We never visit the same place twice as there are so many nice places in the world to visit and explore but we will definitely make an exeption for the captivo lodge as this place is like paradise. All staff members were so friendly and made our stay unforgettable. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which is just amazing. We felt sorry we could not stay longer.

Oh, I wish I could give this resort 10 stars. The only was to access this resort is by boat and from the moment you arrive at the marina, you are greeted by happy, excited and caring staff. The 30min boat ride is SUPER AMAZING and so relaxing. This is almost the best part of the resort. The rooms and property are very eloquently designed and furnished but keep in line with the natural resources and environment surrounding the area. This resort is small and great for a total buyout for your wedding, social or corporate getaways. This is a must do resort.

It is spectacular and natural enrichment.

The best service in the area, delicious food, amazing view front the Golfo Dulce, a lot of nature and complete relax. Half hour by ship to arrive here, a total adventure. The Costa Rica's South Pacific is a real PARADISE!

We just returned from our honeymoon at the lodge and we couldn't have asked for a more luxurious and attentive place! The staff are amazing, very attentive, thoughtful and quick to make friends with them. Chefs were wonderful catering to my food restrictions — even attempted some suggestions for dishes! The tour guides were passionate, knowledgable and full of life. The little things that made it amazing — every time we returned from a boat ride the staff greeted us with wet ylang ylang infused towels to wipe off the sale water and clean your hands and the staff greeted you at the stairs with a refreshing beverage — after a day they know to have mojitos ready for us ;)

Incredible staff, gorgeous and isolated property.

I love this place — Playa Cativo will stay forever in our hearts. — — Once we got to the rugged coastline of Golfo Dulce, a small boat ferried us to a paradise called “Playa Cativo”. Though an entirely different feel, this luxurious mini eco­resort has to be on your list of places to experience when visiting Costa Rica as well. As we approached this hidden gem surrounded by jungle imbedded in a nature reserve, which is only accessible by boat, a couple of members of the staff and GM Luis Pardo welcomed us personally at the beach with cool scented towels and fresh fruit drinks. From here on our stay was nothing less than a romantic dream with some of the most delicious and creative cuisine we had during our 4 week CR adventure—farm and boat to table at it’s best. We loved our luxurious accommodations with panoramic views of the ocean and the jungle, unforgettable sunsets and the cool breeze from the water. We especially enjoyed the kayaking & snorkeling and guided nature tours, as well as my massage in the jungle with ocean views. The entire team was exquisite!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to honeymoon at the lodge in Playa Cativo in August, 2010. Our experience there exceeded our expectations! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff took exceptionally good care of us. One of the perfect days we spent there included swimming in the bay, experiencing the wonders of the nearby wildlife sanctuary (which we were taken to in a little boat and whale watched on the way back), venturing into the roadless rainforest behind the lodge on a guided tour, and napping through the afternoon rainy season rain in the open air penthouse suite. Our days there were punctuated with delicious homecooked meals made almost entirely of ingredients from the extensive gardens and fruit trees on the property. We felt like such royalty sitting at our table for two with candles and fresh flowers as we sipped on just-squeezed juice and bird watched while keeping an eye out for dolphins in the bay. We could have stayed for weeks and never gotten bored. With all the exploring and relaxing, we only got around to borrowing the sea kayaks and playing on the pool table once… we did manage to hop in the fresh water pool a few times — — it's filled daily with mountain stream water on its way to the gulf. We're spreading the word of this hidden gem to all our outdoorsy friends who would truly appreciate the natural beauty of Playa Cativo and love the lodge as much as we did.
