Schloss Haigerloch in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

What is located near Schloss Haigerloch, and how are the local attractions situated?

The hotel is scenically situated on a hilltop overlooking a charming village with picturesque streets and houses. Nearby is an impressive Baroque church, which guests are recommended to visit. Walking and hiking trails run around the castle, offering breathtaking views of the valley and the Neckar River. To walk down to the village, one must navigate several flights of stairs, which will then have to be climbed back up.

Does the hotel have on-site parking?

Yes, parking spaces are available, and according to guests, there is ample parking.

How polite is the staff, and how are unusual situations handled?

The hotel staff is described as very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. In particular, guests highlight the manager's professionalism and the warmth of a staff member named Dagmar. In one instance involving a booking date error (August instead of July), the staff promptly resolved the issue: despite accommodating wedding guests, they provided the family with a room (even larger than the one booked) and arranged dinner.

What kind of breakfast does Schloss Haigerloch offer?

Opinions on breakfast are mixed. Some guests describe it as excellent, with a wide selection of traditional German dishes, noting the pleasant, tranquil atmosphere on the terrace along with good coffee. Others found the breakfast too basic, with insufficient variety, leading to disappointment.

What cuisine is featured in the on-site restaurants?

The castle features a restaurant serving delicious dishes and wines, with dinners on the garden terrace receiving particular praise. Guests note the high quality of food and service, though some consider the dinner prices to be high. However, conflicting information in reviews should be noted: some visitors claim that the restaurant has been closed since 2022 or is no longer operational.

What condition are the rooms in, and are the beds comfortable?

Guests describe the rooms as lovely, cozy, and spotless, featuring floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and beautiful views. Several guests note that the rooms have very comfortable beds, ensuring a great night's sleep. On the other hand, there are complaints about the post-renovation design, which struck some guests as overly modern or even kitschy, detracting from the authentic atmosphere of a historic castle.

How clean are the rooms, and how does the plumbing work?

Many guests praise the immaculate cleanliness of the rooms. However, serious plumbing issues have been reported: two separate guests reported a clogged shower drain that caused wastewater from other toilets in the building to back up into the shower cubicle, which was described as completely unacceptable.

What is the atmosphere like at the hotel?

Overall, the atmosphere is described as magical, peaceful, and romantic, making the property an ideal retreat from bustling cities. The castle is characterized as "small but exquisite" with a cozy courtyard. At the same time, some visitors noted a sense of emptiness and disappointment due to closed doors in certain areas of the property.
