Motorcyclists (or cyclists) stop here, we were able to leave our bikes and bags to go and visit the city quietly, for a price defying all competition. No hesitation that's where you have to ask yourself. For the rest we didn't stay there but received the best welcome possible.

A very good welcome. Staff with care. Breakfasts are simple but plentiful. A good address in Carcassonne.

My name is Barry Donovan and I hated this hotel. Fairly boring. Could have done with a pogo stick or something to keep me occupied. The receptionist was in fact a killer whale and offered no help whatsoever. Would not recommend.

I had a lovely stay at the Au Royal Hotel. The receptionist was always very helpful, friendly and profesionnal. I loved my room filled with Union Jacks as I am from London! I was just thinking it would have been nice to have little fridges and a kettle in the room.

Well placed and with the rate c is just what can make you want to go back.

Manager Good quality ratio. We had a double room with 2 shower rooms and TV. Clean bedding. The rooms have lived but nothing breaker. Small downside regarding the showers that deserves the berths to be changed. Deserves the two stars. The parking lots are paid except in the weekend. Many restaurants in the vicinity (Brasserie, kebab, Japanese)

Old but good reception, reasonable price and 15mn walk to the door of the Aude… of the medieval city.

Huge Disappointment. The presentation photos show pretty nice and well presented Rooms. In reality, the rooms are dirty, on the edge of Unsanitary. Unglued carpet, Dirty tapestry, moldy shower curtain, dust in every nook and cranny. You will also enjoy the discussions and evenings of your neighbors thanks to Non-existent Insulation.

The only positive thing is the Reception.

The hotel is very well located and the staff is nice.
Room and bathroom a little ageing.
Sleep disturbed by noises (piping I guess. ) all night. I reported the PBL the next day another room was proposed to me.

The checkin very good, explained everything and the staff was very nice. The hotel looks somewhat old but in general lines very comfortable. There is parking at Gambetta Square at €7 24h. Very well located. I would repeat without thinking.

Horrible. Indecent room, filth and dead bugs everywhere, looks like nobody's been in there in months. Parking is actually the public way in front of the hotel, so if in the evening you don't find place… look around the country. Very serious note: we stayed in the evening after the bombing and, despite the climate of fear and the maximum security measures throughout the city, the reception give us the room without asking us any document, when we hand them to say that they do not serve. Unheard!

Old. No elevator for three floors. Room without charm.

Very, very dirty, rooms left, bathrooms unkempt, not grab breakfast, little variety and quality. The Wi-Fi is fatal.
It is saved by the location to be central and to park in front. (in the month of October, of course)

Good location (Downtown Carcassonne), free parking. Close to the Citadel. Rooms and bathrooms clean but require a certain refreshment. Noisy. Breakfast OK.

Clean looking rooms. But noisy AF. Hot AF. No air circulation — if you open your window someone smoking will be just below letting the stench seep into your room. Could not sleep for more than a few hours. Walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors coming and going and even a muffled conversation. Breakfast is a joke and way over priced with a 25% tax. So glad we only paid for one out of two days. It's a bread basket and coffee, with juice if you get there before all the other patrons drink it. The carafes are not refilled.

Nice pleasant central 2 star hotel.

Cozy rooms, breakfast included, close enough to the old Town.

Very nice lady at reception. The hotel is very clean and cosy. Simple, but with a lovely decor.

Nice and cheap neighborhood hotel for our weekend in love.
We had a refurbished room and took advantage of the manager's wise advice for our excursions.

The rooms are very small, the double beds are smaller than those in Italy and in our rooms the bathrooms were inside a closet open above in the bedroom, so not very functional! However the price is contained, we spent 20 euros for a 4-seater room (2 "doubles") one night in mid-August.

We stayed at this hotel for one week at the end of August 2008, good location for cite and bastide. The breakfast was a good choice of cheese, eggs, ham bread and cereals and a variety of hot and cold drinks. Our room was very clean and staff very helpful. However as we were on the top floor we found that the room got really hot. There was only a ceiling fan. Our room was at the front of the hotel and we found it very noisey at night, so found it a problem to have the window open. It would have been better if the hotel had a lift.
