I arrived with my 10 month young baby at Cabinas Tropical. From the outside, I thought, please, not such a barrack. I had booked at booking and the owner, an American, had increased the price by 40%. The reasons are the hotel taxes. That's a nonsense. The taxes are 12%. He was very very rude, in the evening he switched off the air conditioning, and said the electricity in Costa Rica was not free. Hello, we paid for it. He wanted to urge us to book some tours. His staff was treated very slavish. The local staff also told us how often there is a quarrel with customers. Well the next day we fled right there even though we had booked 3 days.
I'd rather pay double and triple, just not there. But I will not forget such a night with him. You notice how much he needed it because we were the only guests in high season. His positive comments at booking are all fake. I promise. Who don't believe it, please, drive there. You will experience another and animal experience in Costa Rica vacation.

If you are looking for a hostel or a hotel to stay in Jeminez this is the perfect place. It's quite and located in between the waterfront and the main street. You have a nice common place with kitchen, books and plenty of room to sit and chill. Rooms were clean customer service was fantastic and overall accommodation the best you'll find in Costa Rica. Hot water, good Wi-Fi and good comfortable clean bed. Definitely recommend cabinas tropicales. Just a tip: If you wake up early enough (6am) and go into town for coffee (it's very quite) you might see monkeys on the way ;).

Nice place with a little garden and outdoor kitchen, very clean rooms, efficient Aircon, and the beds are extremely comfortable!

Nice and quiet place to stay, the owner Mark is very friendly, open kitchen and the small garden where you can observe the beautiful birds is great.

Beautiful spot with clean air-conditioned rooms. Mark, the owner operator is amazing! Whatever you need he can get it whatever adventure you're interested in he can arrange it… highly recommend staying here!

The place is very nice and the attention is excellent.

I would recommend Cabinas Tropicales. We stayed here the night before and after hiking into Corcovado. Mark was friendly and the rooms were clean and new. Expect to have to ask him to reset the breaker for the air conditioning if you want it to work though. Easy walking distance to everything in town.

My friends and I loved our stay. Mark was awesome. The cabinas were beautiful. There was so much to do locally and Mark helped arrange some fun trip and activities. I will definitely be visiting again and bringing my kids.
