We come regularly to Ettal and of course only to the Blue Gams because the competition down at the monastery may have a magnificent hotel but no loving atmosphere.

Very friendly staff, very quiet. Absolutely to relax. Were very enthusiastic. The buffet and restaurant absolutely recommended. For the service and friendliness. 😊

The best location in town! Our room had a view towards the abbey and the town centre, which was really beautiful. Great food and fair-priced. Nice, friendly staff. Clean, large rooms. The only negative were; the beds, which were quite hard, the duvets, which were very firm and heavy and the pillows, which were very too large and "overly stuffed" for our taste. Also the balcony, which of course was beautiful, large and filled with fantastic bright coloured flowers, but unfortunately was not very private. If either of our neighbours were on their balcony, they were able to look straight into our room and see the bed as well. Of course people are polite and try to avoid doing so, but this made the curtains a necessity — even sometimes during the day, if you wanted to change outfits in privacy. Would definitely recommend, the location is fantastic and to hotel is very comfortable.

Under new management and greatly improved. Everything is friendly, clean, renovated. Will go there again with pleasure. Great food!

This hotel is an example how it looks if guests come by themselves and the owners don’t need to do anything. We stopped there for just one night. Interior from late 80’s (bathroom early 70s…). The first person who usually faces guests is one at the reception. The expression of the lady was rather bored. The room we got was very noisy due to a fan (from kitchen? ) and due to thin walls and floor. We had to listen to our Japanese neighbours talking till late night. Not enough toilet paper in room. When we ran out of it, nobody was available at reception. By chance I found some in the cupboard at hall. The food was not bad but nothing excellent you would remember and what makes you to stop in the future again. And one more small remark. Picture on the wall was some photo of Toronto, or Montreal. Me, having hotel in Alps, would hang on the wall some photos of a beautiful scenery from the Alps. There are many ways how to make this place more interesting. And it won’t cost big money. Let’s start with nice smile… it’s free.

This review is for the hotel restaurant. An extremely quaint restaurant with Alp Mountain charm. Rustic beams and decor suited to the region including the common central heating hearth. While on our visit in Germany, this was the the meal we enjoyed the most. The main room is fairly small, however this adds to the atmosphere. Service was extremely friendly and professional. We ate several different meals and all were exceptional. If you are staying in the region it is not to be missed. Prosit.

A dreamlike welcome, with absolutely great rooms. Typical Bayern. The hotel offers everything for a longer stay. Whether a Finnish sauna with well-kept outdoor facilities, a rich breakfast buffet with nothing missing. The staff work perfectly tuned and the rooms are very well maintained. We did not like the accommodation in the inn, we then rebooked the hotel. Then everything was okay.

Overnight stays in the inn should only be used as a stopover, you will not sleep very comfortably. The dinner was missing a bit of salt and pepper. For one night okay.

Very beautiful view of Ettal and the monastery. Good kitchen and great sauna. In the attached to the Hotel Gasthoffe the setting, in comparison with the main building, is somewhat old and shabby, but not very critical.

Brilliant views, charming atmosphere, appealing saunas.
Unfortunately no bar for baggers, there are also no real 3-bed rooms.

The enthusiasm wellness can mislead here, there is NO pool, so the whole is a sauna area with relaxation space/outdoor terrace (very nicely furnished in newfangled). Free parking in front of the house and a free abee priceless view over the whole Ettal including monastery give a strong plus.

The food at the in-house restaurant was crowned by the brilliant service, top quality and healthy cuisine.
The location is fantastic, the view from the rooms directly to the monastery.
There are parking spaces and Wi-Fi available.
The peculiarity is also the grander water (lively water) that comes directly from the pipe.

"Tyrolean" style Hotel with lots of wood and typical mountain choices (single beds). Nice staff and very nice environment.
The room we had included three single beds and a small bathroom with plastic walls: the latter particular, although understandable for the convenience of the hotel, Mal marries with the context.

Beautiful, affordable (€39; 2 pers. ; Incl. Breakfast) hotel with panoramic views of Ettal Abbey and the monastery. To do this there is a rustic furnished breakfast room and a rest restaurant.

Unfortunately, we had a room above the kitchen. Everything smelled like French fries grease, curtains pillows etc. Room was so unbearable. Breakfast plentiful and good. User friendly.

Both the Ermpfang as well as of the stay were impeccable. Everything was well-organized and the cleanliness in the rooms left no wishes unfulfilled.

My friends and I came here hoping to get a late night dinner, it was a Friday night and when we pulled up to the hotel there were a lot of people eating, being served drinks ect. We picked a seat and got our menus. After about 5 minutes we were asked what we wanted to drink. After we ordered we all had decided on what we wanted to eat. It was about 9:35pm at this time. The waitress was extremely rude. She continued to walk by our table acting busy to stall and not take our order. We waited until 10:15pm and she blatantly ignored my husband as he loudly said "excuse me ma'am" as she walked by. She would not come take our order and no one came by to check on us. We did not get food because she stalled well over 45 minutes for the kitchen to close. We were given a big attitude when we asked for the check. I was disappointed as the environment was so deceiving of what kind of service is offered.

Accommodation in the guest house. Part of dilapidated rooms with very small bathrooms (plastic cell). In case of problems, no apology, or against the employees. Only operation Edeltraud is on zack.

A fantastic short break of 4 days in mid-may in the Blue Gams in Ettal. Very nice staff, good food and very clean rooms with a great view of the valley and the monastery. Good starting point for many tours of all kinds and of all degrees of difficulty. In case of bad weather we can make the delicious pancakes and the new sauna area to relax recommend. For us, definitely a reason to come back, especially since the dogs in this house are warmly welcomed.

The Wi-Fi is available in public areas only in theory, but in fact there is only in the lobby and is not powerful enough to allow the use of web services.
The restaurant has a "typical" cute, but overly dark.
The dessert menu is written very badly: are some dessert with fancy names for which there is no description. I tried to get one and I found myself a glass with half a liter of fanta on which floated a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Unfortunately the wait staff doesn't speak English so it isn't able to ovens information.
Breakfast only salty is quite poor.
The bed that I came across was breached.
Among the few positive notes the location and cleanliness of the room and the bathroom.

Very nice located, Frühstücksbüffett very rich, staff friendly to the guests, but argue in front of the guests, had the only room without a TV, but it is a nice way to exchange can, toothbrush holders used, dust is not wiped, particularly to recommend is the castle Linderhof and the Abbey of Ettal to visit in Oberammergau, Germany, there is a nice indoor swimming pool.

The small mountain village of Ettal was very nice. The hotel setting was also very picturesque and cozy. The hotel was nice and there was a lot of detail in the decor. We were there from Nov 26 — Nov 29, unfortunately there was no snow there yet so the vacation season didn't seem to be in full effect. I think this cause a lack in service at the hotel. Friday night the hotel restaurant was not open which really surprised us. The breakfast buffet was served every morning which was very good. It was a traditional German breakfast with brochen, jellies, soft boiled eggs, deli meats, cheeses, cereal, and fresh fruit. The rooms were also typical, small beds with individual mattresses and blankets, no sheets like American beds but one thick comforter. The shower had something to be desired, the shower head was broken and sprayed a jet of water out at an odd angle and the head had to propped up just right to not spray on the wall. But the water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. Also don't expect to shower with anyone since there was barely room enough for one. All in all the hotel was good but could use a little maintenance.
