Le Mat Hostel

I’ve been to 32 countries all over the world, and I can easily say that Le Mat Hostel felt more like my private retreat or home rather than a hostel—just amazing!
Spacious, relaxing, cozy, and close to everything. If you’re visiting Larnaca or Cyprus, Le Mat is a no-brainer.

Location is great. However insulation is horrible. Sleep quality is zero. Even in private rooms there is space between doors and wall and you can hear everyone coming at 2AM or leaving at 6AM. There is even glass above the doors in the private rooms so the light from the corridors enters the room. This could easily be solved. But the management seems uninterested and in general stuff was not good with giving information on what to do or see. This was super disappointing. Heating is only AC and no heating in the kitchen, common areas and bathroom so it is quite cold in winter months.

All in all this is a great hostel. It's clean, their communication and service is good, the location is great and the decoration is nice. The only downside is that the rooms aren't insulated well. Because of that you can smell smoke in the room if people smoke on the balcony and it's noisy. Just grab some earplugs and you're good.

My stay at Le Mat Hostel was very pleasant. Everything was clean and well looked after, and the staff made sure the rooms and common areas were refreshed every morning. The bed felt comfortable and practical with a curtain, a good lamp and a working outlet, which made it easy to settle in.
I enjoy cooking, so I was happy to find the kitchen in great shape. It was tidy, everything functioned properly and it was easy to prepare a simple meal without any hassle.
The shared spaces were relaxed and comfortable, and the location was ideal with the sea just a short walk away. It made getting around and exploring the area very convenient.
I had a really good time here and would certainly recommend Le Mat Hostel to others.

Really nice hostel — well-located near the beach. Was able to do laundry for 3 euros, which I really appreciated. Most of all, the owner Gregory was super friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

The entrance door of " Le Mat" hostel reminded me of a medieval castle door and on entering this palatial mansion felt I was on the sets of a film shoot based on early 20th century society. When built this mansion must have been a jewel in this historic Old Town of Larnaca. Larnaca Fort and Djami Kebir, or the Great Mosque, an active Muslim mosque having one towering minaret is just a few meters away from " Le Mat" hostel. The Church of Saint Lazarus, a late-9th century church in Larnaca is just walking distance from " Le Mat" hostel. Prime location hostel for Backpackers and budget tourists in Larnaca. Finikoudes promenade and the beach is just walking distance from the hostel as also all the plush restaurants. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel and there is a kitchen for guests to cook.

I loved my 6 day stay at Le Mat Hostel! The hospitality was wonderful, beds in co-ed dorm were comfortable. They made a special accommodation for ground bunk so I could get to bathrooms during the night! I played my guitar and sang, and others joined in singing all those good old American songs… what a blast!

Very easy Hostel to be at. Nice, helpful staff.
The vibe and feel of the place is welcoming. The bottom bunks have a curtain that gives full privacy and the top bunks have a half curtain but felt fairly private too. You also get a decent size lockable storage space. Good Wi-Fi, Power point in your bunk with a reading light. The bathrooms are HOT and the stalls are small, so prepare yourself for that. The beach and restaurants are very close by, can reccomend.

I stayed at Le Mat Hostel and it was a wonderful experience! The place is 100% clean, quiet, and has a very unique design with a special charm that makes it stand out. Every detail feels thoughtfully chosen, creating a cozy and stylish atmosphere.

Really nice hostel, chill and relaxed atmosphere, quiet. Perfect location near beach and town. Very easy to get to by bus or taxi from the airport. Clean rooms, We had a room with private bathroom which I was happy about. The ac in the room is a nice break from the heat. We were able to store our luggage after check out which was very convenient!
I personally wouldn’t cook in their kitchen, but it’s perfectly fine for a quick breakfast. The outside sitting is very beautiful and peaceful.

This was a unique place to stay. Clean room — very high ceiling with aircon. Great outdoor area downstairs as the communal area. Well organised and set up.
100m from the beach. Close to local restaurants and touristy areas but also has a local feeling. Fast Wi-Fi. Shared bathroom was not an issue.
Private rooms and also dormitory available.

I traveled about 35+ countries. My last hostel experience was a top one from Vienna, and this one in Cyprus is by far my favorite of all times! It's cozy, very historical on a dream location, one inch from a castle and the beach.
The staff was amazing! They accommodated me for an early check-in and also helped me to get around with public transportation: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH CABS! it's a 13-minute public bus from the airport. About 3€
The hostel has an amazing vibe, super quiet and clean, the most clean I ever seen, compared to Athens hostels (they are disgusting dirty). People leave behind many things to share. You really feel welcome! I paid forward and left my female higiene products and suplies.
I loved the ambiance of the hotel and the rooms be divided in Tarot cards. The hostel has a fully equipped kitchen, good conditions and fridge looks brand new. Coffee, tea and cold filtered water free, 24hrs. The beds were confortable and I am a tall girl, making some reviews untrue. They provided me a duvet right away without request advising me from the AC turned on during the night in case I feel cold. It was in a sealed bag and all the sheets were sparkly white, as I mentioned before the cleaning of this place is higher then resorts, because everything was cleaned daily in the morning. Rubbish was removed daily as well.
The hostel was full and I saw no mess in the shared washroom area.

Beware of the false advertisement by the owner. I booked this hostel because they claimed it had air-conditioning, however only after check-in you find out that the A/C hours are limited to 2-4pm and 9pm-6am. I stayed there in the last week of July, when the temperature outside was 37C/99F, so the hours without A/C were unbearable.
The hostel offers 6 rooms of 10 beds each, but only have 2 showers, and when I stayed there one was out of service. The restrooms (only 2 as well) are tiny, you can barely fit inside.
The beds are very uncomfortable with privacy curtains for the bottom bunks only. They also don't offer proper blankets, just thin linen. Furthermore, they assign you the bed beforehand, which is very unusual for a hostel. I wanted to switch to a bottom bunk, and the owner was willing to do so only if I promised not to post a bad review about the hostel.
The front desk is only manned between 9am-2pm, and the owner is very unfriendly.
The only thing going for the hostel is its great location, however even that is with an asterisk, because there is a mosque next to the hostel which causes noise pollution during prayer hours.
I was supposed to stay there for a week, checked-out after 3 days because it was so bad. I recommend that you avoid this place.

Fantastic hostel. Great location, easy self check-in, and super clean. Bathrooms are basically spotless and plenty of hot water for the shower. Nice kitchen and lounge area.

I stayed here only one night (Christmas night) but I would have been happy to stay longer. It was great.
The hostel is in a good location for walking. I really appreciated the before-hand communication, which allowed me to enter when no one was at the desk (presumably because it was Christmas Day).
I had a private room with a bathroom. Basic but spotless and comfortable.
Excellent Wi-Fi and good hot water.
The kitchen has all the amenities and is clean. The common areas are good for visiting with other travelers.

I had a wonderful time staying here. The dorm. Rooms are comfortable, the staff are helpful, and the decor fits the old style of the building, beautifully renovated. The only drawback perhaps is not having an elevator, but I got help carrying the suitcase up and down the stairs. Clean and quiet.
Great place to work, plenty of sockets to charge your devices. Will happily come back again.

One of the best hostels I have ever stay, Clean rooms and bathrooms, common area comfy and you can meet new people there or just have your lunch, in kitchen you have everything you need. Love it and will stay here again and again!
