The hotel is very well located near the main train station. Bus services are nearby. Breakfast very good. Staff very friendly and accommodating. On the next visit to Hamburg we will live there again.

The room was way too small and it was very noisy because it was right on the road and was a construction site in front of it. At the reception there was usually only one person and there were very long queues. The cleanliness leaves much to be desired, especially in the bathroom.

Price and location are good! Cleanliness leaves room for improvement. But overall still fine for the price. Breakfast was with a lot of choice also very fine.

We booked the room by phone. On the phone we were told that the Hostel and the room is handicapped accessible. As a wheelchair user, the Hostel seemed to be accessible via a side entrance via a lift. This lift did not work. My wife carried my wheelchair up the steps at the entrance. This did not interest the employees in any way. Our room was easily accessible via an elevator. There was a sign on the elevator that said that the elevator was shut down for maintenance. Thank God the Elevator worked anyway. The room was all right. The TV only worked with strong image and sound interference. The Bar was also fine. The Cocktails were not good in our opinion. I have seen that ready-made Cocktails are served from the can. Breakfast was the best thing about the stay. At Checkin we got a note on which you should tick what you want to eat. This note was obsolete because there was a Buffet. No special attention was paid to the obligation to wear masks. Some guests and even staff members walked calmly through the Lobby without a mask. This could be very dangerous for me as a risk patient. In such a difficult time I still wanted to go on holiday with my wife and then something like that.

The rooms are dirty, on complaint new rooms were offered. Viewed with staff 5 rooms. All dirty… Zimmer was then tried to clean what was barely noticeable. Hygiene measures in Corona times leave much to be desired. Staff at the reception sometimes very naughty and without any protective measures! A cancellation of our booking in December due to the current experience has been refused or no refund or. Voucher. The hostel would have to be closed by the health board because of the defects. Allegedly too few staff to clean. And this at the expense of hygiene. In other A&O hostels everything was top and only recommended.

We ourselves have no claim, clean it should be, toilet on room, that's it. It should only be for sleeping. We had booked two rooms, one was completely inhabited, i. E. Full garbage bins, hair everywhere etc. In times of Corona hui… No excuse for the recitation, but fortunately a new room. Friendly is different… Also at breakfast, a lady to serve, the snake became more smiling and longer… Disaster. So, if someone has no claims, they should screw them down again. Bed linen in a 4-bed room was only available for 2 beds, additional garnishes at an extra cost.

I don't recommand. The room wasn't cleaned. I reguested other room and the second room had the bath very dirty… There was vomit in the coridor!

Well, if you're looking cheap, you're probably right here. It is not recommended for everyone else. Greed is not horny! A&O will understand that too!

We were there for the 2nd time, had not booked breakfast. For the 4 nights cleanliness, service/staff were fine and friendly.
The only minus point: the location is very central BUT the main roads around the hostel rob you of sleep!

You always get what you pay for. This place is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful. I had a bunk in with 5 other people, they were all nice chilled people, slept well, beds are clean, bathrooms too. Breakfast is a bargain at 7 euro It's a hostel so it's a lottery who you get thrown in with.

Comfortable hostel. Rooms are a bit small but they are neat and clean. Great location, only 10 minutes from the station. The breakfast buffet is worth the price and a great start to the morning. Would definitely recommend if in Hamburg.

We had pre-booked a room for three of us and by the time we arrived it had already been allocated elsewhere. They gave us a cheaper room, which is no different. Still very unfavorable. Would have liked to see the other room. The mattresses are quite hard as well. Otherwise it is very nice. The reception is very nice and helpful.

The game is cacamo. Family room with dirty windows, perfume and endless noise from the window. Expensive and not cozy. Hostels are usually free of tea and entertainment, but you have to pay for everything. It is better to rent an apartment for this money.

Rooms are good, but the service is really bad. The first time we arrived they charged me a room which was already paid for online. Now I still need to get my money back as they couldn't do this themselves but this needs to be done via A&O Berlin. Second time on our way back from holiday, there was told that we could park at the parking place for free as we would leave early the next morning (normally it would cost 10 euro per day). The next day a woman (the manager) demanded 10 euros and had blocked our car with her car. After a heated discussion and she not listening to what we had to say, she moved her car. One of her employees was wrong and therefore demanding it like this was totally wrong from her side.

Losing our booking, making us pay double, no bedsheets and towels in the room, blocking our car, telling us the parking is free and charging us anyways when we want to leave. The boss is not friendly and did not want to help at all. Worst hotel we have ever stayed.

Rooms are simple and clean. Bed sheets and towels are all clean. You are getting enough towels and a clean bathroom as well as a seperate shower in the same room. Food is available in the morning mid day and evening. You have to pay extra for that.

