Hostel Vertigo Vieux-Port Hostel

By far the best hostel I stayed in. The staff is really friendly and helpful, even going out of there way to make you feel welcome. They have 2 well equipped kitchen were you can easily cook your meals and big dining and leaving rooms were you can share your meals and good conversations with other travelers which by my expirience are top notch! They also have a really cool design and decoration were art is present everywhere (really loved the paintings specially the "mechanical ballerina" which is painted in an old projector). The location is perfect, being right in the center of the town, with shops, buses and metro 2 steps away. All of it makes the atmosphere amazing and you will feel better than at your own home!

5 Stars! I had a wonderful stay in both the old and new Vertigo in October 2018. It's very clean and comfortable. The new woodwork is really impressive in the hostel rooms. The staff were exceptionally nice and the manager is lovely too which really shines through the whole place. I felt so comfortable there and will definitely be back in 2019!

Best hostel in marsielle super spacious and hospital large space to relax, would recommend to anyone on a budget perfect location close to eveythiny.

Love the location of this hostel, near the Port, in a lovely little block. A little bit of a walk to the Metro, but the busses are close. Staff here was great, breakfast was OK, and the dorms are quite large, super clean, and very quiet. I would definitely recommend.

At first the positive aspects: There is a great bakery just around the corner and a kiosk with friendly staff just a few meters away. The rooms are quite spacious compared to other hostels and the breakfast is for free (although it would be a crime to take money for it). If you're planning to stay here in summer, however, be advised that the rooms are quite hot. Moreover, the absence of any soap in the bathroom is bewildering, the common room makes you want to stay no longer than three minutes due to bad air, a general lack of cosiness and a refrigerator which is so overstuffed it makes you want to cry (or buy them a much needed second one). In contrast to other guests' experiences, we did not see the staff's behaviour as particularly friendly or professional (the process of entering the hostel should not be handled as a security check in the airport).

So glad we deciced to stay at this hostel while in Marseille! It was the best choice, really one of the most Beautiful and relaxed hostels I have been so far! And awesome People to meet there! would recommend! xxx.

Fantastic rooms, breakfast included and friendly staff. Neighbours are the problem though, one is throwing water from his window on backpackers and the other is insulting people. I addressed these problems to the owner but he didn't really. Care.

My mate and I planned on staying one night… aaand every day we requested another night. This place is magical, like a second home. We will be in Marseille again in no time and will 110% stay here again.

One of the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The room and bathroom are so clean. The staff are phenomenal and very helpful! I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone!

I stayed two days. Excellent staff. Everything was clean. Nice people staying there. Well located in term of visiting as turism but the location was not the best… But it could easy be so much worse. There are details they can improve, but a great choice to stay in Marseille.

Nice reception. First room not upto scratch other occupiers not very pleasant. Asked for a change They done it straight away the head guy is more on the ball. So any problems bypass the reception. Ask for the main guy Gave me a up grad if that was possible in a hostel.

Very cozy hostel. Friendly staff, fast Internet. Free breakfast. There is a kitchen, a washing machine and a drying machine.

Very nice hôtel, renewed in an ancient marine craft. Nice people working there, from desk to directors. But a roomate stolled me a colllector Olympique de Marseille jersey, here, this robbery ranked as a crime… answer from the desk person, working on wednesday night: first cut me in my phrase explaining fairly the issue, give a 10' check in for a person who was waiting after me, ostensibely don't listen with dedain at my explanation, and answered me: go and solve that yourself with your roomates… No concerned at all by a robbery issue in the hôtel he survey… and on top of that very irrespectuous… this weird guy will not have a long future in any job involving public relation. And at first in the afternoon, for the first time I saw him, very impolite, without any reason. Ah yes, he' s the kind of minette spending 2 hours in the bathroom to tune his cute baby face. Perhaps his job is a pretext for smiling to young girls. I was not on his target. Ouf…!

My first hostel stay — went better than expected! Staff is helpful, rooms and bathroom/shower facilities were clean (although the rooms did get quite warm at night), and there was a free little breakfast in the morning (mostly consisting of baguettes or cereal and coffee but it was appreciated). Fantastic central location steps away from Vieux Port. Would definitely stay here again.

Good hostel, prices are not excessive, breakfast included, we take what we want. I recommend it if you come to Marseille and you like to meet this is the ideal place.

This hostel was the perfect location. Had heard rumours about the unsafe nature of the city (which we felt had been over exaggerated, especially as we were two young girls alone), out of the three hostels we stayed in over our travels here this was the safest location as well as convenient for the small beach, Notre Dam and port. Very welcoming and helpful staff and lovely to have a free breakfast. The rooms were big and clean. This hostel had had work being done it while we stayed which did not turn out to cause any trouble. Some travellers we met were unhappy about the cleanliness of the bathrooms however this was not an issue to us.

Nice hostel with great free breakfast of fresh bread, cereals, and jam. Friendly staff, free luggage storage, great location. Bathrooms are connected to the rooms. Only downside was that my room was a little dusty and the shower water pressure was low. Would highly recommend.

Very good location Generally quite a decent hostel, inludes breakfast, rooms well equipped with individual lights, sockets etc.

