Great location, great food and great wines.
In realtion to the hefty price, the experience is unfortunately a letdown. The actual "castle" is pretty to view from the outside. The room we stayed in which is not a part of the main building is outdated, poorly constructed and lacks the enterior one would expect in the pricerange. The adveritized kitchen lacks basic utilities and the fridge/freezer is so outdated and noisy that it cannot perform its basic task of preserving food. There were powder coffee and tea bags in the room, but unfortunately no cups : (. The lighting indoors was almost non existent which was a pitty since our room was located under a large tree. The buttons to control the existing lamps are confusing at best. The shower booth is full of unremoved spiderwebs and bugs and cleaning during our stay was not perfomed. The Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and will not automatically reconnect, the speed is painfully slow so don't expect to stream Netflix :) The beds are quite stiff and the pillows so soft that you need to stack 5 of them to achieve any head support. On the positive side the room is fairly spacious, the doors are lockable and there is a parking (although the parking surface will render suitcases unrollable. ), the breakfast was fine given that you are not a vegan/vegetarian, the staff was friendly and the general outdoors area has a charming ambience. In conclusion this hotel has a lot of potential but is in desperate need of an upgrade.