The location of a & o in Hamburg is good. Therefore recommended for city trips.
Comfort, however, should not be expected.
However, it is certainly not more than a youth hostel without room cleaning during the whole stay. Breakfast can be saved. For a few euros more lying around worlds better!

A hotel for young people in particular who want to spend little money on a trip to Hamburg. Especially as a group you can get discounted tariffs, which are really good by Hamburg standards. The quality of the rooms is sufficient more, but neither is it. The hotel is a maximum of a 10-minute walk from the train station. So you can reach all the essentials of Hamburg from here. A view of something special is not available in the hotel also it is located directly on a busy road.

Please read! I think the employees are really struggling to keep this hotel running here. But this hotel is absolutely not worth its price. There are brown spots on the walls, stains on the sheets and on the carpets, the food is very disgusting and the beds are screwed together of old metal. I highly recommend investing a little more money in the holiday and looking for a serious hotel. Thanks for reading.

The room was clean and the breakfast was good. Breakfast is poor.

We are group from Ukraine (of 37 persons) were organizing educational trip for students and booked rooms in a&o Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (Amsinckstr. 2-10 20097, Hamburg, Deutschland) on April 23-24, 2018 anticipatorily, order number HH2-2-224032. We reserved 1 single, 6 quadruple and 2 six-persons rooms and were assured that we would be satisfied with accommodations and stay in hostel. Tired and exhausted by long way, we would like just to relax. But disappointment waited for us: upon arrival we couldn’t check-in as receptionist claimed that there no such order and offered that 12 pesrons stayed in 3 rooms. We were shocked by such coldness, negligent attitude and bad service of personnel. After hour of long explanations and clarifications and upon finally coming of senior, we were accommodated in our reserved rooms. Our good mood from anticipation of unforgettable trip was blemished and destroyed. So, we ask administration to pay attention to work of your employees, as their irresponsibility and bad performance of duties influence reputation of your hostel negatively. Lots of luck!

We stayed there for a spa holiday as a pope and booked 2 beds. Then we got a really small room with two single beds that you couldn't push together. Short down to the reception, problem described and immediately get a new, bigger room.
Otherwise we had fresh towels every day and the bed was always made.
Breakfast was fine, even if sometimes very full and therefore long wait for refilling buns or, even more annoying, knives and plates.

Remembering that it is a hostel, the service is great, especially considering the location and the cost (with a little advance you can take beds at 18 euros per night)! Breakfast buffet.

Was already the second time here, price performance by the A&O Hostel coupon absolutely OK! Room included a simple décor but were very clean and otherwise full OK. If you only need an overnight stay and would like to be outside or In the city and some noise (very noisy and loud doors) does not bother, is right here!

It's exactly what you would expect from a hostel: average rooms, average service, average location. The traffic noise can be quite annoying, just like the not functioning lift which is really needed if you have more than 3 floors. Although it's mostly average, it could be a bit cleaner and better organised, the guests has to handle most of the things themselves.

Clean with ok rooms. Nice People working there. BUT Noisy because of schoolclasses visiting. Noise from the road. Not a place for a relaxing stayover. Will try something else next time.

The beds were fertile. Had 5 days back pain. The room was not cleaned during the entire stay. We had to get fresh towels at the reception. The breakfast was OK and the staff mostly friendly.

A nice dog friendly hostel. It was cheap, for my dog only 5£ more. The room was a bit cold, they serve drinks and pizza until late night. Helpful staff who fixed us an veterinary appointment :)

A little bit dirty and noisy. Just for young people and for a couple nights. You can hear between the walls sometimes and the elevators are small and take long time. No easy acces for parking, but you could find something within 5 minutes. Not a hotel to go with your family. Specifically with friends for maximum 3 days.

The staff was super nice and welcoming. Thank you. The hardware, however, has already been pretty much in the years. Rooms, beds, bathroom, hallways, breakfast room could use a thorough refurbishment. For the price and short time the stay was quite ok.

We often stay in the A&O throughout Germany and we are aware that it is only practical and not luxurious overnight stays. However, cleanliness is top priority! As the name suggests, the hostel is not a 5 star hotel. It is perfectly decorated and clean. We stayed for two nights in this lot and it was absolutely suitable for that. Only the pillows were very hard and thin. Next time I would just bring my own. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a simple hotel near the city centre.

Clean and tidy budget accommodation. We had family rooms, double bed and 2 bunks. On suite shower and separate toilet. Close (10 min walk) to Hamburg central railway station. Limited on street parking available.

Nette Begrüßung an der Rezeption. Zimmer sauber, aber nicht vollständig mit Bettwäsche bezogen. Wurde aber schnell in Ordnung gebracht. Ausserdem war ein Licht defekt. Reklamiert. Mal sehen ob es heute Abend erledigt ist Frühstück ausreichend. Alles in allem ein günstiges und gutes (mit wenig Komfort) hotel.

