Sheraton Berlin Grand Hotel Esplanade

Upon check-in, the front desk requires a security deposit, which can amount to 350 euros. Some guests experience difficulties with its refund, noting delays of more than 24 hours after check-out. The situation is sometimes complicated by difficulties reaching the front office by phone. It is recommended to clarify the terms and timeframes for releasing the pre-authorized funds on bank cards in advance.

Guests' opinions on the quality of breakfast vary significantly. Some travelers describe the breakfast as superb, delicious, and varied. Other guests consider the selection extremely limited and the price unreasonably high. There have been instances of confusion with hot egg dish orders. The menu in the main restaurant is also characterized as quite modest and mediocre in taste.

The rooms offer generous space and beautiful panoramic views, although the lighting can sometimes seem dim. The overall condition of the rooms reflects the building's age and a need for a thorough renovation. Guests often point out worn carpeting, ceiling cracks, mold in the showers, and electrical safety issues. Room amenities also draw complaints due to the lack of bathrobes, kettles, and minibars, or malfunctioning coffee machines and televisions.

Soundproofing in the guest rooms leaves much to be desired. Everyday sounds and conversations from neighboring rooms can be heard clearly. Some guests find their rest disturbed by extraneous nighttime noises, including unexpected telephone signals. Light sleepers should take this factor into account before booking.

Currently, the spa area is closed to guests. The hotel management provides notice of this restriction during the booking process. Nevertheless, guests counting on wellness treatments and the swimming pool should check the operational status of the spa center in advance.

Impressions of interacting with the hotel staff are mixed. Some guests note the politeness, friendliness, and warm hospitality of the staff, as well as complimentary room upgrades. At the same time, many visitors point out noticeable staff overload and slow response times to requests. There are serious complaints regarding a reluctance to promptly address hygiene issues, indifference to verbal feedback, and abrupt responses from managers in the in-app chat.
