Very bad experience! The owner very idiotic, shows bad face, also missed a suitcase to my cousin and the owner of the hotel was more angry with us accusing us of drunks…
So you trip? You're going to mountaineer, aren't you? But it's not for them to use an excuse and steal our belongings and come out braver… I DON'T RECOMMEND IT.

I do not recommend to backpackers this place that makes you work for 6 hours and the owners have a very bad deal. Are two chetos for anything kind. The q are hosted in exchange for a good score on the networks give away free alcohol. And then speak evil of them all! DESPICABLE.

Such a cool hostel with a really chilled out vibe! Spacious and clean rooms, clean bathrooms and kitchen/communal area. Always have stuff going on in the evenings so it’s a great way of meeting new people. They also offer surf lessons and trips to Isla de la Plate & Whale Watching. I arrive early in the afternoon to rest and do a nap. I've booked a private room to be sure to be quiet. The problem is that the hotel were playing electronic music so loud, I could not even understand them in the desk or sleep in my room. After one hour of BOOM BOOM music I decide to leave the place. The owner wanted to make me pay for the all 2 nights I've booked… As he doesn't want to speak English, Talking with him was not easy… they have use force to make me pay. I finally pay for 1 night and they charge me 12% more as I paid by credit card. So finally I paid 22$ for 1 hour…

A good hostel to stay and enjoy the beach has a very nice atmospheres my friends and I had a great time in this place I recommend it.

I enjoyed in Hidden House Hostel. It's located in a excellent place. The crew is customer service oriented. They offer different activities that can enjoy you.

A great hostel with nice, clean rooms and a laid back atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay here but I’m honestly not sure how it got ranked in the top 20 surf hostels in the world. There is no pool or restaurant and the bar only serves like 3 drinks. Regardless, great location and great prices.

What a stay! My friends and I approached the Hidden House hostel for the first time excited, after having heard rave reviews from friends who we had met along the road, but nothing could have prepared us for the beautiful reality. We barely left the hostel over the next few days, for why do so? The hammocks lulled us into a soft, warm haze until dusk, when we were awakened by a battle cry of fun and alcohol. The partying was intense, the iguanas crawling over the sand were beautifully grotesque and the showers were amongst the best we have experienced in South America. Can’t wait to tell both of my parents to stay here shortly!

This is very good, we liked it but there are many mosquitoes. Overall very good, all perfect but no water and many insects, it is normal, is next to a river with stagnant water.

If you only want to smoke weed and party, you might be able to be drunk/stoned enough to sleep or even help producing the noise until late night/morning. In this case this place is recommendable. If you want your peace, it is not.

Friendly staff with above average English. Lovely hammocks to chill in, slight risk of getting shat on by an iguana from the trees if you do though. How much sleep you get will depend on what kind of people are sharing your cramped 12 bed dorm, and how much you or they have had to drink or smoke. Beer at the bar is a very reasonable 1.50 for half litre bottle.

Everything in general is very good, but that in what they refer to the common space. For example: There are different chairs, tables, hammocks, torches, television with Netflix, PS4, a bar there are even iguanas in the surroundings that pass from time to time (without causing problems obviously).
But in the pieces or baths (which are common) it has to be understood that with this climate the main problem are the insects. And the pieces have mosquito nets! But they do not assure you 100% that is not going to enter something the same with the bathrooms and showers. That I think is the main problem, but it is basically inevitable anyway.

The rooms are too small, it was obvious the the sheets were not changed before our arrival, the bathrooms were dirty and the front desk personal gave us wrong information about bus tickets. Would not recommend, will not return. Ps. All those "5 stars" are from people who recieved free drinks in exchange of a good review/comment.

DON’T GO THERE! Terrible customer service, the owner and front desk people don’t care about their guests. They took advantage of us and made us pay for one extra night and then sold it to someone else so they got double the pay for the same night. We should not be charged for a night we didn’t stay there. The rooms were dirty, the sheets hadn’t been changed when we got there, they were covered in sand and had blood stains all over. There was no hand soap for guests in any of the bathrooms, the showers and toilets were filthy. The only reason they have any good reviews is because they offer free drinks for people that leave good reviews.

Great hostel where to spend great festive moments! The dorms are cool with mosquito net and believe me it's not luxury the chill space is top with lots of hammock, good music and a cat too cute as a bonus! In short come without hesitation.

Perfect place to rest from the partying of montanita, price-quality relation good (8 dollars a night), good atmosphere, music, bar, TV with Netflix and play station.

Cramped dormitory accommodation. This place tries to get top marked reviews with offers of free drinks. Informed the booking company I used for my reservation that I hadn't checked in when I was staying there.

Loved staying at hidden hostel. One of my best experiences in Ecuador so far. The hammocks are so relaxing and the communal spaces create a sense of community between all the guests. So close to the beach! I would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone visiting Montañita.

Good place very comfortable and clean. Hot showers and good hospitality. It is far enough away from the center to be able to rest and close enough as Oara to go to the party area and walk back.

We really enjoyed the hostel, quiet and with good vibes. Preferred.

Great hostel for the price. Only thing is, if you are looking for a quiet sleep this isnt the place for you.

A loud, party hostel. Great to chill at and meet people, with the best cocktail prices around. Rooms are small and no private bathrooms, but it's nice overall. Safe as well and far enough from the Montañita party, although it is its own party.

Great place for surfer and backpack travellers! Very nice and clean garden with several hamocks to relax in.

Beautyful garden with good music, relaxed, surfboards for hire for a reasonable price. There is a downside about surfboard rental. They charge too high prices for defects/damage and charge you even for broken parts when it is obviously not your fault.

Cheap hostel but bfast isn't included. Not too far from the beach so you could still get a good night sleep. Loving the hammocks area. Plenty of shower rooms and common kitchen area is available for everyone. Area is safe. Bed is comfy. Wi-Fi is quite good. Would stay there again ;)

They overcharged us last night at the party, we were 4 people and ended up paying for 5. A young blond guy kept playing innocent quite childishly with a smirk on his face, very unprofessional.

Tiny room with a lot of crickets and mosquitoes. Nowhere to sit and put your stuff. Nice common areas with lots of hammocks, 2 kitchens. It's great value for your money.

Excellent stay! I've been camping 3 weeks at this hostel. Good atmosphere, good cleanliness, excellent kitchen. And great space!
The only thing I do not really like is that there is music from 9 am … but everything else is great!

Overbooked and the owner doesn't care.

Good hostel overall but unfortunately the administration got slightly mixed up and it was assumed that I was in another bed, causing my bed to be cleared out, causing me to lose a pair of boxers. Things like this happen, of course, but it wouldn't necessarily have had to. For the rest: the beds are amazing, the staff is friendly and the outside area is great.

The owner of this hostel, Jose Viteri, is a sociopathic terror. He runs two filthy, mold infested hostels and calls the cops as soon as you critique anything about him or his pathetic ego. Furthermore, he is perpetually drunk or hungover — this is not a proper business whatsoever. For your safety, stay far away from this establishment.

I encantoooo! He place is beautiful, super rustic and the people super good vibes, economical and far enough away from the city as to sleep well are to be very far.

Very nice! It is like camping in the jungle! Chill music is playing. Cheap beers good hammocks! Lots of charging outlets. Bathrooms are ok shower takes awhile to heat up, but cold shower is nice! Beds are clean for the price! Good kitchen. Cute kitty. Nice hangout place! Good bug nets. Nice and quiet!.