I'm not totally disgusted with the hostel, but either to say I liked it. We were looking for a place near the center and cheap for our trip to Hamburg, and in this sense fulfilled its functions. But the place is very little care, the staff also has the most sympathy and also tried to pagásemos more for the room to not get there another person (we were 3 in a 4 bed room) when they knew perfectly that they had no reservation (I understand that this may be normal as each business is looking for its benefit, but the detail did not like it, as we opted not to pay and were still alone).

Really good! My first "hostel — experience", when one (s) /woman to it is really an alternative! It was clean and well organized. The reception is manned 24 hours a day. Breakfast was also without blame, as I already ate in 4 * houses just as well. The parking lot (next to the house) I had booked again explicitly via mail.

Not the friendliest staff, at least not in the evening when I checked in. Just handed me a pamphlet and didn't tell me where the elevators were or anything. My view was great. Room was warm. Good place just to sleep. Hard to find the bus that gets you here because of the construction but much easier to get back to central station. Might stay here again. My outlet didn't work very well either.

Not satisfied in so many levels. I have been to also other A&O hostels but this one was very disappointing. Stuffs are not fast with the check in. My mate had no pillow and had to go to the reception for one. However they only gave him another blanket because they were out of pillows. Sockets are placed in very awkward position. And the mattress are not comfortable. Forget the elevator. It looks like something from 2nd world war. Not recommending to anyone.

I stayed there one night. But unfortunately I didn't get the pillow. Then they gave me another blanket. It was ok. But when I heard that I need to bring all my stuffs down which I got, I didn't like it. It is different from other hostel. But I got breakfast which was good.

The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and the room was clean and had almost everything you could need. Unfortunately I could not find any sockets in the room. So I had to charge my phone in the bathroom. What went on even though the light was on.
Furthermore, the curtain on the windows was too short, both in length and width. The room was so bright all night, which made me and my girlfriend — who also slept in the room — personally very upset at falling asleep.

We stayed in a six bed room staying as guests as part of a trip to Hamburg for a stag do. Our room was very large, plenty of room. The beds are ok, not the comfiest but it is to be expected at this price. They have a bar downstairs, pool table and foosball table. The bar staff are really friendly, speak very good English and the drinks prices are very reasonable (€2.50 for a bottle of beer, €3.50 for a stein). The hostel/hotel is placed a 10 min walk away from the train station and is a €20-30 taxi away from the Repeerbahn. A&O was great for our trip and would definitely recommend.

The value for the location was really great, 10-15 walk to the Central Station. The rooms were ok, not many power outlets in ours and the bathroom was quite small as well. Rooms were pretty hot as well and windows didn't open much. Definitely an outdated building but I would consider staying there again if my travels bring me back to Hamburg.

I checked Ibis & Holiday Inn which for those on a budget offers budget hotel offering for budget hotel prices. Go there instead. I would rate this place 3 stars if I paid half the price and wanted a hostel. — You can hear every car that drives past. -The curtains doesn't even cover the entire window. -The Tv is like a small laptop screen.

I have 23 08. Up to 29 08 15 6 nights in a a multi bed room of the A & O Hostel Hamburg Hauptbahnhof booked. This breakfast at the front desk for each of the 6 days was billed twice me, even though I was alone. It is noticed later on the Bill, but fortunately in time. I'm extra went back to the hostel and have reported it, whereupon the amount on the EC card be should returned me. No money is received for over a week. So I drove back extra in the hostel and have again complained. I was offered prompt, easy to book the money that was supposedly made on the credit card. After several days of no money input again appeared on the credit card. So I went for the third time because of the open amount to the hostel, where I had to complain have volume and threaten consequences. This time, suddenly on the next day on my account, my money has been registered.
I had to go Besides my breakfast for 6 nights was billed twice, 3 times to the hostel to get my money. In addition to all of the trouble I had, I wonder how a tourist would have done, which now had to be random professionally in the vicinity as I not lucky enough.

Basic. Have to put your own sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover on. Shower door broken. Wifi good.

We were early June 2016 as a study trip at the hotel into the amsinckstraße. The pictures looked ok but when we were there we all fell into a schockstrarre. We had a six-person rooms on the second floor. All floor beds (If yes ok), which were however "corroded". The paint was missing some total. Sleep was on "gymnastics mats" that we had to take with stained sheets. The pad had huge pale yellow to dark yellow spots. On the ground, the boards broke away (one was already just before) of the wall, including verbag itself the first mold. Toilet and shower were separated (which is also the only thing that's worth a star). But in the shower was also all full of mold. The breakfast was eaten then by plates which were either scratched or not clean. A total let the buffet all desired. I could eat in the morning only a dry bun due to my allergies. We survived it all, but I will never again come.

