Beautiful property. The drive up was challenging, if I'd known how rough the road was (we were coming from the National Park side) I'd have rented a 4x4. I understand coming up from the other side is better. The view from out cabin was fantastic. The locks and doors were a bit old and problematic but we worked through our issues. Saw toucans and humming birds and heard howler monkeys. We had 4 beds in our cabin and the mattress quality varies even within the same cabin. Food was good. No air conditioning but lots of screened windows. Lots of cows and horses in the area. Wi-Fi was very strong.

One of the best places we stayed in Costa Rica. The area is amazing. Lots of wildlife, cheap, good food, good service and very nice owner and staff. Highly recommended. I miss that place.

Quaint, local style housing. They are like log cabins but open airy for the Central American climate. The staff is warm and friendly. We loved the suggestions for local attractions owned and operated by local people. Beware, the gps doesn't know about some roads. We managed to guess where roads ought to be. The on-site kitchen provides generous portions of local cuisine. Beautifully kept grounds. We'll be back with mountain bikes to get around.

Stayed there for a couple of days with my partner. The place is absolutely lovely, you have absolute privacy in your little cabin. The two ladies working there are very welcoming, they reminded me of my mom. On one day we went for a long hike and as there is pretty much nothing in vicinty they packed us our lunches (with love and care). This region is beautiful and I'd recommend the lodge to everyone. (I think SUVs are almost necessary in this area)

Nice place to spend some quiet time. Enjoyed the rustic cabins and really found the horseback ride worthwhile if you don't mind a little rain. The food was very good but a little pricey I thought. The service was excellent. The lady that cooks and serves was soooo nice and very accomodation to my wife and I.

Very quaint, rustic little place. Amazing food at the restraunt, best Costa Rican dishes I've had across the whole country. Everyone here is very nice, warm, and inviting. You may want to invest in learning a bit of the language, how ever they do speak a bit of English and we have not issues communicating at all. Great place for an over night stay or a weekend getaway. Gorgeous scenery, and perfect for spot for anyone who loves bird watching.

A beautiful and stratitic place to vacation outside the noise of the city between birds, rivers, volcanoes, hot springs, waterfalls etc. With the comfort of beautiful cabins between Nature and the homemade spoon of Doña Rosalba a restaurant with delicious food and great attention. I lacked days to finish touring such a beautiful area good excuse to return.

Amazing place excellent food, good deal. One is in the jungle and can go to waterfalls a little nearby, spas with good nachos and enjoy ecotourism.

Excellent National Park! My visit was for the sector known as las pailas. Animals can be seen during the tour of the trail frequently. The volcanic activity is felt often by the smells and the landscape. The main trail is very accessible. Normally it takes 2 hours to step quietly and enjoying it. A beauty of place! The access and road to the park by the sector of las pailas this well maintained, a car can go without any problem.

Large Conservation area of dry tropical climate, it is recommended that sunscreen, water, insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes for the trails. Take the day and come enjoy this beautiful nature has at its disposal.!

Beautiful mountainous and volcanic site, with lots of hiking trails, some with sulfur and mud pots, and some with deep forest environments and waterfalls. It's not difficult to get to, and the road is actually usable even without a 4x4. This is a place where we did not actually hire a guide. We hiked the short trails with volcanic sites in the morning, and then took the long (4 hours! ) waterfall trail in the afternoon. The park is high enough in the mountains that the temperature is actually cool (but not cold), even at noon.

Fantastic experience for the whole family! No need to pay for a tour… just rent a car and use waze or Google maps to get to Las Plaisas ranger station. Costs $15/adult and $5/child (for non Costa Rican citizens). Also bring local Colons for a toll gate on the way up (700 CRCs per person). Hike one of the waterfalls and the mud pots for sure.

I stayed here with 3 friends. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and spoke good English. The rooms were clean, had air conditioning, and hot showers! The breakfast included coffee, juice, fruit, eggs, beans and rice, toast, and plantains. The activities offered were a lot of fun. We did the day package and truly enjoyed it. Our guide was professional and funny. Great place to go as a couple or with kids.

I recommend trekking 4 hours round trip to see and swim at the Waterfall Run. The journey in several slopes is incredible, passing through different environments and finally coming to the waterfall, whose water color and view are incredible. Calculate at least 5 hours roundtrip with a one-hour stay.

Great place for a change of pace of Costa Rican flora and fauna. It's worth leaving the rain and cloudforests for a peak at volcanic features like bubbling mud pots, fumeroles, steaming lagoons, and more. The loop trail is an easy two to three hour stroll (closer to three and a half if your wife takes roughly 700 pictures).

From our first steps, we spotted toucans and lots of butterflies. We also saw capuchin monkeys, two peccaries and many others. We first took the trail to catara escondidas where the wind was intense, but the view amazing. Then we went to catara cangreja, which was warm enough to swim and enjoy it! The volcanic activity was quite impressive with boiling water, mud and fumes of sulfur. I strongly recommend it!
