If you're looking for a low budget hotel in the town centre of Iraklion, the El Greco Hotel will do just fine — you'll have to find yourself happy with a bed, a mini fridge, somewhat working internet and a small bathroom, yet the Aircon is a happy addition to the room in the hot Greek nights. The hotel staff is friendly and the room was clean — despite happily awaiting a renovation. It's easy to reach the airport in the early morning hours by taxi, because the taxi rank is just outside the hotel — I paid a mere 10€ to get to the airport in under 15'.

I was there for one night to catch the plane. Location: in the middle of the center.
A little detached welcome in reception. Room 306 clean and tidy, with well-functioning air conditioning, empty but active fridge and TV.
It would require a small maintenance the bathroom, from which came a smell of moisture, the door was a bit ruined and closed badly and the exposed pipes were oxidized.
Breakfast for my tastes I would rather do it in a bar. All in all I would go back.
PROS: Very central, cheap position.
CONS: Dated structure.

Not bad for 1-2 nights. No toothpaste and water, it's not very good.

Great position city center rooms are good with balcony staff friendly speak English.

Rooms smelled like mold, shower couldn't fit a grown person, staff was unfriendly, best just stay away! They even managed to serve rotten fruit during breakfast…

The hotel was very nice and the location was very good, 50 meters from the Venetian center value for money unbeatable end of March I paid the double room 30 euros with breakfast! Free Wifi It's important.

Nice and quiet. The studios are superbly furnished and very spacious. It is run by very friendly Petdonsl. Paleochora is a very nice place with beautiful beaches, good restaurants, with very friendly ringing. From here you can take very nice hikes and enjoy Cretan nature.

Very small room but I was only there for a few hours. It was just a pit stop. Very clean. Great staff on reception. Very helpful.

Well located, room clean, bathroom small and the person on reception that we did not know if it is that you do not know much English, or, not helped us much in our doubts.

Never again. I realise it was cheap, but this was nasty too. The only thing that worjed ok was tge air-conditioning. Very central location. Forget about parking.

Cheap and basic hotel in a great location in the middle of the city. Perfect if you need somewhere basic and cheap, but well located. Don't expect any luxuries though!

El Greco is located in a central position in Heraklion: thus it can be used as a base to visit both the city and central Crete. Near the hotel there's a bus stop (line 2) to go to the Knossos site: don't bother getting to the bus station at the harbour. The rooms are fine, but our bathroom was a little small and not very comfortable. Personnel is ok.

Clean and well located hotel.
The rooms are quite rudimentary but nice and with the necessary.
Two points to take back:
The breakfast, really really just in the quality and the proposals.
And the lack of a tiny smile of the lady and the gentleman at the reception. Polite, no more.

Brilliant for location. Not a dump but not very plush. Small showers and very basic rooms but it'll do for a couple of days. Maybe a week would be pushing it.

Friendly staff. The facility is a bit to review. For one night as a base is fine. Great location.

Right in the centre, comfy room with balcony, TV, shower and clean comfortable beds. Hotel generally clean. 2 lifts and a decent breakfast. Reception open 24 hrs. Helpful multilingual staff.

Nice hotel though the rooms and the bathroom are very small. It's well located though with everything you'll need a few steps away. The staff is nice and polite and willing to do their best for your stay to be confortable. Holidays are about beach and visits, not about staying in the room all day, so I would recommend it if you're on an adventurous trip.

Lousy service from the receptionist.

The hotel is in the centre of Iraklion, 5 minutes walk from the Morosini fountain and 10 from the Archaeological Museum. There's a taxi rank nearby and buses from the square by the Museum. It's on the main road so could be noisy, but the convenient location made up for this. Good value for money and excellent as a base for doing trips.