The location is okay. The nearest train station "Steinstrasse" leads to the main station or Jungfernstieg, so to actually everywhere well go from there.
The hotel itself is very been neglected, it is reasonably neat but not really clean. Even though we had a double room a bunk bed was also in the room, unfortunately so stupid you have just a few centimetres square in between. Because of the bunk bed you get up also unfortunately quite the large window.
It is very noisy (multi-lane road, rail, many guests) but is for the most part but rather the poor insulation in the building.
We were on the 7th floor and the lifts were all catastrophic. Maximum of 3 people, while a was and mumble in a cabin was driving the Panel from the wall. But the highlight was that lift when 5 people was overloaded, closed its doors and they only went because we have pushed it up.

Great Hostel! Not too far from downtown. The breakfast was very crowded, but with a good variety. Also there was fresh baked rolls at breakfast.

Have our final trip here spent at this hostel. Heraklion has not tasted. Room dirty. Our wa much too small for a 6 bed rooms. For me it has deserved a two star. What I liked was the friendliness of the staff. But otherwise it must improve significantly.

Good quality for the price — cheap accommodation in great reach of Main station, harbour and Speicherstadt. Good breakfast. Building seemed to be a bit out of it's days. Nice and professional staff.

The hotel was good in the price in my opinion ratio. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was very tasty. However, 2 Windows in my room had no handles, and the bunk bed was very wobbly and uncomfortable.

Price agreed. The room was clean and tidy, the equipment was completely fine. It was all because what it takes. The staff was friendly and the location was walking distance from the central station also okay, only 10 minutes.
Many of the other hotel guests were very noisy (school classes and drunk) and the rooms were unfortunately so poorly insulated that they so clearly heard everything on the course, as if you would stand even next to it. So woke up a few times in the night. But that most of the other guests were so anti-social, this hotel can not (unless they could improve the insulation).
Also, the wait at the front desk was quite long, because there is only one only employee was, who had to go to all the guests of the bar and at the same time also to the reception and the bar was relatively full.
Also, the bathroom smelled very intensively to chemistry. This smell not went away during the 2 days I was there. But the towels were good, in the A & O Cologne they had indeed something stunk.

The room itself was not the duvet on arrival clean, however. Generally, the hostel has a big problem regarding the cleaning. Plates, cutlery, glasses, etc. Are often extremely dirty. Also the hostel not special far from the city centre away, so you can go walking to the Speicherstadt, and downtown is quickly by underground.

Place is OK for 1 or 2 nights. You need to bring your own bed sheets and towel. The rooms and bathroom could improve the cleanliness and maintenance.

Comfortable room and friendly staff. A bit difficult to navigate there from the train station because of all the railroad tracks.

By 45, action-paid for a double room for 2 persons with breakfast per night and absolutely thrilled. I probably have never had a better price / performance ratio.
The room, bathroom was clean and tidy, breakfast for the price very good, staff friendly and optimally, you can walk very much the location for a city trip.
There are volume, situated right on big main street, what has disturbed us but it is hardly the only small minus point.

As I had booked there was a special price of 10 Euro 6-bed room. That's why I had spontaneously booked. Cheaper is hardly. Therefore super. At the front Desk are all super friendly. The cleanliness was upon arrival well, then, only the trash bins emptied. For a week, no Sweeping or Mopping. Was in a full room quickly disgusting. I am the train came. The car Parking is expensive and is also only a small Parking area. For the small cabinets you get a little lock. It is but received recommended everything of value take time at the reception include you never know, even with the Housekeeping — quote as you said it to me. It is a good and nice Hotel. The rooms are simply furnished but it is almost all there what you need for example a table, a chair, bedside table, and a device for the suspension of coats and shirts. A TV with several programs is on the wall there too. Luggage rack. The bathroom is indeed Small but there is everything there what you need such as A hair dryer and Zahnbutzbecher. Also a Duschvorläufer for the shower is Available. Toilet and sink anyway. The Breakfast for very little money is also acceptable although there are only aufgebackene rolls and Tostbrot but that's enough for me. There are several different cold meats and cheeses, fruit, cereals, boiled eggs, etc From the location it is good zuereichen. With the line 3 approximately every 10 Min from the railway station. In the vicinity is Real with a Laundry and a pharmacy and a hairdresser.

Never again! From the first moment in reception the employed did not even care to look up to greet us. He seemed annoyed to be there, he should defiantly consider a new line of work. We had to make the beds and there were no towels… Everywhere the hostel was run down and no one from staff offered a smile!
