Kragsbjerggaard Vandrerhjem

I was very enthusiastic about Kragsbjerggaard, mainly because of its history and uniqueness. It didn't really work for us, for the following reasons:
1. It's a bit far from the center of Odense, particularly the train station and particularly if you don't have a car. The neighborhood is a very attractive single-family home neighborhood with no stores or services. This was problematic when we wanted something to eat.
2. Many, if not most, rooms have a shared bathroom.
3. Our room and bathroom were TINY. Probably the tiniest I've ever experienced. (And I stay in budget hotels in New York City frequently). It wasn't big enough for more than two single beds and a small chair. No room to open a suitcase. If you are sitting on the toilet, your knees will be under the sink. Furthermore, there isn't any kind of lobby or common-area space where you could spend time.
4. The breakfast was adequate, but pretty spartan.
5. The hotel is unstaffed after 5:00 P. M. I neglected to read the on my reservation confirmation that I was supposed to notify them of a late arrival by 4:00 P. M. When our train arrived in Odense at 5:15, I was a little frantic about whether we'd be able to get in our room, and there was no one to call. Luckily, they left our room key in the reception area… it would have been nice if they could have emailed us to let us know they were doing this.
5. Our room, on the second floor, was too hot, all night long, even with the window open.

The rooms are horrible and the free breakfast is only bread with little meat thats all. The showers where only cold and no privacy with creeps in there. You have to pay for all the sheets and if you do bring your own you will have to pay even more bc they dont believe you. And they lie about half of the thing they say. And you cant sleep bc there are always some kids running around the hotel and trowing stuff around. And the password to the internet is 14 diffrent words in 3 diffrent languages and you also get to pay extra. And there was no staff to clean or take care of the hotel. Ant the toilets are full of kids that smoke and vape 24/7. And the keycard dosent work for the first 50 times.

A bit expensive for what it is.
The walls are quite thin and it gets loud in the morning. Combine that with the fact that the window blinds are not dark enough and you won't be sleeping past 7:30.
Why is there only a single ungrounded socket in the whole room?
I really don't like the extra fee for sheets.
The breakfast is ok but not worth 120kr.

I made a booking based on the cheapest listing on Booking. Com. However, after confirming the reservation, I received an email stating that I need to pay 95 DKK (13 EUR) per person for a bed linen set. I have stayed in over 100 hotels/hostels and have never encountered a fee for linens. Your current linen policy is misleading to customers, and a 95 DKK fee for linens is ridiculous. Next time, you might as well rent the room without beds and inform customers that if they don't want to sleep on the floor, they can either pay 95 DKK or bring their own beds. I tried to cancel my booking after seeing this additional fee, but my cancellation request was not accepted as I made the booking only 2 hours prior to arrival. Even if there is somewhere listed, the linen fee is hidden you are not almost aware of it until you make the booking. So it's a classic scam on which one they get booking and take the money. I would be ashamed of that type of business. For Hospitality 0, for SCAM 10!

Fantastic location, very good service, I highly recommend this coosy place right in the center of Odense. The hotel has been renovated recently and everything is top notch. Walking distance to city center and HC Andersen House. In the morning you can sit outside in the yard and enjoy your breakfast, great place to stay.

Not cheap but fairly clean and tidy except for the occasional ant. There is also free Wifi.

The hostel is quite ok in overall. Room was clean and nice. Staff is very friendly. BUT You have to pay for the linens… What a joke is that? Include it in the price and don't trick your guests, please!
I've been in many hostels but it was something new I didn't think I supposed to check before booking, now I know…

Very mixed. Staff are friendly, breakfast is good. Everything else is very basic. All of the items in the games room are broken apart from the table tennis. Beds are fairly standard for a hostel. There's no friendly lounge like you have in UK hostels. Bathrooms are quite grim with poor showers. It's about 25 mins walk+ to a cafe. No bars nearby. I think if you have dogs or young kids it would be good. Parking is easy and the Bunker Museum is next door which is a plus.
