This place is just breath taking. It took me about 3 hours to finish the climb up 14 sections but they were worth every bit. The experience and views above the great wall are just amazing. I would completely recommend this place to anyone. One thing I would like to note is that there are limited wheelchair accessible options. The wall has many stairs. For disabled people, I would recommend the helicopter option. Other than that, this is a great place to bring the family and take in the beauty of Chinese culture.

This section is the best restored of the 3 sections I have visited. The Juyongguan Pass is for more rigorous hikers, the Badaling for a quick trip with too many people. Visit early to avoid the tours. Ride the slide down for the adventure.

It's good place to see Great Wall, since it is not so popular among turists and one won't see big crowds here. At last, not always. I've seen the Badaling side of the wall and actually like the Mutianyu side better. They have chair lift (takes you to a spot between watch towers 5&6) and cable car (takes you further up near watch tower 10/11) options to go up and a luge/slide to come down. It's great fun and makes for good photo opportunities. Be sure to get here early — we got here by 9 and it was almost empty. Tourist groups and crowds start from around 10:30. It's a 75 min ride from the city and we took a private tour since we were pressed for time. You can also take bus 961 from the city to a spot close to Mutianyu, and then take one of the many shared vans.

It's a beautiful place, but the old buildings are not visible, the entire wall presented to the tourists is modern, it's not just visible, but the Chinese themselves confirm it.

This was definitely on my places to visit tick list, and I wasn't disappointed. We hired a guide to explain the historical aspects of the wall, which I feel was well worth it. She gave a full account of how and why the wall was there, only with giving us a full opportunity to explore and ask questions. She took us to the most picturesque parts for taking photographs. We went up on the cable car, but came down on the toboggan, which was brilliant fun. I can fully recommend visiting this location as opposed to those closer to Beijing, as it was quiet and uncrowded on the Friday we visited. We really enjoyed our visit here and are so glad to have had the opportunity to see this magnificent location.

The historic place to visit, at least to say, "I was on the Great Wall of China" but, frankly, I expected more. You must take a bottle of water with you, walk the wall pretty hard, because the wall is on the mountain and it's pretty steep ascents and descent.

One of the best wonders of the world is the Great wall of China, nothing prepares you for standing on it and really understand the scale of it. The top of the wall is wide enough for 10 soldiers walking side by side and there is no end to the wall as far as you can see, it just keeps curbing around the landscape. There is really no excuse for not exploring it if you are passing through Beijing, depending on which section you select you can even take public transport out to the wall. You can also take a lift up to the wall so you can get there without walking up or down. In fact try the toboggan on the way down.

Breathtaking experience! Been to many other world wonders and nothing compares to the ingenuity and marvel employed here by the ancient Chinese. As an added bonus, there's this go-kart / sled like ride that takes you back down the hill from the Wall. Emmy girlfriend and I got to see some baby mountain goats playing around while riding this. Very memorable!

Unique and unsurpassed experience! In a part of the wall the steps are difficult to climb as they are very high and some are a little worn, I recommend you wear comfortable slippers and have good grip!
