Jacoway Inn

We came to Dominica looking to escape the urban life of the U. S. We did not want television, noisy air conditioners, or fast paced living. What we got instead was a balcony with a view of tropical flora, the sounds of the birds, frogs, and distant waves. The town is a 15 minute walk away and offered multiple restaurants (and an ATM).
The owner was a great host and made us feel at home. I was thankful for the days I spent at Jacoway Inn.

We had a lovely and relaxing stay at the Jacoway Inn with Carol Ann as our host. The room was clean, peaceful and the perfect location for our three-day stay on Dominica. I loved being able to sleep with the doors open and to wake up to the most beautiful breakfast waiting just steps away, complete with local juices, jams, eggs, fresh-made bread and coffee that we savored before heading to nearby beaches and attractions. I am so glad we stayed here and hope to visit again. We drove all around the island and I can say that Calibishie is the best area to stay in and Carol Ann's is a true hidden gem.

I fell in love with the lush and colourful garden of the Jacoway Inn. My favourite pastime was watching the hummingbirds! Carol Ann is a very colourful character who has many a great story to tell about island life! I had no car and the BnB is super easy to access on foot from Calibishie village. In fact there are cheap and frequent buses to all parts of the island making it easy to explore. Thank you Carol Ann and Nicki for serving the best breakfasts and making me feel so welcome!

I've spend 2 night in the little wooden house (choose it, because it's stunning! ) With my fiancée. We arrived quite late so we didn't meet Carol, the owner, right away, but we've been welcomed by a man that works with her.
The cottage was lovely and had all we needed: net around the beds against mosquitoes, water in the fridge, adapters, Wi-Fi etc.
The sourrandings and the garden itself it's magnificent. We enjoyed it so much during breakfast and also in the afternoons, me doing some yoga and Theo just chilling there and working on the computer.
About breakfast. Absolutely a plus! Everything was fresh and tasty.

We spent three lovely days at the Jacoway Inn. Carol Ann’s a fantastic host, a lovely, warm, high energy personality! The place is set in beautiful gardens with a view of the sea, and it’s close to the Calibishie area’s natural wonders.

We enjoyed this quaint hillside inn after being anchored in Prince Rupert Bay for two months on our sailboat do to the Covid-19 hysteria.
The rooms were spotless and well appointed. Our second story ‘Skylark’ room had a view of the ocean from the balcony and a most pleasant breeze throughout. There was a gazebo in the beautifully landscaped garden with a hammock for relaxing.
BUT, the best part of the stay was Carol Ann’s gourmet breakfast. Delicious homemade pastries, toast, jams, salsa, and sausages. These were served alongside skillet potatoes with fresh dill from her garden, perfectly set scrambled eggs with cheddar and garden salad. The surrounding area, including Point Baptist chocolate factory (Alan is so great) and easy half-day trips to Chaudiere Pool and Spanny Falls make this a spectacular base for exploring the east side of the island.

Beautiful welcoming guesthouse on the northeast side of Dominica! We only stayed one night, but Carol Ann set us up for a great dinner including transportation and provided one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever eaten in her beautiful garden gazebo the next morning. She and Nicky even served garden greens and her homemade jam! Wags the dog kept me company on the swing before we ate. The upper floor we stayed in was large and comfortable for two people. We had all the amenities we needed including bottles of water and a small propane burner along with a few pots pans and dishes that we could have used to make simple meals if we'd stayed longer. Carol Ann showed us her little guest cottage that was formerly a classic little Caribbean wooden home she rescued and added a kitchen and bath. With the extra space and privacy, it would be a great place for a longer stay. Rented car would be helpful but it's not far off the main road so there are options. Great place and warm welcome!

We stayed at Jacoway Inn for a couple of nights and we loved it.
Carol Ann is a great host. She is fun, always up for a good chat and very helpful.
The rooms are spacious and beautiful and everything looks like she put a lot of thought into it. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden and it is such a calm and relaxing place to hang out.
Also, I am 100% sure that she offers the best breakfast in Dominica. It made us wish we could have it 3 times a day, especially after a continental breakfast odyssey.
We would definitely recommend this place!

Carol Ann has an amazing place and location. We stayed in Grace’s Cottage and loved it. Was a little old house built over 100 year ago, Carol had found it and with the help of some very hard working locals Carol moved it to her property. Once there she worked very hard at restoring the old house and building a kitchen and bathroom additions on to the house. They did an incredible job and the house looks amazing. We looked forward to waking up each day to hear the birds chirping, having coffee at our little bistro table saying good morning to Waggs, Carols little pooch, carol and Nicky worked very hard at preparing a breakfast fit for a king, was so delicious and filling it would last you almost all day. Carol has a very unique personality, is very kind, generous with her time and very helpful with introducing us to Nigel George, a very good and informative guide of Dominica, he has endless amounts of knowledge of the island, the history and a very good guide for hiking many of Dominica’s nature trails. Carol also introduced us to a few local restaurants in Calibishe that have great food and service. My wife and I would highly recommend staying with Carol Ann any time your in Dominica… you will be pleasantly surprised and well looked after while staying there. One thing to add, if your walking to Jacoway its a bit of a hike up a steep hill to get to Carols, we’ve put in a request to put a buzzer at the bottom of the hill so we can get a shuttle ride up to Jacoway haha.
