Back from Easter vacation at the magnificent guest house, Apeiros Chora, in Kato Pedina, Zagori, Epirus. Apeiros Chora is a real jewel that weds tradition with high quality modern comforts. The Kontouris family home, built around 1860, takes you on a journey into the past when the area was home to big time merchants who dominated trade in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. The architecture, masonry and grandeur reflect their financial success as well as their cultured taste. The reconstruction of the home reflects the creativity and dedication of Yiorgos and Athina to preserving the old with a view to future.
Now Yiorgos and Athina are your hosts always willing to enlighten you with the history of the home and household furnishings and also Lista, their four legged furry one, ready to play and cuddle.
The guest house is always warm and cozy from the heat generatated by their environmentally friendly system with pellets and the constant baking of the best brioches, cookies and croissant you have ever eaten.
Breakfast is taken all together at a long wooden table in the middle of their super modern, spotless kitchen. Conversation ranges from the trail markings (some good, some not so good) to the volume of water in the rivers, to the flora and fauna of the area and where to find the best vegetable pies.
Excellent 7-room "hotel" — more like a guesthouse. Personal touch by the owners. Totally renovated centuries-old mansion. Very nice breakfast. Comfortable rooms, very good amenities, ie. Heating, shower, bed etc. Definetely not for people with restricted mobility though.

I loved everything from the position to the cleanliness and beauty of the place. Rooms are perfectly organized, really comfortable besides being pretty and well furnished, all of high quality. Beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast is of top quality made of local products and homemade marmalade. These very kind, friendly and extremely professional staff can offer the best accommodation at Zagorochoria. Strongly recommended. Loved the place and will certainly be back.
