saved and brought here and are truly gorgeous inside. So a perfect mix of nature and culture. We also enjoyed our Javanese massage, highly recommended! The food was great as well. The service was above and beyond, you really felt like you were with family. Our only regret, staying only 3 nights. I would recommend 5-7 if you’d also like to sightsee. The next time we will do that! It’s a bit remote for taxi apps so be sure to organize any tours with mesastila or someone else before. The locals tours of the coffee plantation and the village were also amazing. This is the place of a lifetime.

We had a wonderful stay at MesaStila recently. The room and view was beautiful and the staff was all fantastic. It was a little far from some of the main sites in the area, so best to stay there if you plan to take advantage of their tours and relax at their spa.
We also had a great experience with the free photo session done by their in-house photographer, Dinda from Loft Moments. The session was free and included a printed/framed photo, but we purchased some digital prints as well since they were great. Dinda was professional and really patient with our kids, and the pictures will be a great memory, as photo shoots are not something that we normally do. Highly recommended!

Staying at MesaStila Resort & Spa was truly enjoyable!
The room was clean and comfortable, with a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views. Breakfast was delicious and varied — a perfect way to start the day. There are plenty of lovely photo spots around the resort, making the whole stay memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and unwind while enjoying nature. 🌿✨

The resort looks lovely (like the photos) and the staff are very kind and helpful. However, it doesn’t live up to the promised quiet retreat. If the first objective of a hotel is to get you a decent nights sleep this place doesn’t do it. There are several mosques in the vicinity that will wake you up at 4am and keep you awake for 30-45 minutes. And you can’t have a siesta during the day, for the same reason. So at the same time that it is too remote for you to go anywhere else to eat, it is not remote enough to allow you to actually rest. The food is decent, but very expensive for the area. One course costs the same as a full meal for 4 in Yogya. There is a small cafe beside the coffee plantation that has a limited range of food, but at least has Indonesia prices. It’s a lovely place for a coffee or lunch, but it closes at 6pm in the week, and they don’t advertise the fact that this cheaper option exists. The hamman is not included, which is amazing given the daily rate. The staff are not always in the right place at the right time. In the evening the bar was often not staffed and in the afternoon the staff were not always at the pool, so we had to dig around for towels. There were cockroaches in the bathroom in spite of the daily cleaning efforts, but the villas are pretty open to.
The elements, so maybe not surprising. All in all, given the very high cost of our stay, I expected to come away more rested. I won’t be going back.

Had an amazing experience at MesaStila. The place is like a small paradise, beautiful garden, coffee plantations, fruit plantations, amazing views, restaurant, spa… and the whole customer service from absolutely everyone was top notch.
Also did photo session with Dinda, from Loft Moments! She was so professional and attentive, I loved the photos and strongly recommend everyone visiting the place to try it.

Tucked away deep in Central Java, wrapped in misty hills and coffee plantations. It’s part of the Mr & Mrs Smith collection, and definitely ticks the boutique box: charming, peaceful, and rich with local character.
The villa is big. Like, big big. Lots of space to breathe, unwind, and pretend you’ve escaped the world. Service is warm and homey — more like being looked after by a gracious host than a hotel team.
But where it fell a little short for me was the dining and inclusion. When you’re this remote, the food needs to really sing and other amenities included— and while it wasn’t bad, it never quite hit the high notes.
All in all, MesaStila is a lovely one-off escape — perfect for a digital detox or a romantic hideaway. But as beautiful as the setting is, I’m not rushing back. A nice getaway, just not one I’ll be putting on repeat.

Everything as expected. Location, food, service and facilities were excellent. Surprised by some traffic noise and calls to prayer so close. Photography session with Arih at Loft Moments was both professional and great fun. Settings chosen for photos were extraordinary.

Well, just superb! Lovely location, staff, and facilities. Breakfast is a bit too English for me, must be as a result of the requests of residents? Infinity swimming pool with lovely views in the middle of a coffee plantation.

One of the best resorts I have ever stayed in. A quaint little place in the mountains of Central Java, rich in history and tradition. The food and especially the coffee they serve is quite the joy. Absolutely worth it for anyone wanting a calmer, more intimate lodging experience.

This boutique hotel offers both a tranquil and romantic feel. The colonial style, plenty of activities and beautiful location make this a wonderful place to stay. We were greeted by the manager (? Noor) who was so courteous and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our lodge was perfect. Large rooms, sunken bath, outside terrace with outside shower/bathroom with stunning views. Beautiful infinity pool, coffee plantation tour and great food and service made this an unforgettable stay on our Indonesian trip. Highly recommend x.

Wonderful escape in central Java. About 90 minutes from Semarang airport. Stunning scenery around this coffee plantation. Villas are immaculate and beautiful. Spa and pool provided a gorgeous retreat! The Java Red restaurant serves scrumptious, locally sourced, delicious fare for every meal. The entire staff is incredibly well coming and friendly. We will be back!

Love the place, the service and the staff. A place where you can feel the fresh air and enjoy the charm of a beautiful javanese Joglo house blending with a Dutch style house as the lobby. Must try is their free activities,. From yoga, coffee plantation tour and village walk tour those are perfect.

The service is excellent. The a la carte menu taste perfect. But nothings special for the breakfast.
The villas are clean. The activities are great. But the public facilities should improve. Such as the swimming pool that have to be refresh.
Overall it is fine but we expected more compared with the price offered.

The resort is truly one of a kind. It has beautifully maintained colonial-style buildings that allow you to step back in time while enjoying modern comforts. The surrounding plantation, along with breathtaking jungle and mountain views, creates a serene atmosphere. The large swimming pool has plenty of lounge chairs and was the perfect spot for my daily swim practice.
The staff is exceptionally welcoming, highly trained, and speaks flawless English. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a complimentary welcome drink and generously upgraded to a larger suite featuring a stunning bathtub and a spacious terrace overlooking the jungle. A small but thoughtful detail that stood out was how the staff remembered my name and provided a warm, wet towel before dinner at the restaurant—a testament to their impeccable service. While I was having dinner, the staff cleaned my room for the second time that day, lit an anti-mosquito candle, closed the curtains, and left a note with a small Indonesian cake. It was a wonderfully thoughtful gesture. The complimentary afternoon tea or coffee, accompanied by a selection of snacks, was another delightful touch.
Breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of dishes with no limits on selection. However, dinner at the restaurant could be improved, especially considering the very high prices. On the first night, the fried fish was overcooked with blackened spots. On the second night, both the satay and rice cakes were served cold.

Such a beautiful place, surrounded by a coffee plantation and lush forest. The hospitality is just incredible. The food here is outstanding and the staff are so lovely. Special shout out to Ahmad to took us on 2 lovely tours.

The hotel landscape is stunning and great place for chillin’ and see greenary, like stay in the village. Breakfast was okay. Service was great, they even give us free upgrade to the bigger one. But, unfortunately, I see mouse walking on the ceiling at the new room 😅🥹
But sorry, if you have more variable menu and delicious, it would be better. More better.
My friend order gado2, peanut sauce too sweet and small portion. Even the cake or jajan from afternoon tea, it taste cheap. Sorry to say this. The chicken and duck was okay… not special though.
I just like their tea and jamu. I hope next time, it would better.

One of the best resort our family ever visited. All the staff were amazing, location is perfect, the room was very well maintained, spacious, and amazingly clean.
The food were okay, with room for improvement to make this place 6 stars resort.
This resort to my family is comparable to Aman resorts.
