The place is pretty basic, looks dirty, reeks of mothballs, lack of staff makes service very poor, over two hours waiting for breakfast and they didn't have enough for all guests. Disappointing. I don't recommend it at all.

EVERYTHING:-) My favorite, the swinging hammock, the sound of the waves and my book.
I count the sleeps till I can return again and see the beautiful sun sets.
I have to admit I was nervous traveling so far from home (Canada) but once we arrived my worries vanished. Sundown Beach Hotel is a beautiful place full of love and caring. Our Hosts, well our family, greeted us with open arms and treated us like we’d always been part of the Sundown family.
We will return as soon as we are able.
I still have not had a ceviche as good as Grandmas.

Best little family owned beach hotel/hostel on the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will go back one day to stay longer and enroll in daily Spanish classes.

I stayed at this hotel for about a month between March 17 — April 15, 2018. This is a family owned hotel and the owners couldn’t be sweeter. They also facilitated Spanish classes and I had an awesome teacher, Luis. The hotel room was cleaned every other day and the hotel ground was cleaned every day, a very well maintained facility. I loved walking in the beach, loved body-surfing, and watching beautiful sunset. 20 steps from private beach. I recommend this hotel highly for singles, couples and family, and Spanish language students.

Very nice hotel and the attention of their own excellent, they were very friendly and made us feel welcomed and cared for.

Me and my boyfriend spent here 4 nights on february. It´s great place if you need some rest with almost no people on the beach and just enjoy the sound of the waves. ). The owner is very kind and helpful person. The beach was clean and most of the time we were here alone, rooms were nice and clean as well, the same with the surrounding of the house. For 3 dollars per day you can use big kitchen with everything what you need in it — smoothie maker, toaster, coffee, fridge and so… There is also a big hall with table tennis, on the beach you have playground for beach volleyball. We had a really nice time here. Thank you.

Really beautiful place right on the ocean. A 15 minute walk down the beach to the town of Canoa. Alexandra, the owner is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Sundown Beach Hotel!

I stayed here for a few weeks and got some Spanish lessons from Luis Ponce. I spent 2 months in Ecuador and this hotel was the best place I stayed for all the best reasons. They are very nice and accommodating, the beach was great, good food, awesome spanish lessons on the beach, honest staff, Wi-Fi and I could go on and on. If you are planning a trip to Ecuadpr make this your beach destination. 50 cent bus ride to Canoa or just walk down the beach 1.5 miles. I really enjoyed and miss the people at the Sundown Beach Hotel. Alexandria, Juan Carlos, Maria and the rest of the staff will take care of you.

This is by far the best hotel that I have stayed in during my time visiting Ecuador. The hotel is located right on the beach — which is private and peaceful. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean. There is a communal kitchen which is well maintained. There are also lots of books that guests can chose from. The owner Alexandra and her mother Margarita were lovely and went out of their way to make me feel at home. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. I hope to return in the future! The school also offers Spanish lessons.

This was one of the best hostels I've stayed in South America! Great spot — right on the beach, clean and spacious rooms, big kitchen and lovely owner. It's perfect especially for this price!

We felt so welcomed and loved by Juan Carlos, Alexandra and family. We stayed for three weeks, taking Spanish daily and enjoying our afternoons on the beach. We had a great stay and would recommend it to anybody looking to stay in Canoa!

I stayed there for almost 2years. Great place. Away from town noise. Still only 20 min walk. Great town Canoa. Hostel is great for the price. Great family owns and runs the place.

Paradise in Ecuador! Even after the recent 7.8 earthquake this place is still alive and well! One of the most beautiful spots on the Northern Coast of Ecuador. Warm days — cool breezes, excellent Spanish classes and great food! I couldn't have asked for more. I spent a month here and will be certain to come back for more! don't hesitate to visit!

The Sundown Inn is a place that once you go there you will want to return. Everything is good about it, right from the start. The general area is a beautiful chilled out beach town, the Sundown Inn itself is a beautiful little hostel/hotel with private rooms about 30 metres from the beach. The rooms are nice, and try if you get a 2nd level balcony view its unreal. The family running the Sundown are very friendly, and will always help you out. The food package they offer is amazing and cheap. The Spanish lessons are very good value also. I have no hesitation recommending Sundown Inn to anyone. Have a wicked trip there, I am jealous.
