Rooms are poorly equipped and there are no facilities on site for guests to visit or enjoy. Hotel restaurant service staff treat guests bad attitude, in the provision of catering, often in accordance with the waiter's own wishes to provide services, regardless of the reasonable request of the guests, restaurant staff seem to mistakenly think that they are providing free meals to guests, please do not forget that guests are required to pay, and guests just ask for reasonable returns, such as no guest support, Not only hotel staff, even this hotel can not continue to operate.

Another small family establishment in Iceland with warm hospitality, good facilities, magnificient view and great breakfast. Highly recommended!

Fantastic place to stay near Dyrholaey and close 10 min drive to Vik for dinner and sights. Not ultra fancy but very clean and has a large breakfast buffet and dining hall. Rooms can be loud if people are loud in the hallways.

Very basic hotel, however our room was really spacious but cosy at the same time. Only downside was the truck parked outside our window! Staff were very apologetic and offered us a different room.

Beautiful Panorama. Comfortable rooms with big TV and comfortable armchairs.

Quiet and well placed place to observe the northern lights!

Hotel Dyrholaey is on a large hill overlooking the farming valley below between restive volcanic hills and the Atlantic Ocean on the Southern portion of Iceland, about a 13 mile drive West of Skogafoss waterfall. It has 190 rooms that are nicely appointed. Rooms face either to the North (mountains) or the farming valley and the Atlantic Ocean. The meals were excellent. They have full bar service as well.

Because of its location on the hillside, facing the panoramic sea view, the view is very good, plus the room size is wide, very comfortable.

Rooms are comfy, but the hotel is open to wide groups coming by bus, so sometimes it can be pretty noisy. The breakfast is so-so, and some staff doesn't speak very good English. The road leading to the hotel has severe holes: pay attention if you don't have a 4x4 Jeep.

At first, the view from my room was astonishing, hence there are two stars, otherwise the service was poor. The rooms were not cleaned during the day, there was an overnight power cut, meaning I had to shower with a head torch and the breakfast along with dinner, was adequate. Overall, my experience in this hotel has been horrible and unnecessarily stressful.

Lost in the middle of nowhere but with a superb point of view.

Nice location, clean rooms, tasty dinner and good breakfast. Unfortunately crowded and way too noisy in the dining room.

It's nice hotel and in a really good location. But the beds are small and too soft for me. The breakfast is great.

We were lucky to have gotten the recently built wing. Clean, spacious rooms. En suite bath. Snow storm outside. Warm inside. Decently insulated; insufficient enough to keep the drown out the howling wind noise at bay. Great restaurant. Excellently prepared food. Steep prices. Captive audience comprised exclusively of Iceland's massive in flux of tourists (us included).

Basic rooms but clean. Nice views. Feels like a motel from the 80s in the US. Thin walls, can hear the person next door snoring. Basic food. Good but expensive. Nice breakfast. Saw the northern lights from the backyard.

I think this place is perfect. Why? Because it is enjoyable for northern lights; it is insider the Vik I Mirdal, Brekkur a silence and atmospheric place where you can see the black sand and the glacial. Room are clean, large and quiet. Restaurant foods and beers are delicious (breakfast, Salmon, pork with mushrooms, soup). Staff is friendly. One of my favourite places!

Excellent for spotting the auroras, very nice staff, menu not typical and definitely reduced.

Great food, great staff. But sadly, I was encountered with an issue. There I was, sipping bepsi, but then, wait a minute, that was CONK! COnK, in the daytime? I am a proud conk and bepsi lover, but I was overwhelmed with having to make the decision of which I wanted. So I wanted to sip all of the bepsi in Iceland.

Decent rooms and good food in the south of Iceland.

The Hotel Dyrholaey captivates with its breathtaking location. We had a fantastic view. However, the hotel is partly frumpy furnished, and in the dining room, where in addition to our tour group there were 3 other Fed, there was a dinner at school canteen level. Still recommended.

We felt comfortable there.

Very good hotel. We spent two nights in a circuit in the south of Iceland. We eat very well.
Bonus: The place is ideal for observing the aurora borealis, if the weather is the part;-)

One night stop to see the aurora borealis. Mission accomplished because the place is well.

Great place to stay. Surprisingly large. Interesting display of stuffed birds at the Bar. Rather large dinning place, might be crowded.

My daughter stayed a night at this hotel on a school trip — and left her trainers there. After emailing the hotel, they arranged for someone to take the trainers to an address in Rekjavik where a friend was visiting — we got the trainers back! Many thanks to the administrators in the hotel. We are very grateful!

We called to make sure it was ok if we came in "late" (10pm) and they said it was fine but when we got there there was no one and we had to wait around till a guest at the hotel found us and fortunately he knew where to find someone to call. Other than that rooms were very basic but were ok for a night and breakfast was quite disappointing.

Newly built condos. The rooms were in mint condition. The view in front of the hotel is really nice. The restaurant is average. The staff is helpful, but the dining area contain huge table groups, much like school diners. Also, they only had 3 out of 8 listed beers. The food was average and nothing spectacular.

Breakfast is very nice, the rooms are standard. They can get very hot so be careful. Showers are very nice in the rooms. However the dinner was not to be saught after.

Location at the top of a hill with amazing views!

It is a simple farmhouse, but in beautiful position, composed of several bodies, preferable the outermost because new rooms, very slim acceptance, excellent porterage, simple room, no telephone, ample, simple furnishings, modern bathroom, good dinner, but Simple, good breakfast.

Car accident blocking the road led us to kill some time here. Excellent service with complimentary coffee and tea. Great spot!

Good: The hotel is located right in the middle of the places worst seeing in the region. There is a Black Beach, Dyrhólaey, Lighthouse, and many other nice places only few minutes drive away. Not good: The breakfast selection was not big, and through the breakfast should last until 10 am it was almost empty already by 9:30

Great. Big rooms, tasty food, free Wi-Fi.

Nothing special, but at least it's close to Vik (black sand beaches). Really close to some great scenery! With that said, the beds are actually super comfortable. The food here leaves a lot to be desired — the breakfast is terrible (large selection but nothing is actually good… the eggs are really soggy). The dinner I had (lamb) was too dry and you could tell it was a bad part of the animal. The cod looked really good though.
