Beautiful terraced hotel in Chota Shimla, overlooking a valley, staffed with very nice people. Loses points for food, though, which is middling to indifferent. People scared of macaques would do well to keep their balcony doors closed.

A very nice & cozy hotel to stay in Chota Shimla. Southgate Hotel Chota Shimla has very nice accommodation in this summer vacation. Cool cool breeze is felt in the small gardens of the hotel. Nice staffing and nice room services. One of the best hotels in Shimla.

Most memorable stay. We stayed at Hotel southgate Shimla for 5 nights, I must say they are wonderful. Service is upto mark food is excellent and the rooms are very well appointed. Even during the rush hour they handled every thing so smoothly. The owners them self look into each every point and I will recommend to all my friends.

No business ETHICS no professionalism… Money is the priority. Very bad location of hotel. Far off from mall road and super steep road. Cant even walk properly… Booked two super deluxe category room through MMT. However one was given a super deluxe and other one a normal deluxe room. When we questioned they said they are same… However there was a huge difference in size, view, amenities in the room. Got to know that they gave the other room to someone else and they were trying to fit us into a deluxe one . Later had a quarrel with the owner and then MMT intervened and we were just given a discount of 1k. Not at all happy with the services.

Well it is good in terms of cleaning. But have a small parking. Service is good.

One of the best hotel I have stayed. Superb location away from busy town, well maintained, ample parking kids area and beautiful room with perfect view. Loved the food and the hospitality.

Perfect location being away from the noise of main town and close enough to not being termed far from the town area as well. A very well constructed and tastefully designed hotel with a good in-hotel parking space, which generally is a problem in Shimla. The property is beautiful with an amazing view from its rooms facing the valley side. Being a local, I'm a frequent visitor of their restaurant. They actually serve one of the best prepared food in town from a very vast food and beverage menu. The staff is very professional and ensures your comfort to the fullest. There have been one or two not so great food moments here, but the staff and management has always taken our feedback and rectified whatever little ever went wrong.

I am rating this based on my takeaway order that I just received. I ordered veg hakka noodles, lemon chicken and one plate chicken steamed Momos. The rate charged for one plate of Momos is RS. 310 whereas the lemon chicken dish was for 210 which is very surprising. When I asked the restaurant about this, they said that this is the price. I was not informed about the Momos price while placing the order. I feel that the plate of Momos was overpriced.

Good hotel with all the amenities required. Services were satisfactory.

Nice and clean hotel with awesome rooms, good service and food within the budget. Ample parking space is also a plus.

This place is located a bit far from the city center, but no complaints. Rooms are a bit small. It has an open area behind the hotel that's frequently visited by beautiful birds. The dinner buffet is kind of fixed where we need to select from a menu. But the staff may make few items off the menu and have it part of the buffet menu. Room service was prompt, with helpful staff all around. All-in-all a good place to be!

Nice property and very good staff team. Rooms are clean and size is also reasonably good. Lawn and open area is really a big advantage. One can enjoy good view and open air in the hotel itself. Food quality is superb. Buffet breakfast is elaborate and really worth. Room service and house keeping both are satisfactory. Only drawback is its distance from Mall Road. It is 25 Min walk from Hotel (We tried it) … In good whether 20 min walk is not a big challenge. If going by own car, I fully recommend it. Parking facility is available.

The property is ok but very far from the main attractions of shimla and also there is a lot of noise of honking horns because it is in chotta shimla market… the food is average and so is the location. One can get far better rooms and hotels at the prices that these peoople are charging. Overall, it is a expensive hotel and the food is also expensive.
