This in my opinion is the best place to stay in the central valley if you're a nature lover and just starting or just ending your vacation in country.

We loved our stay here! The grounds are beautiful and so well-maintained. The best part is how charming the bar (and bar staff) and other public areas are.

You can stay as relaxed as you like and don’t misunderstand, if you are inclined to be more active there is plenty to do. Start with the aviary and move onto the butterfly observatory.

Absolutely beautiful! Service was top notch, professional, polite, helpful, readily answered all of our questions. Rooms were spectacular with phenomenal views and we loved the fireplace.

The BEST place to stay in CR if you are looking for adventure, solitude, nature, and relaxation.

Our stay at Yatama was amazing! The staff, the hikes, the accommodation, the food: everything was so good!

The restaurant is great ♥️ vegan and vegetarian options available. Lovely views.

This place doesnt come up when we search for restaurants in the area because the restaurant is part of a resort. Its the best pit stop while going to Poas, La Paz or Arenal.

This was a treat! Especially after the holiday business. The building is amazing as are the gardens.

You won't regret visiting POAS Volcano Lodge. The hotel is tucked away in the mountains surrounded by tranquility and beauty. The staff is personable, hard working, and kind.

Super cozy, unique destination, conveniently located to Poas Volcano, & La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The onsite restaurant is great, and able to accomodate for dietary needs (Vegan, etc.

Very homey and quiet place! On the top of the mountain, great country view. Cold in the raining days. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Spent two nights at this location to do wildlife photography, booked via the internet, easy with excellent communications. Accommodation was excellent together with lovey meals throughout my stay.

This is one of my favourite places in the world to visit. I came here years ago on a day trip. With a reserve bird guided tour.
I decided to come back with family to stay onsite.

This place was absolutely stunning. The grounds are beautiful and so much wildlife to be seen. The birds were sooooo cool at breakfast. The river was stunning.

What a magical place! We booked one night here for our friend’s 65th birthday and a stop on our way to Tortuguero. A little paradise on the river.

After two weeks of travel through CR we arrived here for a stop over, but it immediately felt homely with the kind hosts. If we had time we would have stayed longer.

If your in the area and in need of a place to stay, look no further. We stayed here for a few days and it was lovely.

Beautiful garden with hummingbirds and other colorful birds, once we even saw three great green macaws on a tree, excellent food, nice, clean swimming pool and very friendly hosts.

The value of Gran Gavilan is that it is set in its own grounds all of which you can walk around. It is enclosed and gated so that you don’t need to worry about security.

While traveling with a group, I had a chance to stay at the Hotel El Bambu, and I was actually quite impressed.

This place has everything you need. The rooms back onto rainforest so that your veranda is in the rainforest. Wooden walkways take you back to the restaurant, reception and pool.

The patio overlooking the pool is a fabulous place to watch wildlife. We saw a variety of birds and lizards. The rooms are spacious and unique. The entire staff were friendly and accommodating.

Another good rainforest lodge in lovely surroundings. The pool area at the rear is a real highlight and is in a beautiful natural setting with stunning wildlife all around.

We had a great stay at Ara Ambigua. The rooms are located in a beautiful garden with walking paths leading to the separate rooms. The rooms had a very big bed.

What a beautiful place! The grounds were phenomenal for birders or anyone that wants to explore. We did a night tour with their tour guide and he was AMAZING! So so incredible!

I stayed here in November 2024, during a very rainy period. The Chalet was lovely — cosy, rustic and well maintained. It made a cosy little reading nook during rainy weather!

The chalets are really nice, and we felt well taken care of. The breakfast was traditional.
Unfortunately, the weather was rainy and windy, which made things a bit uncomfortable.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. 10/10 recommend.

So grateful for the incredible stay and hospitality that was had at this location. If you are looking for a Homey vibe with great services, this is the place to go.

Absolutely amazing experience! Me and my fiancé started the day with a phenomenal canopy tour guided by Henry and Octavio. They were the best guides we had at any experience during our trip.

Henry and Octavio were absolutely amazing zip line guides! From start to finish, they made our canopy tour fun, safe, and unforgettable.

The first two nights we stayed in rustic cabins — which were huge and a fun experience. We had to move over to the regular rooms the next night which were good as well.

Amazing place, the owners are very friendly and explained us many things about their place. We almost saw more birds here than during our whole trip. Highly recommand spending at least 2 nights here.

This is an amazing hotel with charming bungalows spread throughout a massive garden with cocoa plants. There’s a lovely swimming pool and a terrace with beautiful views.

It is a very unique place and the owners are trying their best to serve customers well. You will be shocked first, when you arrive here. But then, you will love the room and the bed.

Bed was memory foam and not the most comfortable IMO. But room was very clean had hot water and ac. Had a burger at the Bar/restaurant was delicious.

Best food I ever had in Costa Rica and I am now travelling more than 3 weeks from San José, Jacó, Quespo, Manuel Antonio, Zacero, Ciudad Quesada, La Fortuna, Los Chiles!

If you truly want to relax and enjoy your time in Costa Rica stay at the peaceful hotel. Amazing views and beautiful scenery. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and always available.

I love this place. A wonderful family that is always willing to help. I have stayed there for the last 5 years and always feel welcome. Breakfast is wonderful. They are like family now.

Wi-Fi only worked up front near reception. That was a bummer. Hotel is along a noisy main road, and constant passing trucks make walking along the road quite scary and dangerous.
