As an American who just came to Switzerland, I stepped into storybook Europe for my quarantine! Not only are the rooms at Grotto Flora upscale and charming with views of the mountains but it’s the local family owned business that makes this a sought after destination. They have an outdoor restaurant where locals and tourists come to eat the fresh food grilled on a 1600 fireplace every night. Everyone sits amongst fresh flowers and enjoys wine under the stars. The building itself is a charming 17th century home of a noble man. The family speaks perfect German, Italian, French and English. I did not want a cookie cutter hotel chain and when you imagine a European restaurant and setting… this is it! The windows are open at night where I can smell the wood grill getting started. Perfect ten out of ten!

The food is fantastic, the staff very attentive and friendly. The rooms are clean and have a pleasant size. We'll be back.

A great quiet old house tucked in the trees. An allways-smiking women will make your stay comfortable and pleasant.

Excellent Grotto, crispy and well seasoned ribs, tenderloin of soft and very tasty deer. Nice service and environment from early century glassworks with fireplace in the center.

Great food and always very friendly welcome. Wines are perhaps not a cheap one.

The best grilled meat I've tasted in Switzerland. Also the best (home-grown) wine I've tasted in Switzerland. Madame Flora is the sweetest lady I've ever met, and I am constantly looking forward to my next visit there. It's so good, I eat myself into a stupor every time. Go here, relax, and get pampered. Dear God, it's good.

Grotto located in a beautiful location. Excellent meals from the kitchen (typical dishes) and very friendly staff (also vegetarian menu). Ample parking and possibility of overnight B&B.

One of the best Grottos for meat. The staff is very friendly and the grotto feels like someone's home. It also has the best Tiramisu that I've ever tried.

A fantastic place out of time where everything appears to be stopped at the end of the 19th century… The rooms are comfortable with lots of character and the restaurant (typical cuisine from Ticino) offers excellent risotto and a good selection of meats from the grill. The buffet lunch and full with fresh produce!

Simple, local management very likeable, good grilled meat accompanied by abundant contours typical of grottoes in Switzerland.

After our stay the hotel cancelled the booking as "No show" via booking, com, obviously to avoid paying fees to the booking provider. This is why 1 star… other than that it is a lovely place in a calm environment. 20 mins to reach by bus 436 from the main station. Please note it isn't just a bed and breakfast, it has a reastaurant too and there was a birthday party all night that was really loud and long lasting. Probably just our 'luck', other than that fine, I just wish they weren't cheaters.

Accommodation with much charm. The rooms are comfortable. The modern bathrooms and everything is very clean. The exquisite service and the environment where it is very quiet and Nice. Recommended.

Great family restaurant atmosphere. Very good service. Great value. Excellent ribs, salad, polenta, sorbet. Will return soon. Great grotto option in Lugano. Indoor seating in the winter, outdoor in the summer.
