Canoa Suites

This a very nice place, and a beautiful layout.
If you stay here, here’s what you’ll get:
A warm welcome.
A clean room and facility.
A spacious room.
Plenty of hot water with good pressure.
Good Wi-Fi.
A deck from which you can sit enjoy a beer and watch the tide roll in and out.
A quiet place. The only noise I heard at night was the waves crashing on the beach.
Close proximity to the beach.
Walking distance to Canoa.
Access to cold beer.
Friendly staff.
Our room did not share a wall with another room.
A big jug of water in the room with glasses. That was nice to have.
There was no a/c in our room, but we didn’t need it. We slept with front window slightly open and this kept the room at a comfortable temperature. There were two fans, with one being a ceiling fan. We didn’t use either.
Complaints: One is very minor. There’s no night stands next to the bed. Not that they are necessary, just nice to have. I mean what do I do with my reading glasses. But there were electrical outlets on both sides of the bed. Electrical outlets can be an issue in some locations in Ecuador. The other, the price of breakfast was excessive. $15 each for trigillio, coffee and orange juice. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t walk into town and get the same for half that price. I know I can in Quito. The bottom line is I’ll probably be a repeat customer, but I’ll walk to town for breakfast.

Every nice hotel with very relax, location with you significant other I will recommend to everybody.

Our stay at Canoa Suits was fantastic. The property is stunning and right on the beach. It’s a small intimate boutique hotel where you meet all the others staying there. It is far enough down the beach from town to be quiet and peaceful but close enough to simply walk down the beach to the sleepy surf town. It felt safe, secure and tranquil. The beach is amazing and very mellow. The owners Peter and Maija are wonderful people and their staff was fantastic. The restaurant and food had great variety and was delicious and healthy. It is an ideal location and atmosphere to unwind, relax and enjoy some beach time. This is by far the best place to stay in Canoa and we will definitely be back.

Canoa suites is an incredible place to get away and relax! I stayed in the Jardín suite with 3 other friends and had more than enough space and amenities to thoroughly relax and have a mini vacation! The food was delicious and the restaurant staff are so kind and attentive. The entire place is kept very clean and organized, with Jenny cleaning the rooms daily! The hammocks, surf boards, and boogie boards were incredible additions. The access to the beach is unmatched! Can't wait until I can come back to Cano suites. Until next time <3

A few friends and I had the MOST wonderful 3 days here, we wish we could’ve stayed a whole week or more. The 8-hour bus ride from Quito was completely worth it, even if only for a small time. The proximity to the beach is outstanding, and the beach is basically completely empty! The surfboards are great and easily accessible, the food is wonderful, and we’d often order at the restaurant, run to the beach and swim for a bit, then come back to have great food ready for us. The owners and the staff are extremely helpful and kind, and we were here over Thanksgiving where we were surrounded by just the best people. It’s clear Maija and Pete really care about cultivating a good vibe here and care a lot that their guests have a good time. As soon as any of us is back in Ecuador we’ll be coming back to Canoa Suites!

We stayed here through Ecuador freed tours and loved the stay. The owners were lovely and the room and location were great. Try the Ceviche!

A fantastic smaller full service accommodation facility.
Beautiful Spanish colonial-style buildings & rooms; very clean & simply decorated.
Easy access to the Pacific ocean beach with locally created bamboo hammock & beach table thatch-roof shelters on the property edge.
The service & food was absolutely fantastic.
In common Ecuadorian manner, the beds are VERY firm.
And the rooms have no AC equipment, only ceiling & portable fans.
The cafe / lounge area has numerous house pets; 3 very friendly dogs & Ziggy, a curious female parrot.
Would definitely consider returning when back to the area.
