Budget solution, cheap and simple. Clean rooms and facilities, and it's pretty much all you can ask for. "C'était bien" — Ingrid.

Friendly and helpful lady at the reception. Had a single room, very small — ok. No closet, well. 2 communal bathrooms next door, one went, the other quite nice.
But what is absolutely unreasonable is the noise level. Guests who bang around one doors at night, smoke in front of the room window (it stinks, so windows too …! ) and chat, shower … Corrosive! If you are looking for a bed to sleep without getting drunk first, you are in case it out of place here. Reckless fellow guests really don't need a normal person: — (Wanted to give three stars, but that's really too much.

Very friendly welcome. Large, clean, and practical with two children 5 and 6 years old; We only stayed one night in a room of 4. Water and sanitary room in common for two bedrooms. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Service and equipment ok however, if it is fully booked more sanitary facilities would be good:)

Clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the staff friendly and helpful. Placed in a strategic position to visit beautiful places.

I didn't stay here overnight, but some others in my group did, so I was able to see some of it and use the kitchen area. The room I saw was nice and those who stayed there enjoyed the place. The kitchen was nice too.

Super clean! We had to take our shoes off at the entrance (love that) and the first thing I noticed was that the bathroom was spotless. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and showed us where everything was. The kitchen has everything you need to make yourself a nice meal. I plan to return to Iceland, and I will definitely return here!

Very clean, a very large kitchen, a small room, which is a good thing: less people coming and going in the morning.

Sadly not enough time here this year, so I’m coming again 2019. This hostel is the ideal place for a base to explore the coast an hour and a half either way. The local Netto is great for your shopping also. The new owners have poured their heart and soul into this project and will likely be the standard by which all hostels are judged. Amazing!

Very helpful staff Rooms are a bit cold and drafty but the kitchen is very well stocked and very efficient.

I really liked this hostel. It was very well maintained and managed. Enough number of washrooms, large kitchen and good limited beds in one room. The place was clean and the staff was great.

We're realy wellcome Here every body's smily, frendly. The "boss", men working, stop to care on you. "Do you want something, need something? " I spend 3 weeks in Iceland. There're the best. Room, kitchen,. All clean Nothing To say more. Thank a lot To this good team. It was a good rest.

As a hostel, I found it a very comfortable place. Toilets clean, kind staff and very equipped kitchen. Very nice.

I ADORE this hostel. I was only there for one night and wish I could have stayed longer. It was quaint, quiet, and full of friendly guests and families. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked. The rooms are comfortable, light and decorated nicely. The bathrooms were nice and included a sauna. Everything was very clean. The village is adorable and I had an amazing (somewhat pricey meal) at a small restaurant in the village center. This is a perfect stop for a quiet relaxing getaway in a mountain town.

Everything you need, but at a very steep price. Comfy beds, had a 2 bed private room. Quiet, they care about the environment, lots of recycling options. Big kitchen with all the necessary equipment for preparing a decent meal. Nothing special decor wise sadly.

I had 2 week trip booked to Iceland. Unfortunately I didn't get to go, as my dad was hospitalised and was in critical condition. Every single hotel and hostel I called to cancel my bookings was happy to do so without charging cancellation fees (regardless of their existing policy) due to extenuating circumstances. Even the car rental company and the airline were happy to refund me. This hostel? Refused to refund a measly $54. While $54 is nothing to cry over, it's the principle of the matter — I understand booking policies, BUT many hotels and hostels around the world understand stressful circumstances for their customers. It says a lot about a company if they are willing to hold onto a few $ from potential customers and give nothing in return. When I get a chance to visit Iceland, I will be avoiding this place.

Not bad. The kitchen is pretty big.

Cozy and nice. They do not have breakfast service but they let you use their kitchen which is very well equipped.

Very good. The only bad thing is that they make you pay €10 if you arrive after check in time.

Quaint, cozy, and comfortable, Hofn HI Hostel delivers quality accommodations and servives. The kitchen is large and the facility has many washrooms and showers. A bit on the pricey side considering the price of other hostels.

I'm here second time. First time in October 2016, the second time now. Everything is much better, clean rooms, toilets and public zone. Very nice crew. Good change, congratulations!

