Don’t be intimidated by the word “hostel” — our room was more like a 3* hotel. Clean place, comfortable beds and sheets, lots of towels, friendly staff, breakfast was quite ok. By the way — super tasty desserts. Be aware that about half of the rooms are facing busy street, ask to place you in backyard-facing room if what may be an issue to you.

The hotel in Tartu is very simple but more or less ok.
But the breakfest for 5€/person was the worst breakfest experience I ever had. Poorest choice I have ever seen and with combination with only 1 employee is working to refill empty baskets… Spent more than hour hoping to have something to eat. Never ever spend Your time and money on that.

There are PROS and CONS for this hotel. PROS: Breakfast is a real one; good and furnished. The design concept is interesting but disappointing as it is minimalist, approximately functional and not really fun. Nothing new with the design, I saw the same kind of design in cheap hotels across Europe. The main positive side was the service and reception. One particular lady was helpful and greatly accommodating. Without her our stay would have been bad. We hired a family bedroom which was largely enough for two nights. The proximity of restaurants is a + CONS: The noise: despite efforts made to isolate sound from the street you can widely hear bus and cars driving during the day and the night. Earplugs are a must. Toilets were smelling terrible like stuffy. Hopefully the lady at reception came and added product to dissolve dirts in water pipes of the shower. It really helped but she had to do it twice. We received sincere apologies. The noise part 2: doors were creaking a lot, you could here the neighbours taking a shower or flushing the toilets, etc. I let your imagination goes on what possible to hear. The design: simple maybe fun but not functional at all. Bed lights switch button is not accessible when you in bed, the wire floats above your head. So you got it: it looks new and modern designed but actually this looks more a lure to hide the worst thing that happens in cheap hotels. Note that the price was not cheap at all I do not recommend for a couple or family.

It's a lovely place with a nice, fresh style. It's located close to the city centre (20 minute walk, public transport available). The staff is friendly and helpful; we could drop our luggage off before check-in so we could explore around the hotel until the room was ready. The (shared) bathroom is clean, though somewhat small for me (1.90m), and the provided kitchen (also shared) provides a good fridge; we haven't really used it otherwise. The rooms are clean, though somewhat spartan. The north-facing rooms do get a lot of traffic noise. Beds are great, but could use better pillows. Definitely 5/5, we had a great stay and would stay here again.

Easily reachable and friendly reception. The room itself however was for from special: small, it lacked a table and was very warm. The bathroom was perpetually wet, while the breakfast was very barebones. The "design" aspect was neat, but for this price, we expected more from a hostel.

Excellent experience staying at Hektor. The rooms are simply furnished but nice, the gym is tiny yet all the equipment is new and works properly, meals are delicious and the staff is hospitable and welcoming (Rando was particularly friendly and forthcoming in explaining the ins and out of staying at the hostel and attentive to the customer's needs — he deserves a bonus for this month! ). The location is also nice, close to the hipsterish restaurants and shops area and a supermarket. Highly recommend it.

Very simple and very amazing. Everything was clean, the room was comfortable. The only thing is you share a mini kitchen and toilet with the room next to you.

Great place, pretty clean, staff very friendly. If you are looking for a nice place at a good price 10-12min walking distance from city center, this is it! Coffee only 1€ ☕️❤️

Really a surprise this hotel. Beautiful interior design all coordinated and on the shades of yellow/white/black. Very large and clean room Very good breakfast Staff very friendly and prepared. Ample free parking at the side of the building. Enclosed parking and guarded for a fee.

Loved Hekto Hostel. Our room was great, very spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. Short taxi ride in and out of town. Breakfast was fabulous and so was the cafe. Staff were very helpful. Highly recommended. Cheers.

Definitely lives up to the design in the name. The entire hostel has a unified theme with the colours and furnishings matching. It is however not form over function as the rooms have everything you would wish from a hostel and more. Bed, shower, fridge, microwave, free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets to plug your electronic gadgets into. The reception is very helpful with anything you might need and has a cafe and bar. The breakfast buffet is good with all the usual options and more so.

It's a good hostel. The common kitchen is clean. The kitchen supplier are not that much but cooking is sure possible.

Very clean and tidy hostel, cool interior too! The only minuses are very heavy doors that are very hard to go through with a baby pram and that people steal all the forks and spoons from the downstair's kitchen.

Totally didn't expect a hostel to be this awesome! Rooms have everything you might need for a comfortable stay — kettles, microwaves, fridges, small stoves, kitchen utensils and even dishwashing liquid. All the furniture looks brand new and the heating works even though it's not heating season yet. The bar downstairs has good prices and a huge selection of drinks too. Would definitely stay here again :)

A good and comfortable minimalistic hostel. Has everything you need for a short or a cheap stay! It has even separate rooms with separate bathrooms if required.

It's clean, and it's pretty. Not far from the center. At the same time, the price pleases. Recommend!

Got more than I expected out of this hostel, having an individual room to myself with a shared bathroom. It was a perfect for a quiet, solo rest but if you're in the mood to meet people at a hostel you'll probably want to look elsewhere.

Able to get 2 single rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Rooms bright, clean, modern. Good atmosphere. Good breakfast. Recommended.

If you want a room with specific amenities, call them — booking process on the web doesn't provide options for specifics like a kitchenette, TV or an apartment-type room with bedroom and living room. All in all my experience was good, staff sorted out our requests as soon as we notified them about our expectations towards the mentioned amenities. Rooms were nice, location is okay and staff friendly.

Best hotel I have been in a while. It veats many more "luxurious" hotels. Super clean. Super friendly. Brand new! Near the center, TUT and the train station. Good city busses connections. It is my hotel in Tartu!
