This place is wonderful. Unfortunately this place doesn't have fridge or large space in shower to lay over shampoo, deadorant, toothpaste, etc. I really wish there would be a fridge after a hot day to leave my water / juice etc in the cold and enjoy a cool frosty drink. Ladies don't bother to do your make up in the single persons rooms. Just get into the "spa" hot tub place and prepare your make up there. This place also rents many activity type equipment: Rowing boat, Sup-board, ATV, Frisbee golf, kayak, bicycle, fatbike, canoe, and fishing equipment.

Great location of the hotel, restaurant, terrace and beach super! Single room okay, bathroom is small and old. The joints had strong spores in the shower in my bathroom. I was on the way through by moped and have half pension. 3 course menu. Fish soup okay nothing special. For the main course I got pork schnitzel in butter exuberant potato strips and 6 cubes of vegetables under the schnitzel. I come from Germany and have to eat schnitzel in Finland? Wrong world! Dessert should be mousse chocolate. I got a scoop of vanilla ice cream and no 2 whole strawberries. I'm really disappointed. Apparently, this is all about winning not the guest in this house. I will not propose to any of my friends and relatives in this House.

Hotel is very nicely located by a lake. Lots of mosquitoes! Room small, two narrow beds. Windows cannot be opened. Air conditioning broken. Wet cell tiny. Small, standard breakfast buffet that doesn't tear you off your stool.

Beautiful place to stay. Wonderful staff. Great food!

We just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel Kalevala. I cannot day enough about this hotel and their fabulous staff. I wish I got your staff’s names because they were exceptional at customer service and making us feel welcomed. The food was exquisite, the breakfasts and the dinners. The sauna was immaculate and had the amenities of a spa. The views were breathtaking and the hotel had many seating areas around the property to just sit and enjoy watching nature.
I only wished we had more time to stay. For a beautiful resort, it felt like home.
We will be traveling again from the United States to visit Kuhmo and will definitely stay at this wonderful hotel.

My partner and I just returned from a fantastic holiday at Hotel Kalevala. We unfortunately arrived a day later than planned due to missing a connection in Helsinki but they were very obliging, changing our transfer last minute and rearranging the cross country skiing we missed on the first day for our last day. The activities were great fun and organised very well and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. We were very lucky to see the Aurora Borealis and had a brilliant evening, even with a temperature of minus 25 degrees Celsius. Jari was very kind and thoughtful. The food was delicious especially Duck Confit. Our room was clean and comfortable. The outdoor jacuzzi is a fantastic experience and the surroundings stunning. We would love to return in the summer and maybe again for a winter experience again. Would definitely recommend! Kittos team Kalevala.

Spent a fantastic 5 days here, comfortable and friendly in a beautiful setting.

Fantastic place. A proper winter wonderland! Staff were so friendly and there was a great range of activities. Buffet always had a great range of food, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, although heavy on the fishy options. Rooms were nice, although the showers were quite cramped. Overall had an awesome experience and worked highly recommend.

Great lunch and comfortable rooms.

Nice and clean place to stay. The reception is very nice and helpful. We stayed here off-season so it was pretty quiet and relaxing. They have a small pool and a sauna which can be used. The website stated we booked without breakfast, but the reception told us that the breakfast is included which is nice.

Great Hotel Located near a nice lake where you can make nice walks the rooms are nice and very clean the breakfast is plentiful.