The rooms are quite upgradeable. The bathroom is always shared. The sleeping bags are charged separately, if you do not have them. Very expensive considering what they offer.

We were not in the main house, but in the side. The House was very well decorated; very nice beds, very nice kitchen and great room. Everything was perfectly clean. Unfortunately, neither ours nor the main house had some atmosphere. It seems quite Loveless. Breakfast was far too expensive for the offer. Anyway, there's the point deduction mainly the very bad value for money due to.

Unfortunately, neither of the main house some atmosphere. It seems to be quite unloving. The Breakfast was much too expensive for the offer. There are the points deduction mainly because of the very bad price-performance ratio.

Typical hostel. The breakfast was wayyy over priced — don't do it; it's not worth it. Bed linens not included, bring a sleeping bag. Some of the charging outlets didn't work. Good central location.

Nice hostel in this small town, with easy access to the lagoon. Very friendly and courteous staff, rooms clean and spacious enough.

Not the best experience — this hostel had a weird vibe. There weren't any couches and it wasn't set up well for people to meet/talk to each other. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. Pillowcases were stained. Incredibly overpriced compared to other hostels in Iceland. Next time I'd camp at the campsite half a mile away.

Very unfriendly host! Sitting in the lobby is not allowed after checkout. Got thrown out. Beds are uncomfortable. Didn't receive our pre-reservation, pre-paying was lost! If there's any chance, go somewhere else. Camping at — 5°C is more recommended.

Overpriced, even for Iceland. Beds are uncomfortable and noisy. Rooms smell mouldy. Service on front desk was largely absent. Keys are attached to a tag that weighs the same as our hire car, presumably to stop people stealing them. Bad vibes in the main TV area. At least it's better than sleeping in the car.

Very unhappy experience here. I need the hotel to provide documents for my visa application. All other hostels in Iceland replied to me except this one. I sent them an email and no one reply. I waited for 3 days and sent an follow up email. Again, no reply. I understand that sometimes people get annoyed by tons of email, so I decide to call them. I explained my situation and describe what I need. The staff was very impatient and acted like that he did not want to hear my talking. I am cool about this and guess I might call him at a bad time. He asked me to send an email again and list what I want. I confirmed the email address (which is exactly the same email address I contacted them before). After the call, I re-sent my email immediately. Again, no response in the next two days. I called them again. The same person picked the phone. He simply just hanged off my call even before I could finish my talking. I am more inclined to believe this is due to the poor cellphone signal. Anyway, I decided to give up. There are tons of alternative choice in Hofn. Why should I ruin my trip here?

A very popular hostel along the southern coast. It was pretty crowded while I was there. The key to your room is attached to a lead weight that is somewhat inconvenient. There is an industrial kitchen available with 2 stoves, 2 refrigerators and a heavy duty oven. I had to wait a while for someone to show up at the desk to check in. Seems somewhat understaffed for the number of people staying there. Some guests didn't clean up after themselves in the kitchen which is just rude — — not a fault of the hostel itself.

Room smelled bad, bed and sheets had stains, it was a distance from anything else interesting. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Hated this hostel. It smelled like death, and people turned off the lights while I was taking a shower (light switches are on the OUTSIDE of the room! ) Crappy kitchen also. The rooms are clean and tidy though!

Great place in a great location. It is a bit expensive but I suggest having a walk around it. It is just si relaxing. Only advice is to watch out for birds… they can attack you if you walk too close to them.

Dirty, overpriced, no service. Shower was mouldy, had poor drainage with wet floor, the tap was leaking badly despite the save water sign next to it. Mattresses are thin, beds are creaky. And it was still 4500Isk for a bed in a 6 bed dorm.

Simple and clean hostel with rates in line with rates hotel in Iceland.
Large well equipped kitchen and nice common area.
Some rooms are as meanly, which isn't especially annoying to sleep.
One criticism: the inner temperature probably the residue of his last retirement home.

Largely overpriced — our $250 per night family room should have been priced half of that. Otherwise clean and convenient, nothing special though…

We are now in the new building. I have a little thing to say. Maybe you should have make a smaller bathroom and so you could have separate it from the toilets (I have been waiting 30 min! )

It was 3k ISK for common sleeping area or 9k for a room with 4 bed. Bunk style. Two ppl.

Nice and clean hostel with plenty of space. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed it.
