This has been the highlight so far of our 3-week road trip round the north of India! We were welcomed in traditional Hindi style before drinking chai and having long chats witb Chhotaram who is eager to tell his guests about Indian traditions. The family's main work is maintaining the ancient art of making the most beautiful interlocking carpets, secret passed down through the generations and demonstrated to us. The whole family live all together on a humble farm but they welcome you with open arms and hearts. The accommodation is simple: mud huts with a cooling system (not A/C) but we slept really well in the midst of the family who slept under the stars. Everything was so clean: simple, genuine and clean. We talked to them, learned to make chai and chapati, ate beautiful food sitting cross-legged in the courtyard, dressed up in saris, and helped babysit for the youngest family member. We were even something of a local sensation as a wedding group who were using their premises couldn't stop staring since many had never seen white skin before. We weren't just guests: we felt a connection and will never forget this incredible experience. While we were 3 adults, children would have a ball playing with all the otber kids too. We can't recommend it more: a touch of the real India.
