frederics Berlin City Hackescher Markt

This was our first time in Berlin and so glad I chose this hotel. Check in and out so easy, great room with great facilities, very clean, really comfortable bed and breakfast was plentiful. Hackescher Markt is the best area to stay in Berlin in my opinion.

I loved this hotel. The rooms are nice and so is the lobby. During our stay we didn't speak to a single employee. You check in yourself. The hotel is also close to the tram.
But what I didn't like was that they had some kind of construction in the basement. And the construction men left the door to the hotel opened at all times. And when they went out for a smoke break right outside the door. The smell of cigarette smoke filled up the entire lobby.

The location is superb. Easy to travel from airport, to central station and museum island. Love the area, many cafes and shops.
The hotel is staff-less. Meaning no staff at the lobby. It was the first time we experience staff-less hotel, but we can get there seamlessly with guidance from email. Self-checkin and checkout.
Somehow there were always staff in the morning which able to ask for fresh towels.
The hotel just got renovated.
The room has good air-con system, good bathroom, good bed and good room size.
There are few steps inside the hotel from ground level to lift.

At no time during our stay was our room serviced. No new toilet paper, no fresh towels and the bed was not made. Obviously the breakfast was scaled down since we stayed at this hotel back in 2017. We will never return to this hotel. Sad experience!

The hotel operates on a self-service basis, and upon arrival, despite ringing the bell as indicated, no one opens the main door. You must call a provided phone number to gain entry. Additionally, there's no option to leave your belongings if you arrive early; you have to go to another hotel for that. The check-in process involves a board at the hotel, but the keys generated often don't work. Calling another hotel multiple times is necessary to resolve this, and you may wait 30 minutes for an employee to arrive with a master key. Cleaning times are unclear, and when requested, they may dismiss it for the next day even if you call at 11:00 am. Addressing complaints involves walking to another hotel, where staff disclaim responsibility and behave rudely. The team appears miscommunicated and unwilling to take accountability for their self-service hotel, leading to regrettable experiences for guests.

Stayed here recently for some nights during a business-related trip. The hotel is well located in Berlin Mitte, not far from the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station. That means it’s easy to get around. The room was fine, a bit dated and not very large but functional and within the expectations of such an establishment. Unfortunately, it can get noisy due to the trams in front of the hotel. The shower also leaked a bit and it was impossible to open the shower door fully due to the toilet being too close to the shower door. I really didn’t like the self-service check-in and general hands-off concept (e. G. No room cleaning! ). It just feels cheap and like cost cutting, rather than customer service, is the key priority, making one feel unwelcome. For a hotel of this standard, one should expect a manned reception at all times. Instead, we had to ring at the entrance door to be let in, something which reminds me of an Airbnb and not a hotel of a decent standard. The fact that they charge extra for room cleaning is outrageous. The breakfast wasn’t great either. It lacked choice. For example, there were no scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, pancakes or warm items in general. Everything was cold and after one day, the limited choice meant that it was really hard to get excited about the breakfast. Finally, the price is too high for the standard the hotel offers, even in a more expensive Berlin than a few years ago.

Stayed 3 nights. Good location to attractions, and transport.   Reception is, in bar area and there are no staff all computerised, doorbell to get into reception, then self service checkin. Good free Wi-Fi. Bedroom was clean and  comfortable size with TV. 1 comfortable 2 single bed together clean. Bathroom is ensuite and very clean with toiletries. No coffee making facilities  in room. Charges for room service and need to request fresh towel. Breakfast is continental with cereal, buns, cheese and meats, juice and coffee. 2 days of stay lift out of action and on 5th floor. Can leave bags for free at sister hotel 3mins walk. Would recommend and would stay again, especially  if visiting as only 1 minute walk up the road to train and plenty restaurants.

Perfect location for a week-end in Berlin.
We booked a Comfort room due to recommendations here on TripAdvisor. The room was nice and clean and had a quiet location.
But…. During the booking prosess on the hotels official website the hotel promise tea and coffee facilities in the room, which is important to us, and we were also promosed what they called «a breakfast snack included». The last thing looked like a kind of campaign.
As we checked in we were told that this was all wrong. There had never been coffee and tea facilities in Comfort Rooms, and the guy in the reception had never heard about «breakfast snack included». We even had to show him the website.
False marketing is very disappointing and we do hope the hotel will correct their website for the future.

Nice roof room. Dirty carpet. Easy check in. Front door to hotel broken. Otherwise such a lovely location and nice to be able to leave luggage at sister hotel around the corner. If you had charge for the tax with the normal room rate it would be a 5 star might stay again.

Unairconditioned so impossible with recent hot weather The single dorma window had to b kept open and this exposed us to the thunder storms.
This is a self service hotel which is ok for a casual 1-2 night stay but not longer and not for business. No laundry service but iron provided. Room clean and had to b arranged.
Clean and tidy and the few staff tried to b helpful.
