Excellent food. Relaxed but good service and beautiful location.

Had the vegetables and it was awesome. Came with barley, salad, yams and roasted cauliflower! Possibly the best meal I ate while in Iceland!

Awesome service hearty portions. Half of the family is vegetarian and they were very happy with the options not on the menu. Most were made of sides.

Very expensive for what it actually was. A simple meal. What made up for the cost was the beautiful place that the restaurant was placed, right besides the coast.

Our stay at Englendingavík emerged as one of our top places to stay in Iceland — especially for the VERY reasonable price. Einar greeted us himself, coming out of the kitchen in his apron during a late dinner rush to introduce us to his sister and show us to our room. Our AirBnB lodging was situated in a small, cozy wing of the house with a few other rooms, a shared kitchen and shower/bathroom. A hot tub in a small courtyard was available for on-site relaxation and star/aurora borealis-gazing. And our room was perfection, with decor that had artsy personal touches — so refreshing after so many corporate-style lodgings. Once settled in we could not wait to get to the dining room among other guests, travelers and groups of locals. The ambiance was worldly and at the same time intimate; though I was a tired mess I still managed to mumble the plot to 'Babette's Feast' to my husband, reminded of the film by the warmth and grace of this enchanted place. The staff and chef were kind & reasonable enough to accommodate our multiple allergies and the service was of the highest standard. Access to the Bay and the Settlement House made this a 'must-stay' for the two nights we were in Borgarnes and a perfect jumping-off place for our foray into the interior, with helpful tips from Einar.

Charming! Once upon a time this place was a house, built in the 1800's and used by some enterprising individuals catching and canning salmon, today it has been turned into a lovely spot to eat, drink coffee, and linger. The owner was there working as was part of his family, and he was keen to tell us about the history of both the property and some of the Icelandic traditions. The food was excellent and the service was friendly, I would absolutely return!

Local dishes, very fresh and tasty seafood, cute interior with water views, friendly staff.

Wonderful meal and service. Ordered the fermented shark, lamb goulash and the blue ling (catch of the day). Seemed a bit more expensive than the average, but price was in line with the experience. Highly recommend and would come again.

This restaurant is located by the fjord in an old house dating back to 1885. I had the catch of the day, Atlantic cod and the seafood soup, both of which were excellent. Service was friendly an attentive. Reservations recommended if you are dining on a Friday or Saturday evening.

This restaurant offers a unique setting and a delicious variety of food. The view is beautiful and customer service was great! Would 100% recommend.

Cute place, decent food. The rainbow trout was good, but everything needed more salt. Fish soup unremarkable and the bread was cute (tiny), but not the freshest. The back room has a beautiful view, but sadly we weren't able to sit there.

The hotel has rooms with shared bathroom. The rooms are spacious with an amazing view. The kitchen girl but well equipped. Bathrooms are missing.

The hotel does not match the photos. The approach is not suitable for rolling suitcases, is located on the hillside and the reception is not good to find. The room is very small with antique furniture. When cooked in the kitchen, it smells very strongly in the room for food. A lamp did not work at all. There is also hardly any noise and you get everything that happens in the other rooms and in the kitchen. It has two showers that were very unclean and were not cleaned in the evening either. You had no way of hanging clothes or anything else. It had tons of hair in the shower, so the water could barely run off. Not recommended!

Wonderful Location, directly on the sea, with beach from which you can enjoy a wonderful sunset. The room is large, clean and well furnished, with excellent parquet. Clean bathrooms. There is also a small hot tub in the open air, available to customers. Recommended.

Food, service and location are excellent. Husband and I ate here on a glorious sunny day and the view was sublime. Prices were moderate. We ate the special, cod with root vegetables, and it was beautifully presented. Dish was delicious. Quaint atmosphere with homey feel. Would love to return.

A hidden gem. The cuisine here features local favorites and us nothing short of excellent. A friendly staff, waterfront view, and a gem hidden from the tourists. Highly recommended. The seafood soup is particularly delicious as is the lamb main course.
