Castle Hotel

I had a very bad experience at this place. The staff didn’t open the door for me when I arrived, and later asked me to pay more than the booking amount. I was not given a key to the shared room, the door was broken, and the bathroom window was damaged, letting in constant wind. I definitely do not recommend this place, especially for women — it does not feel safe or welcoming at all.

Castle Hotel Cairo — Great place to stay in a good location in Cairo. Walking distance from downtown and many nice restaurants and shops, also from bus stations. 24hr reception. Authentic looks and clean fully AC rooms with bathroom. Great sunrises and sunsets from the top terrace. The breakfast was one in a kind. Totally recommended to stay in this place while exploring this beautiful country.

The charm of Castle Hostel in Cairo! With a decent price, limited breakfast, and a museum close by, it's the perfect base to explore. While Wi-Fi could be better, you'll be treated to good hospitality and a stunning view of Cairo city and the Nile river. The old furniture adds character to your stay.

It's a comfortable place where you feel home. Firstly, its location at downtown facilitates movement to all places in Cairo. Secondly, you have friendly hospitality from all staff there.
I strongly recommend it.

The good thing about this place is its location, it's literally in the middle of downtown and close to all the places I wanted to visit; museums, Nile, khan el Khalili, as well as street food and old cairo buildings and cafes. The room is clean but other than that the place is super average, the breakfast is uneatable, and I had a bad experience with one of the employees. But if you're looking for a place to stay on budget and of course eat a restaurant nearby this is your place. Oh and there's no mini fridge or even kettle in the room.

Basic accommodation at central location near Tahrir square and Talaat Harb on the 16th floor of Marouf tower (2 entrances, take the one closest to Marouf street). Advantage is the street noise is distant. Staff who checked me in, acted routinely, but correct. Nice view from the communal room. Breakfast okay.
Main reason to go to another hostel: awful mattrasses. It felt like getting piercings in your back. There seems to be a policy of putting doors and windows open to let the wind through. Cool if you are cleaning, but not when you are having breakfast.
Window in the room broke open in the middle of the night due to wind. Needs repair and not just an improvised fix.

Stay here about a weeks, pleasantly nice staff. Great location especially a street behind can easily find all kind of foods and marts. On top of 16th floor so its apparently avoided and blocked those city and vehicle noises. Great value and breakfast include.

Castle Hostel is a cute and comfy hostel in the center of Cairo. We spend a total of 5 nights, the room was clean and the bed comfy. The rooftop was absolutely the best! 😻 A cozy space with great views to chill after a long day exploring the city. Nevertheless, my favorite part of the hostel was the staff, all of them were lovely and attentive to all our needs💘

First of all, we’d like to thank the amazing staff of this hostel that made our stay super comfortable. Our room was more than enough for the price we paid, bed was comfortable. Rooftop was spectacular, there was free breakfast every morning. Lastly, would like to mention again that all the staff was super friendly and helped us with all our requests. 🤎

Don't book this hotel. It is terrible. All they want is money. We booked 1 person 2 nights in a triple room (we knew we booked for only 1 person) and wanted to add one person to the room, they charge us the doubled price. It is ofc okay to charge more because we want to add person, but not 85 usd!, it was an awful and an unbelievably expensive price in Egypt. And there was no water for a whole day, elevator was broken and we needed to climb 7 floors. The lady who prepared our breakfast was a nice lady, but other than her, everything awful.

I stayed for 5 night's at the Castle hotel and had a great time. It's the kind of place where solo travelers can meet other travelers, like the old backpacker days! Yes the elevator is scary but it plays a dua for your safety. 😁 The terrace is nice in the morning for breakfast. My only suggestion is to bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise (altho you get used to the sounds of Cairo). Fresh towels and more toilet paper for each room would be good too, but its normal at a hostel. Location is perfect for seeing the real, genuine Cairo. Lots of great places to eat and drink nearby. Helpful, friendly staff. See you again!

Clean rooms and nice terrace. However (as it seems to be the case in most hotels in Egypt), I wouldn’t recomend contracting any tours/activities through the hotel as they charge a big surplus. We found our desert tour 75 euros elsewhere, the owner assured us that the 125 euros he wanted to charge us was a very good price. This is after a long speech saying that for him money is not important and what is important is customer satisfaction, making friends and that nowadays he barely makes any money through tours/acrivity.

Clean, excellent location, well run, no bed bugs, strong hot water pressure for the showers. The manager is cosmopolitan, helpful, fluent in English, Arabic and Swedish as well. Committed to the success of his business, he clearly wants each guest to be happy. The young men he has hired to manage the desk 24/7 were all highly intelligent, personable, helpful, gracious, fluent in English, and a genuine pleasure to get to know. The housekeeper/cook is the sweetest person I met in Cairo, and that's high bar — it's a city populated with warm, open, friendly people.  I will remember the entire staff fondly. The rooftop is the great amenity — broad view of the city and a lovely place to hang out, with a big guest fridge, kettle, and fully equipped kitchen for cooking. I stayed 19 nights in the dorm room (7 beds) meeting many extraordinary world travelers, making some good international friends. Wifi worked throughout the hotel-hostel including the rooftop and dormroom. There's a different cooked breakfast every morning, though there are also lots of restaurants to choose from nearby as well. Great place to stay overall, if you enjoy meeting friendly travelers in a comfortable environment. I'd be happy to stay there again.

Stayed here multiple nights and would highly recommend it. Quiet and comfy rooms with good beds, clean bathrooms, delicious free breakfast, a fantastic rooftop space with views of Cairo, 24-hour reception, laundry service, good Wi-Fi, unbeatable location. Competent, kind, friendly staff! This place is wonderful.
