Beautiful hutong housing renovated modern, nice and cosy. Great and fun restaurant and bar. In and amongst all the local residents, one of the best ways to experience Beijing!

We just checked out of our 8-day stay at the beautiful Orchid and from culture & history-rich Beijing! We spent three nights of our stay at The Yin room (with private garden) and the rest five at one of their private residences nearby the Orchid (5-7mins walk). We loved the hotel’s facilities, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the super-yummy breakfast and coffee We cannot recommend The Orchid highly enough for all the above plus its central location and closeness to places to see and eat at. And if you’re looking to “mix with the locals” and have as much an authentic Hu tong experience, albeit in “all mod cons” style, then The Orchid is your thing. Xie xie guys.

Great place to be whether for travellers or local foodie.

Just like you, we saw many beautiful pictures and heard alot of great reviews of The Orchid Hotel. Thus, without much hesistation, we went ahead to book this hotel for 6 nights. We paid SGD 200 ++ for each night and came to great disappointments that this hotel is really small and old, really does not value for the money we paid for and all the pictures are deceiving! 1st disappointment: (Service)
The TV was not working throughout our 6 nights stay. When we seek for assistance from the front desk staff he said: "The boss” set up the Tv programme, now that "The boss" is not in town they could not do much to fix it and if they were to send a technician here to fix it will need about 1 week time. So there is basically nothing the front desk staff can help us and he left after saying what mentioned above. 2nd disappointment:
The room was not well furnished at all (crack walls can be seen in most part of the room) and lack of facilities (even the most basic facilities (TV) broke down). 3rd disappointment:
Please believe me, there is a lot of mosquitoes and insects! We have to on the insect repellent provided by the hotel else we will serve as supper to the mosquitoes. 4th disappointment: (Location)
When we just arrived in Beijing, We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. But the hotel is so small and hidden in an old alley until the local taxi driver could not find it.

I do not recommend this place.

The roof top patio is nice as always, little oasis to enjoy fall in Beijing :)

Exceptional service, ambiance, food, location. No other hotel comes close.

This relates to Toast their restaurant. The food is nice but service is terrible. We were served our food with a 35 minute wait between my food and my friends. He had finished his way before mine arrived. This happened on two separate occasions. Pretty basic stuff.

This hotel is not easy to find and the way along is exciting and completely different from that what we have expected. So many things to see, simply real life. Having the address in Chinese letters available is essential. The staff speaks very good english, they try hard to help whereever it is necessary: we reached the hotel much earlier than check-in time and our room was not finished yet. They offered us to take a shower in a room, which was left by the guests short before. (Thanks for this! ) They gave us very detailed information regarding sightseeing, restaurants etc. And the right way to it. Our room was simple and very nice and we did not miss anything! Thanks a lot for this pleasant stay! We would come back anytime!

Awesome hidden place inside the hutongs. Very nice hotel preserving the environment and the charm of the old Beijing. Nice terrace for unexpensive sunday brunch.

The orchid is one of my favorite brunch in Beijing, and I recently tried their mezze menu and wasn’t disappointed at all!
Must know the place to find it.

The Orchid Hotel made my visit to Beijing extraordinary — I should have known — it was a recommendation from my boss! I love the fact that it's hard to find, nestled in the old hutongs, amidst red lanterns, and a bustling street food scene — so much to explore on foot! The staff lent me a bicycle and a smart phone with WeChat and MeMaps so that I could navigate the city and communicate with the hotel if necessary. Their pocket paper map was especially helpful. I felt very cozy my entire stay, even though it rained most days (nice heavy comforters! ) The multi-lingual staff are always eager to help, whether to help you download a VPN or make a recommendation. As a solo traveler, I SO appreciated their warmth and kindness. If you get lucky and can book a cooking class, do it and meet some other guests. It's a great community!

Western quality accomodation and modern amenities, but located in the rich atmospheric Hutong area. You really get an authentic taste of the "other side" of Beijing. Large screen TV, unlimited bowl of fruit in your room. I felt 100% safe, and enjoyed it tremendously.

Cool little place the staff are phenomenal and help you make the most of your time in the city.

Tornerei lì altre 1000 volte sia per la posizione (negli hutong, dove assapori la vera vita cinese) e sia per lo staff sempre gentile e attento a darti consigli e ad assicurarsi che stia andando tutto per il meglio. Veramente tutti gentili e simpatici (soprattutto Liily). Inoltre l'hotel (che poi è una casa a corte) è bellissimo, camere deliziose (soprattutto la garden room da noi scela). La colazione molto buona e se provate la cena non rimarrete delusi. Anzi!
I would go there again 1000 times for the location (in the hutong, where to taste the real Chinese life) and for the staff always kind and careful to giving you advice and making sure that everything is going for the best. Really nice (especially Liily. Do you remember the sky temple? ). Also the hotel is beautiful, lovely rooms (especially the garden room we chose). Very good breakfast and if you try the dinner you will not be disappointed! … delicious!

I will never get tired of recommending this place. If you want to experience the whole essence of Beijing, this is the place to be. The owner is friendly and helpful. We found their breakfast delicious too.

A spectacular find in the Hutongs for a drink and meal. I didn't stay at the hotel but the rooftop restaurant/bar is one of the best places in Beijing to watch the sunset. Decent cocktail prices, friendly staff and though the food is beautifully presented, I rather the local cuisine sold on the streets below.

1. Cozy hotel and friendly staffs 2. Staffs speak good in English 3. Breakfast is good BUT the air conditioning is bad. When we finished breakfast, our clothes and hair all smell food 4. Only offter towels 5. Shower water too small and dont have shower door, the water will come out when we finish. 6. The room dont have trash can, only bathroom has. 7. The has lovely cat 8. Actually location is far to subway, at least need to walk 12mins in cold winter.

Charming little hotel, very friendly. A nice place to return after a day in the city.

Lovely little boutique and out of the way hotel in an authentic part of Beijing. Recommended. Great roof top views.