Very close to the metro and the bars. The pieces are spacious but have no curtains. The large bathrooms and inside each piece so they are very personal.

The hostel was very clean, the Wi-Fi was great and the staff were super friendly. I didn't get to choose if I wanted to be in a mixed dorm or female only dorm and that was uncomfortable but I had no problems.

Good rooms, 6 beds have two bathroom in and are spacious. It’s really clean, specially the guest kitchen. Quiet in nights and located next to port, supermarket and shops. Breakfast it’s free but isn’t good at all.

Great room, met great people, okay bed and etc. Had a bit of a problem with one of the staff members, who seemed unwilling to help and almost caused me and my friend to miss our train (but he was an exception and the other staff members seemed very nice and helpful).

It was nice… They are just beginning, so they still has not lockers, but I know they will be better, and I had a nice sleep for a cheap price. Also it is in the middle of the city, so it has a perfect location and an elevator in case you luggage is too heavy.

A great cheap accommodation in the heart of the city, very close to the old port, with a very nice welcome and a cool kitchen to prepare breakfast and meals; the best in Marseille!

Perfect location. The reception is 24 hours and the deal is impeccable. The perfect place to rest and meet people from all over the world. I'll repeat when I get back.

Good value for money, the only downside I found is the staff not quite available.
After the rooms are well kept and have it feel really serene. Perfect for your romantic and simple weekend in the city center, just a few steps from the old port and many bars and restaurants, and trade of which Lidl not even 150m places or have can easily make meetings, (do not worry the language barrier this fter SSE, )

I found this little hotel by chance. But I'm too glad to find it because according to the price the service is really good. I paid 25 euros for one night in a four-person room. They have free Wi-Fi and unlimited. They also have a very large kitchen where you can cook and heat a tea or coffee. In the mornings, they serve breakfast but until 10:00. The personal is very friendly and understanding. Renting is the best.

As my first experience in a hostel, I just love it and definitely gonna try it again. I loved me most that I was able to get to know people, my roommates, have a chat while having dinner, to share experiences… Damn good. About facilities, they were good, my bed was comfortable, place your mind this is a hostel lol but rooms are fine and you can rest properly.

A little bit expensive for what they offer but nice attention and great place near of the viex port.

Good reception. Sympeta atmosphere. Ideal location for Marseille. Vx Port Mucem. Fort St. John. Shops of centre and new galleries to the beautiful and great port atmosphere if you like C is the… foot Hotel. Single room but all comfort. No luxury superficial inutil it is well neighborhood set in values terraces of the harbor…

Spent two weeks here. Just super!

The environment is clean, free Wi-Fi, two kitchen, counter staff is very friendly (if you need Free City tour can be asked again), a free breakfast, dinner plate to wash themselves. The dining area in the kitchen is a good saloon, but there is no elevator to carry your baggage. Lidl supermarket is on the downhill corner, very convenient! There are also many Chinese restaurants near the old harbour.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in during my trip in France. The staff is extremely friendly and the inner courtyard is a great place to mingle and meet people from all around. If you need to be close to the train station and don't mind the dodgy district the hostel is located in I highly recommend it.

Perfect location in the centrum of the city. Nice rooms but below avarege standaard beds. Marseille is a wonderful city and hostel vertigo is a good place tot drop your bags and explore the city.

Wish the A. C. Was a bit stronger but the night air wasn't too bad in July. Otherwise, a nice hostel with plenty of space. Quiet vibe and it doesn't seem to be a hostel people go to to be very social.

Good location as it was close to the pier. The room was spacious and has everything that was needed for the stay. There was someone at reception 24/7.

Good hostel with a very nicely decorated common area. Room's interior is nice, but the beds are not very special and don't really fit in the interior. However, the rooms are very clean and spacious.

The neighbor is a club. Impossible to sleep. The roaches are nombbreux already at the reception. But him lunch is understood ;) I've seen worse, but not worth what we him bragging.

I spent a very good time at the Vertigo hostel is a really cool property located in the city centre of Marseille furniture design year 50, the functional kitchen, the Wi-Fi works very well, the room has a nice bathroom, there are comfortable lounges with TV, many paintings by artists on the walls, the staff is really very friendly and the booking system efficient Nothing to say the concept has really been thought out.

Fantastic and characterful hostel in a great location near the historic port of Marseille. Lovely old building features combined with a modern twist. Nice communal lounge and dining area where it's great to socialise and meet new people, plus a handy shared kitchen for cooking if you like to do some of your own cooking. Staff were helpful and friendly and location is ideal for exploring the old centre of Marseille.

Stayed with a group of 15 riders in the framework of the Marseille marathon at this hotel, ideally located, cleanliness, friendliness, close to the old port, first experience in this type of facility, we recommend it.

Excellent reception, common room worthy of a three star, spacious room, toilet and shower separate super clean. Surprisingly in this category d property, in France at least, the benefits.

They let me put my bicycle in the dorm which was very kind/cool of the staff. This place has a great lounge area, which gives the hostel a very social atmosphere. Location also excellent.

The person of hotel its really headache.

The staff were great, the rooms are huge and clean, there is decent Wi-Fi and the staff even offered to put breakfast out for us at 5am the day we had an early departure. Very nice of them.
