Hotel Elephant Weimar, Autograph Collection

We stayed at the Elephant Hotel in Weimar for 5 nights in July, and it was a memorable experience. The location could not be more central—right on the market square, which made it easy to explore the city’s museums, cafés, and cultural landmarks all on foot. The hotel itself has an elegant, historic charm and offers a truly unique atmosphere that reflects Weimar’s long tradition of art, literature, and intellectual life.
The Elephant Hotel has a fascinating history. Originally established in the 16th century, it became an important gathering place for poets, artists, and thinkers. Cultural figures such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, and later Thomas Mann are all closely associated with the hotel. Over time, it developed a reputation not only as a place to stay, but as a hub of creativity and conversation. Following extensive renovations, it now blends its storied past with modern comfort, while still preserving its distinctive character.
Although the breakfast buffet was extremely expensive, the overall stay was wonderful. The combination of history, atmosphere, and unbeatable location made our time in Weimar special, and we would recommend the Elephant Hotel to anyone wanting an authentic and memorable base in this beautiful city.

The room was a little small, but that makes sense because it is an old building. The service was great, especially for someone who doesn't speak German. There was a Christmas fair right across the street, which was so fun, and there were so many options for great food within walking distance. Also, there was super easy parking as well.

We stayed for 3 nights and it is a good hotel in a good location. We had planned to stay at a different hotel in Weimar but left after finding the room had bugs. The Elefant was slightly more expensive but the jr suite was very comfortable. The bed was very comfy and they have foam cervical pillows that were great for us. Er slept well. Breakfast was good with many choices, decent coffee and fresh orange juice. You could have made to order eggs as well. The front desk staff — some were good, some seemed like they couldn’t be bothered. The hotel location is great easy enough to drive or take public transport. We enjoyed our stay in Weimar and would recommend the Elefant above the other hotels. Restaurant staff for breakfast was friendly and always seem available to help Thank you. You made our trip to Weimar work well for us when it could have been a disaster. Ok.

Fantastic location right on the main town square and next to Bach's former residence. Rooms are wonderful, staff is very accomodating. Restaurant was very good and the overall experienced was all very high quality. Needless to say, a hotel with a great deal of history as well definitely worth staying in!

The hotel is much larger than it appears from the entrance and the public areas are nicely decorated and maintained. Drink prices in the bar are reasonable and breakfast choices are very good but expensive. Our superior room was large and furnished in keeping with the hotel and nearby Bauhaus principles. The town itself is spotless and a wonderful place to spend a couple of days.

The location of the hotel is very convenient to visit the old town of Wiemar. I was in town for two days for work and had a great stay. The room is large and comfortable. The coffee maker was very nice and made good coffee, it was restocked during room cleaning. The only downside is that the parking lot is a bit small for the hotel. On the second night when I returned to the hotel after dinner, the lot was full and I had to park in a public garage about 7 minutes walk away even though I had paid for parking at the hotel. I did not try to restaurant.

Excellent location beautiful hotel building and staff very friendly. The food was alao very good. The price quality ratio is excellwnt. A hotel that makes you feel welcome… like old times. A gemof of a hotel in a gem of a little city… a must visit.

This house truely can be your home from home or your hime for your visit to Weimar — the property oozes history, yet boast modern renovated and well appointed rooms across a wide range of price segments. The centre point of the property is the light hall (inside) and the splendid garden out the back. The comfort of the house is well complimented by excellent and caring staff throughout. Finally, the creative chef de cuisine and his crew in the kitchen, are creating culinary creations that the well trained and charming restaurant crew will bring to your table, when dining at restaurant AnnA — inside or on tge terrace.

Central in the city of Weimar. Belonging to Arabella hotels in Munich. Good managed property and accommodating people. Rooms are ok. Good sightseeing possibilities. No hotel parking available, but in the street. Nice also for Christmas Market.

Cool hotel, love the design. Location is perfect. Only minus is service. The front desk was unwelcoming so was the staff at the breakfast restaurant. I don’t have high expectations for service in Germany but the staff at this hotel was especially sleepy and unwelcoming compared to other Marriott hotels I’ve stayed in Germany so far.

We stopped over in Weimar as part of a 16 day European tour. I had wanted to stay at the Elephant for some time, so was looking forward to it very much!
Check in was a disappointment though. The receptionist was a bit cold and seemed like she was due to finish her shift and we were keeping her back. We had driven a long way from Auxerre in France to get there so really needed a shower. We then discovered the shower drain was blocked and the water overspilled onto the floor. We went back down to let the same receptionist know about the issue. She offered us additional towels for the floor. Seriously? We politely declined and went to dinner.
Fortunately, this was the only negative experience we had here. The hotel was absolutely wonderful. Lavishly lined in gorgeous marble and sumptuous fittings, this is one of the best hotels I have visited.
We visited the restaurant very late due to travelling, but were still welcomed in. The food was outstanding, but we really must mention our waiter Moritz. This is exactly how to be a waiter! His service and attention was second to none. Hotel Elephant, please look after Moritz. Good staff like this are hard to find!
Great hotel, one of the best, and we hope to visit again!

This hotel is really somewhere special. From the minute we arrived to leaving we experienced extremely professional, friendly service. The lovely young lady at reception, the smiling, friendly bar man and the lady at breakfast were especially kind and helpful. I wish I had taken note of their names.
The hotel itself is really beautiful, wonderfully maintained, and located on scenic Marktplatz in the heart of Weimar. Our brief visit was so memorable and we can't wait to return some day. Ill firever remember a wonderful breakfast on their outdoor terrace! Treat yourselves and stay there.
