La Guaca Hostel Santa Marta

My stay in La Guaca was amazing. I felt really welcomed by the people here from the staff Sofie, isa and tiffany as well as the owners. I had a great time in santa marta. My stay was for 3 nights but we extended for a couple of more days. The hostel has a big kitchen, nice pool to relax and enjoy and great breakfast. The staff is always super lovely and makes u feel at home. It’s really close to the center (about 15 min walk) and it also has a laundry service and AC. Thank u for everything to everyone! If I ever come back to santa marta, I know where im going to stay!

Was supposed to stay for 3 days but extended for a whole week.
Located in a super calm and quiet neighbourhood, with walking distance to the center (daytime). Good reliable Wi-Fi. Very clean!
Staff was wonderful and made me feel like home, and the free breakfast was really tasty!
Only negatives for me was the co-working space, which was a table next to the reception with 2 chairs, wasn't very comfortable, the AC is only turned on during night (which seems normal for all hostels here) and it was quite hot and sweaty and I had a bit of a mosquito problem in my room (which I solved with using mosquito spray 24/7).
Very good value for money and overall a great experience.

The Perfect Hub for a Solo Traveler!
I couldn't have asked for a better place to land in Santa Marta as a solo traveler. The vibe at La Guaca is incredibly welcoming and social. Within an hour of arriving, I'd already met a great group of people by the pool. The staff are absolute legends – super friendly, always ready with a recommendation, and they make booking tours to Tayrona or Minca a breeze. The dorms are clean, the AC is a lifesaver, and the free breakfast is delicious and a great way to fuel up before a day of exploring. If you're traveling alone and looking to meet people, this is the spot!

I had a great stay at the Guaca hostel! The rooms and areas were clean, the service was amazing (special thanks to Sofi, Tefy and Isa), and the breakfast was good as well.
It definitely isn’t the most social hostel and has more of a relaxed feeling.
The hostel also offers many options to book activies through them.

The hostel has a big kitchen with alot Equipment, a nice pool to relax and enjoy and great breakfast. The staff is always super lovely and makes u feel at home. Its really close to the center (about 15 min walk) and there is a gym only 2 minutes walk away. The price is more than fair for the hostel. The hostel also has a laundry service and AC. Thank u for everything to everyone! If I ever come back to santa marta, I know where im going to stay!

Stayed for almost a week whilst completing my open water diving certification and felt like a member of the family by the end. Teffy and the other ladies on reception were fantastic and (I presume the owner) was friendly, too. Thank you for helping me get a couple of football matches on the tele! Filtered water is helpful, the pool is nice and the breakfast each day was the best I’ve had in 5 months of travelling. Very generous portion size and the fruit couldn’t be more fresh! Muchas gracias y nos vemos.

I think it’s the best hostel we stayed in South America. Very nice staff, perfect breakfast, little pool but perfect to cool down when it is so hot and airco on the dorms. They have a lot of small places where you can sit, hammocks and yeah just everything you need. We could leave our big backpacks there when we went to Minca for 2 days. It’s a little walk to the beach but we felt never unsafe. Also after sunset or something like that. Definitely would stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hostel. Great value for money, nice spacious room, yummy healthy breakfast. Can highly recommend.

Really felt at home in Guaca hostel. Met a bunch of cool travelers and Isa from reception was very kind. I stayed in a 6 person dormitory and I really liked a full closet I could use for all my stuff. Going to Tayrona I could store my backpack and valuables in a locker without charge. I even forgot the time for my checkout, but no worries for the staff. Thank you Guaca! Would definately stay again!

Quiet inside room, amazing people working there and good value for the money!

Great hostel with clean rooms and good value for money. The breakfast was also very delicious. Lots of access to different activities around the area too. The staff were always very kind and helpful, especially Estefania! We enjoyed our stay very much!

I spent three nights at this hostel. I would definitely recommend it! They helped me book La Ciudad Perdida and a dive trip. The women at the front desk were incredibly helpful with any questions I had. They had lockers you could put locks on and a storage room to leave belongings. Everything felt super safe. It’s a quick 15-20 ish minute walk to the center of town.

Fantastic hostel to base yourself for the Lost City or 'Alternative' Lost City treks. We were able to store our bags while we were away. Clean comfy rooms and even a pool and little shop. We were able to order takeaway food to the hostel and they have a fully stocked kitchen to cook. Excellent laundry service too.

Great little hostel, very friendly staff. Breakfast included is good and filling. They have free luggage storage and secure lockers which is perfect for those doing the Lost City trek! A little outside the centre but there's a huge olimpica supermarket nearby and they have a large, clean kitchen to cook in. Also there's a small swimming pool to cool off after a hot day. Highly recommended.

All of the staff we encountered in this hostel were super helpful at giving recommendations for tours and restaurants, and the rooms had a good size (especially given the price). Breakfast was included and it was really good 👌 they are also happy with you leaving your big bags in a storage room (which felt secure) and valuables in padlock lockers while we did the Lost City Trek (which we also recommend doing) so that was very helpful.

Absolutely worth the money! I stayed here for one night and was leaving for lost city tour the next day — the hostel kept my luggage for free for 4 days which was amazing given it’s not at all an expensive hostel! Plus they had a good breakfast included in the rate! I would absolutely recommend this one to all! I also stayed in viajero which was prettier for sure but I would pick Guaca given price, breakfast, staff and the fact that both are slightly walking from the centre of town!

The hostel located far from the center, but in pleasant area.
(+) Buses pass exactly at the entrance.
Pool is small but nice.
(+) Breakfast is included, and good.
No hot water at the shower.
