Hostel Iguana Azul

We had a lovely stay here. Staff super friendly, like everyone we met in Honduras :)
The private room was ample size, with fan on the ceiling to keep things cool. The noise of the nearby birds at dawn and dusk were amazing :)
It's located on the outskirts of the town, but it's a short walk into the centre.
They have plenty of information in the lobby / common area.
Very peaceful and quiet when we were there, much like Honduras in general. I can imagine this was the kind of place that really used to pop before Covid :' (
Hot water in the showers was wonderful — our first for absolutely ages!

Literally the best hostel we stayed in during our visit in Honduras! Friendly and nice host, clean rooms and really clean sanitary. There is a guard outside the front door to let you in at night. A short walk away from the city centre! The restaurant next door has really good breakfast (from the same owner)

Amazing experience! Would go there again. Nice staff. Good location and most importantly very clean. Hot showers with good pressure. Helpful staff. Love love love.

Great place at the end of Copan. 10-15ish minute walk to the ruinas. Because its at the end of the town its more quiet. Ypu can use the garden of the neighboring hotel — casa del cafe to chill and watch the view.

Superb. Shares breakfast with the neighboring hotel (same owner) with a very nice view. They really do take care of the details, super clean, friendly, quiet, and well located, 3 minutes from the center. Owner is on site and managing the place which makes it top. Super, super charming. Our 4 kids and ourselves loved it. Way above 'backpackers standards'.

This is one of the most well run hostel in all of central/South America, and trust me, I've been around. The private rooms with shared bathroom were just perfectly priced and designed, it was just a great place to stay. Hostel beds seemed very nice as well. You can just tell how much thought went into designing the whole place and it just works. Everything is very clean, and this is only hostel I encountered that cleans the room and bed every day. I guess only hassle is staff is not usually at the premise and you have to go to the restaurant right next to it to get the front door opened, but it wasn't much of problem for me. All the staffs are very professional and helpful, and the owner knows what he's doing. It is shame it gets less visitors than some of other hostels in the region because Honduras is off the beaten path, even though Copan is the most popular place in the whole country, along with bay islands. All in all, if you do decide to visit Copal, (and I tell you you must) this should be where you stay. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. There's something almost magical about this place.

This place deserves 6 stars.
Good rooms, nice ambience and incredibly nice staff — everything for a very cheap price. When you need something, you are taken care of. The organisation of everything is perfect (and I say this as a German :) ). The view of the terrace in the restaurant is a dream.
One of the best hostels I have ever been to, highly recommended.

Excellent little place with a choice of dorms, private room or apartment priced accordingly. 5 — 10 min walk to central square. Very clean and quiet good wi fi, recommended.

Compared to All the other hostels I have been in Latin America for 6 weeks, this is definitely:
— the cleanest.
— best Service (room service, towels)
— Best (hot) shower.
— Best "self-laundry application"
The staff is really friendly, there is drinking water and you can have amazing homemade food with an amazing view in the Café next to the hostel, that belongs to the same owner.

Very nice hostel. Beds were comfortable, and everything was sparkling clean. Breakfast next door was fantastic as well, highly recommend!

One of the best hostels in Central America. Very clean and comfortable. Quiet. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Nice shower and clean bathroom. There is nice local eating place down the street serve delicious Pupusa.

Pros: great service, great food, good amenities, good internal security, very walkable, very homey, affordable.
Cons: little privacy in dorms.
Next time I'm here, I'll stay here again; definitely worth a visit. The town is adorable and pleasant.

Very nice place to stay. They have a fridge and hot showers. Breakfast at the cafe was good.
Friendly staff.
The room was quite dusty. You have to go to the cafe next door to ask them to open the door each time you enter the hostel.
Not really a common area to socialize.

Prior to making my Copan Ruinas accommodation booking, my travel guide lonely planet read "As far as backpacker accommodations go, you aren't likely to be more comfortable at too many other spots in Central America. " After reading the above sentence I booked my accommodation at Iguana Azul straight away without bothering to check alternatives. When I arrived and stayed a couple of days at this hostel every word that lonely planet had written about Iguana Azul was spot on!. I travelled all the countries of Central America during this trip and only wished if there was just one Iguana Azul in each of them! From the ever welcoming smiles of the staff, the impeccably clean every thing, amazing breakfasts, complimentary drinking water. Etc. Etc. To helpful, resourceful and super organized owner Howard. It felt like a very well oiled hosteling system geared towards the comfort of travelers. If there was a prize for the best hostel; Iguana Azul would be right at the top! :)

Appreciated our experience at Iguana Azul. One of the top hostels that we stayed at throughout our trip. Great bathroom/shower stalls as well as both private/dorm style rooms (we did both). Highly recommend the restaurant next door which is owned by the same couple. Will recommend this to others who plan on visiting Copan.

The rooms were nice, beds were comfy (relative to other hostel bunks) and they provided a towel. Ladies at reception next door were super nice and very helpful. Located a bit of a walk from the centre and bus terminal but it's really not an issue because the town is small anyways and it makes your night a bit quieter.

Super nice hostel, neighboring with the sister hotel where you can have breakfast. Spa and a beautiful garden view.
The hostel is nice, clean and very well equipped. You'll find loads of advice, well enough facilities and fans.
If I'd had to mention some potential for improvement, then it would be the materesses in the double, bust still well doable.
Would stay here again!
